On this springlike Saturday, I am thankful
* For Farmers' market...wonderful fresh, organic produce year round, and flowers (today, jonquils and pussy willows)
* For finding a new wilderness hike for next weekend.
* For quiet late night hours.
* For the realization that stress really does weigh one down (I have lost 2 pounds since I quit my job)
* For traditions, family, friends and SuperBowl
* For the genuine, unforced joy that abounds in my spirit...It was buried too long, and now has resurfaced along with new optimism and anticipation of good things to come.

From Today's Spark Healthy Reflections:

Instead of comparing our lot with that of those who are more fortunate than we are, we should compare it with the lot of the great majority of our fellow men. It then appears that we are among the privileged.

- Helen Keller

- I am so grateful for clean water

- For a home in a Buddhist Community in a beautiful region of France

- For clothing to keep me warm and dry, a good bed to sleep on, a heater and a sturdy, secure and cosy room

- For fresh organic food, for so many delightful flavours, for vitamins and minerals

- For my good physical health

- For an education, a healthy mind, and the media (mainly through my computer) to keep my mind active and engaged

- For caring, supportive and understanding family and friends who can also enjoy such advantages. For everything that keeps my heart healthy and engaged

- For the priceless jewel of the Buddha's teachings that are still available in this world, and for a perfect vessel - my teacher - who is in my life, who sees my potential, who translates these teachings for the modern world and who never gives up on me.

- For all the opportunites and support that I have ever been given.

- For so much more.....!

AT - How wonderful for you! - You must have cleared quite a bit of karma in your old job. Enjoy what comes now!

Norlana - have a great journey!

Today's gratitudes include

- Arriving back at Lerab Ling, France with ease.

- Taking the chance to swim at the Olympic Pool on the way home and having a lot of fun.

- Speaking to my sister who has just finished a retreat with my teacher, and hearing how inspired and transforming it was for her. The 'Ah Ha' light went on for her!

(by the way, it has been 44 degrees celcius for 4 days in a row in Melbourne. 36 degrees at night! - that's hot, isn't it!)

- The kindness and friendship of the numerous people that I saw in London.

- My teacher.

On this, my first day of "freedom", I remain exceedingly grateful
* That I did not have to go to work on my old job today
* That the stress continues to pour out of every cell, leaving me feeling alive, invigorated, and at peace.
* For an unexpected mid-day visit from my hubby who was out in the field...for his bizzare humor and support
* For blooming tea...and my glass teapot on a hot plate. A late afternoon habit recently re-established.
* For deep breathing, quiet moments, and eyelids...

I'm grateful for a full day of sunshine yesterday and a gorgeous hike in a beautiful out of the way part of France- that turns out not to be so far from our Temple.
I'm really grateful for this ol body that is healing and getting fit so splendidly.
-That I can walk and hike and climb rugged hills with joy and without too much pain.
-That SP and all of you are so supportive!
-That we can share our enthusiasm with others and gently nudge them onwards towards better self care and fitness too.
Have a wonderful weekend emoticon Claire

I am FREE, FREE at last!!! And I think no one is more grateful than I today...
* For spending my last day in job purgatory
* For a calm, rational, but very honest exit interview today (read my blog)
* For going to new job to sign some paperwork, and having new supervisor open her arms as I walked through the door, and embrace me....saying "I am SO glad we could rescue you. It must have been horrible" (I never said a word about my as of now, former, supervisor, but she had worked with her in the past....)
* For hubby's support and a date night to celebrate!
* For a full week off, to sleep in, to clean closets, to regroup, and ??
* For the incredible going away luncheon yesterday, and the place in my heart that holds good memories and laughter shared with all my former (as of today) co-workers
* For staying "mostly" on track with eating, despite lots of celebrating!
* That I am back on line after almost two days.
* That I feel so blessed tonight, with tension and stress dripping out of every pore, that I could go on and on, and on...Hallelujah!

Right now I'm very grateful for rain. It's been raining for several hours and replenishing the tapped aquifir somewhat.
Also grateful for the ducks in the front yard (pond?) and watching my neighbor and her little one feed the ducks soggy crackers. So cute!
P.S. Happy belated birthday Dot!

Tonight's Gratitudes, Blessings and Positive Focus ...

~ Nearly packed for trip tomorrow

~ For two weeks away with my DH and friends visiting far away places I've never been

~ Warm clothes, especially long underware

~ Being confident in expressing what I want

~ Getting one more dance class in tonight ... Mambo!

~ Renewing my dance classes for 18 months and having the means to provide this for myself

~ That my DH is learning how to make Proscuitto from an elderly Italian Friend who has offered to teach him the secrets

~ My DH helping to get us ready with his packing expertise from many years as a road warrior

~ Being able to Skype our son and daughter in North Carolina to see them before we leave

~ For our youngest who will hold down the fort while we are gone

~ and finally, tonight I dug my car out of the ice that encapsulated it for the past two days. The sky was an erie shade of pink, blue and gray. Trees were creaking and cracking under the weight of the ice. It took so long for my car to thaw out, I had a wonderful opportunity to take in a quiet moment of ice and it's beauty.

