This evening I give thanks for:

taking excellent care of my teeth

getting everything out for pickup tomorrow, because tonight is recycling-compost-trash eve

lunch salad of romaine, red cabbage, Spanish blue cheese, and toasted walnuts, tossed with olive oil and sherry vinegar

WEARPURPLE'S and WHITELOTUS' thoughtful posts on the Thich Nhat Hanh....and others team

remembering to order my medication

immediately getting pleasant, helpful real people to answer my questions over the phone

the universe, which tells me just what I need--when I have the sense to listen

feeling positive about my new project

twenty minutes of meditation this morning, a habit in the making

my central heating on this cold, cold night in the City by the Bay

neuroscience and neuroplasticity

all the support from friends--cyber and 3D (as Maha calls them)

my cup running over.

Have a perfect night, all you dear people.

Peace be with you,

Michelle

I am SO happy to hear that Sandra's knee is letting her have her LIFE BACK!! SO cool to hear about all the stuff you are getting to do again!!

I am VERY thankful for medical science!!! (mostly...)

I am also thankful for a brilliant sunny day and the ability to get from my office to my car and my car to my house with NO COAT!!! Yippee!!

And I am VERY thankful for the little oppossum in my back yard last night who did NOT bite Parker or Pickles the two rambunctious boxers despite being quite roughed up by two VERY big dogs...

I got them away from him (or her) and eventually the little guy woke back up and went away and no one got hurt!!!

Whew! BIG excitement in the little city of Mooville last night!!

This morning, I am grateful for ...

-- an exam completed (although I have no idea how I did). On to the next paper ....

-- a good workout at the pool last night.

-- running in the pool (I haven't run since I was in my 20s but with my new knee ....). What joy!

-- Over the years, I have mourned each time I quit doing something b/c of arthritis. With my new knee, now I'm adding things back -- sitting on the floor, bicycling, running (albeit in the pool), walking for pleasure, swimming laps. Each one a small victory.

-- Maha, Mary, Peggy and Nelda who are helping me complete my invisible garment

-- Debbra my personal trainer -- for stretching me to do more

-- My daughter received funding for her graduate research. YEAH!

-- a life worth living

-- the possibilities of pleasure

-- freedom to make choices

Blessings,
Sandra

* for chocolate...good chocolate!

On this Monday evening, just a few of my gratitudes:

- My brain, that processes my thoughts and helps me learn
- My eyes, to read the sometimes overwhelming textbooks and case studies
- My ears, that help me with the online videos at the student learning center
- My nimble hands and fingers, that allow me to participate in the discussion boards (and quite quickly I might add at 100+ wpm)
- My feet, that take me on my journeys, wherever I may wander, with little complaint, despite fairly wretched treatment

Have a great evening everybody. I think I'll give this tired body a rest now.

This late afternoon I give thanks for:

an incredibly productive day

going for my medical tests (part of my yearly checkup)

servicing my car from stem to stern--and the guys at Jiffy Lube, who are so terrific and find it difficult to believe my 2006 auto has barely 4,000 miles on it

taking my favorite floor lamp in for repair

purchasing two gigantitron, fresh artichokes from Castroville, among other luscious produce

my Feldenkrais class, after which my back felt so, so much better and I felt two inches taller and remarkably relaxed

the two men in need I've been given the opportunity and the pleasure of "adopting" and helping in small ways with a bit of money and/or food--one is usually in front of my food market and one is in front of my drugstore--they both sell the "Street Sheet," a little paper put out by the homeless and the marginally housed

a free evening to curl up and read after my busy day

all my dear Spark friends.

Peace and blessings to all,

Michelle

Grateful today!

*For the support of my Spark Friends. Thanks all!

*For my dear friend Tracy, who couldn't bear the idea of me watching the academy awards alone so she drove an hour and a half to watch them with me. It was a sweet, wonderful affirmation of our "girl" time in the midst of her wedding preparations.

*For the chance to indulge in fantasies of fancy clothes and accolades that the Oscars provided

*For the thought provoking round table of articles I read yesterday.

*For this crazy, rough journey I'm having here in the French Lick condo. I'm working out what needs to get worked out!

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

Ya know ... If you ever are feeling crappy or need a pick me up .. just come over to this here thread .... Wow ... such positive energy and such interesting people! Thank you for sharing this journey with me.

My Attitude of Gratitude this glorious day in which I woke up on the RIGHT side of the grass...

~ Driving to D.C. and realizing while jammin to MJ that I was on EEEEEE!!! Asking the Universe to get me to a pump and 5 minutes later I was safe again. I mean E as in fumes.

~ seeing dogs hanging out of various cars here and getting a private chuckle out of it especially the wiener dog who exchanged curious looks with me at a red light.

~ Jamie squared! Jamie Cullum concert with Jamie daughter. He was fantastic! WOW!!

~ Thai dinner chosen by daughters friends that was fantastic as well. Small, home cooked, neighborhood fun.

~ Being able to walk everywhere we needed and feeling safe as well as inspired by the city

Today, may I make good decisions that create positive outcomes and may I have wonderful, loving people in my life to share this awesome journey with.

"As Aristotle said, “We become what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.” The same can be said of enthusiasm, excitement, and passion. It is a habit, and a choice we make, moment by moment. "- Teresa Easler

Gratefulness, the Heart of Prayer

Good morning! Missed everyone udring yesterday's SparkFast. I will be online minimally today as well. Today blessings abound~~

~ being *shamed* into going for a bike ride on Sunday by my housemate -- and being SO glad I went! Between a demanding yoga class on Saturday and my brisk 40-min. bike ride, I burned 450 calories, and that's a good thing

~ enjoyed a delicious brunch omelet yesterday -- superior in every way to anything I could get "out there"

~ prepared a tasty organic lentil, potato, carrot, tomato stew Sunday afternoon that will last a few days

~ washed clothes and hung them out to dry in the 66 degrees blue-skied Sunday which is a good thing, since thunder storms are predicted today

~ got a fair amount of linguistics study accomplished yesterday and plan to accomplish even more today!

Blessed be!

This morning I am thankful for

-- my first outdoor bicycle ride since knee replacement and eating breakfast outdoors at our destination. A two-fer.

-- discovering my invisible garment -- what a wonderful, affirming exercise. It's OK to be me!

-- putting aside studying for a weekend and knowing it is OK.

-- a life worth living

-- freedom to choose and patience to live into the questions

-- thoughtful comments from caring SP friends on yesterday's blog

-- the possibilities of pleasure

-- another day of blessings

Grace and peace,
Sandra

Grateful tonight ~~

-- that the snow (!!!) that fell early this afternoon didn't stick...and that the plants I bought yesterday and forgot outside overnight seem none the worse for the unanticipated weather

-- for a quick shopping trip with my youngest son who didn't pester me for anything at all!

-- for the rewards of perseverence

-- for small blessings

Wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead!

Sweet evening dreams, everyone! As I drift off to sleep tonight, I will be thinking of all that I am grateful for -- especially:

~ another long, wonderful walk with R today!
~ warmer weather perking up my spirits
~ so much support and encouragement here
~ lovely dinner with R
~ my two big Goldfish and the little fish (Rosies) made it through the winter in the outdoor pond!
~ R is a kindred spirit and helped me bury and bless the big frog that didn't survive the winter in the pond
~ the soft little padding of paws around our house
~ clean, fresh house, laundry done, and pantry full of healthy foods!
~ for the blessings of being alive!
~ for the music in my heart!

Blessing to all! Have a great week!