Be well everyone! I'll post when I can

Love to all,

Norlana

Sorry its been so long since I got back here... busy, as usual! puppy is busy too. and I chase her around, which is good for both of us.

Grateful for good health, good sleep, and warm house on this very cold January day.

And yes, grateful still for snow, even though it seems like it has been going on for a long time.

Tonight I am thankful for

--my new phone and DSL provider up and running

--the kind and personable technician who came out to make the switch, then went the extra mile helping me with questions outside his sphere of responsibility

--Barilla Plus

--finding "lost" items--for a woman who lives alone in a small flat, I amaze myself at what I sometimes temporarily lose

--our security gate and intercom that makes me feel more secure

--a beautiful day with blue skies and a nip in the air

--lavender body lotion

--staying with my Spark program

--keeping on keeping on

--not fearing aging or the change in my looks (just a few wrinkles here and there. LOL!), as so many of my friends obsess about--I feel such sadness for their suffering--indeed they are truly beautiful women

--President Obama's intelligence, grace, and courage

Peace and blessings to all,

Tonight, just before bed (YIKES! WAY to late to be up on a work night) I express gratitudes
* For delightful emails received today...uplifting and comforting
* For the vision of Hanalei, the moisture of the air, the fragrance of the flowers, and the sound of the sea...and did I mention the beauty? Maha, thanks.
* For friendships that formed over the past 15 months. How I will miss so many of my coworkers.
* That I only have two days left working for a sour, angry woman...
* For a new technique in keeping our cats from scratching furniture.

Happy Birthday, Mama Dot. So glad you will be celebrating with your loving family.

On this cold night, I am grateful for:

--getting a sticky situation with a colleague under control with no hard feelings on either side

--Tift Merritt's "Tambourine" Album

--getting rid of more paper

--my voracious shredder

--wheat bran and yogurt kissed with a little brown sugar

--home-made lentil and mushroom soup

--being able to get to bed by 9:30 tonight, because I have an early call tomorrow

--feelings of contentment

--accepting I weigh what I weigh and trusting I will become leaner and more fit if I trust the process

--the loving support of Spark friends--so many dear ones in this little town called Thanksgiving

--my retired Episcopalian priest and writing buddy whose medical test showed no problems with his heart

--for all the people who have helped me become me--way too many to even start listing--and in retrospect I can see even difficult relationships ultimately made positive contributions to my life

I'm grateful today to all of you, for being so positive and upbeat.
I'm grateful for those that don't complain or whine or get angry when things just don't go their way. I'm grateful too for when I can keep a positive frame of mind when things seem a bit challenging and I hit bumps in the road of life. I'm grateful for all the things we can learn when we keep our cool and perspective.
Thank you everybody for being here and sharing gratitudes!

I am in a place of thankfulness for the goodness that comes my way...

- a friend enjoying the book I gave her and embracing my intention
- a smile from someone
- feeling able to help my clients
- reading in bed and snuggling with dog
- energy that builds from movement
- dog insisting I get up and not procrastinate
- waking up feeling happy and ready for the day
- the knowing smiles and nods that I make as I read through your posts and see all the things that make me say" yup, me too!" "how true!" "wow, someone else feels that way also!" (i.e. Michelle's good ol' dustpan and broom)

Have a Wonder Filled Day!

Hi Friends below me!!!! I'm waving at you!

Oh, it is a beautiful day here today...and I am thankful
* For the almost uncontrollable joy I feel as I prepare to leave my "Job from Purgatory"
* For the green of the grass and the blue of the sky and the fragrences as I walked through the park today.
* For leftovers
* For kindness when least expected.
* For finally remembering to get thank you and sympathy cards.

Good morning Ann and all other dear friends! I'm full of thanks giving for this and more ~~

For the Traveler

Every time you leave home,
Another road takes you
Into a world you were never in.

New strangers on other paths await.
New places that have never seen you
Will startle a little at your entry.
Old places that know you well
Will pretend nothing
Changed since your last visit.

When you travel, you find yourself
Alone in a different way,
More attentive now
To the self you bring along,
Your more subtle eye watching
You abroad; and how what meets you
Touches that part of the heart
That lies low at home:

How you unexpectedly attune
To the timbre in some voice,
Opening in conversation
You want to take in
To where your longing
Has pressed hard enough
Inward, on some unsaid dark,
To create a crystal of insight
You could not have known
You needed
To illuminate
Your way.

When you travel,
A new silence
Goes with you,
And if you listen,
You will hear
What your heart would
Love to say.

A journey can become a sacred thing:
Make sure, before you go,
To take the time
To bless your going forth,
To free your heart of ballast
So that the compass of your soul
Might direct you toward
The territories of spirit
Where you will discover
More of your hidden life,
And the urgencies
That deserve to claim you.

May you travel in an awakened way,
Gathered wisely into your inner ground;
That you may not waste the invitations
Which wait along the way to transform you.

May you travel safely, arrive refreshed,
And live your time away to its fullest;
Return home more enriched, and free
To balance the gift of days which call you.