On this Sunday evening, I choose to recount MORE of my gratitudes that have happened since this morning:

- A WONDERFUL walk in the woods with my oldest, dearest friend, followed by
- A great Italian dinner out with my friend and my partner - stuffed portabello mushrooms and zucchini, pesto gnocci, spinach salad, etc.
- A nice phone call with my mother
- Releasing and letting go of my anger over our final team presentation and paper (what a fiasco)
- Gratitude that I had the foresight to talk with my instructor long before the fiasco happened
- A new HDTV - our first - it's got an awesome picture and sound, and we don't even have the HD cable box yet!!!
- Setting up the new TV with my sweetie - we had great fun and worked well together

Have an awesome night everybody -

Stephanie

This glorious, sunny Sunday I give thanks for:

getting myself to church even though I had little sleep last night

a wise and witty sermon that was spot on and delivered in an engaging manner

prayers, music, and community

cauliflower and extra-extra sharp cheddar cheese soup

a tee shirt that is now loose enough to wear--it used to fit me like a sausage casing a while back

listening to Prairie Home Companion's joke night while I made soup yesterday

an organic chicken to roast this evening, which will give me at least five meals

giving myself permission to take it easy this afternoon and to plan an especially early bedtime

having my dear friend and writing buddy, Robert, and his lovely wife, Ann, to cherish.

Peace be with you all,

Michelle

Grateful this warm and sunny Sunday
* For both hubby and I being civil service employees, and not being laid off like so many folks in the private sector
* For having the opportunity to expose the grandkids to their first 3D movie and sharing their excitement ("I thought I was watching a movie that was just mine!")
* For the mindfulness bell application on my new phone...keeping me focused and present, and keeping the kids calm (New rule: You have to stop what you are doing and take a slow deep breath when you hear the bell)
* For being organized enough to have my bags packed for out of town travel early tomorrow.
* For being able to provide compassionate counsel to a coworker, based on a recent life experience of mine.

On this Sunday morning, I am feeling the need to get centered on what is good in life, so am doing BOTH of my gratitude posts this morning:

- Alone time yesterday that brought on cleansing tears and more of the grieving process over my sweet Lady Gwendolyn when I realized how we used to enjoy alone time together (and that's probably why I couldn't nap, despite going on less than 5 hours rest, no kitty next to me snuggled in for a nap)
- My amazing partner, her depth, her understanding and support, despite her own major health issues
- My brother-in law and hearing his wonderful voice this morning
- My sister returning my call yesterday
- Knowing what is good for myself and scheduling a nice little hike this afternoon with one of my oldest friends (40+ years, she's known me since I was 8 years old)
- Vitamin D, the natural way :-)
- Exercise, my favorite date other than with my sweetie (see yesterday's blog if this piques your curiosity)
- The wonderful and amazing people on this thread and how much I enjoy hearing about all of your adventures, thoughts, and joys (and sorrow, they happen in life)

Make it an excellent day everybody!

Stephanie

grateful for family, for taking care of me this weekend. Grateful for sunny days and the start (hint) of spring we have right now. And grateful for dogs whose joyful attitude toward each day (squirrels! breakfast! happiness all around!) enlivens my heart and my life.

emoticon on your performance, Norlana!

Today I am thankful for:
*Getting one more hour of sleep after tossing and turning much of the night

*Having gotten out of bed before I realized I was doing it. (No lollygagging for me today! I've got big plans!)

*A day alone

*A chance to write

*The strange series of circumstances that finds me in possession of a condo in French Lick, IN for the next few days (new digs are perfect for turning over a new leaf!)

PS: If I may ask for it, please send me good vibes over the next few days. I'm trying to carve out a little "me" time to work on a writing project and get back on the Spark People train. That requires a lot of faith in myself, and I could use the support of knowing the team is routing for me.

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

Boy, Noreen, LOOK AT SKINNY YOU!!!!

And why didn't you tell me you were headed my way. Sounds like you'll be busy, but call if you get a chance.

Gratitudes:

that Noreen did so well in front of 450 people AND her husband and that she is stretching herself in so many ways

for another beautiful, sunny and relatively warm day

for sighting a robin and for going to the (flower) nursery, even if I didn't buy anything, as a harbinger of spring

for not having enough water yesterday and MISSING IT - for me that is HUGE!

for already having prepping 2 more dinners making a total of about a week's worth's of meals
