We have had a lot of nice hot weather lately here in Southern British Columbia. It's supposed to cool down slightly later in the week. I actually got onto my stationary bike yesterday and did 20 minutes of biking. I could have done more, but my left leg started giving out, so decided to quit at 20. Will try for the same or more today. Have to build up my legs and my stamina...I have let myself go for too long! Been too lazy to exercise, but then I don't lose weight if I don't exercise, even though I'm counting my calories. Cause and effect...Have to keep at it... emoticon

I am going to try to start again to get this weight off. I was doing well then stopped after my brother passed away early this year. I have not gotten back to it. Today I will start again... emoticon

SEAWITCHBLUE, I keep weights on my dresser, they get really dusty emoticon I should start to use them on a regular basis, maybe when I watch the news.

Anyone know if there is a good or bad time of the day to use weights? emoticon

Yes swimming is good cardio exercise - but no use for building bones.
For that you need weight bearing exercise. I'm going to try for another wee walk today but it cant last more than 5 mins before the leg starts burning again.

Mebbe next week but I'll need to build it up.
May go for a wee walk this afternoon if it stays dry.

Another beautiful summer morning emoticon What a great week off from work this is emoticon I'm using it to jump start my exercise program...so far so good! Can't weigh myself until I go back to work. I prefer to stick to one scale and since I only weigh in once a week it works for me.

My granddaughters 2nd birthday was successful. My daughter had her party at a local park.
She belongs to mother tot groups and church group. 16 little friends arrived accompanied with parent and 4 grandmothers. My daughter set up a gazebo tent, to add some shade from the sun. She hauled a camp stove to cook wieners on. Her treats for the kids cake, chips balloons and bubble wands. It was a windy day but sunny. The bigger kids had fun in the water park section.

I suffered from food poisoning last night. Nothing like cleaning one's insides out, when all the medicine in the world doesn't work! Was to babysit my grandaughter today but was in no shape this morning. Daughter called me early this morning at 5:30am to see how I was feeling. Luckily, everything from my rear to my head had flushed the toxic waste out but left me wore out. Only got 2 hours sleep in the wee morning hours. What did I eat to make me so sick. A piece of a cooked [frozen] vegetarian pizza. Won't be buying that again! I miss my little gran-baby, haven't seen her in a week!

Never driven a motorcycle but have rode on a few. It was great when out of traffic but hate swallowing all those exhaust fumes, while waiting for traffic lights to change!
How healthy could that be?

Same goes for restaurants, that have outdoor eateries. Yummm, breathing in exhaust fumes, as you dine out, you can't smoke a cigarette out there or inside, heavens no!

I ask ya all what's the logic to that?

After the window washer left, went and voted. No line ups was done in 5 minutes. After arriving home look out my nice clean windows, to only see it was pouring rain. By the time I parked my vehicle and rode up the elevator. Rats I wanted a cheap car wash! I contemplated, going down and parking my vehicle in the vistor outdoor parking lot.

On monday going as soon as the polls open for voting, at 7am. Got a window cleaner coming by 10am to give an estimate cost, if I'm satified with the cost, he will probably come the next day or the day after.

Today end of April was a splendid day! Babysat from 6am to 3pm. Walked my 22 month old grandaughter, around the townhouse complex 3 times. Exploring the trees, shrubs, flowers and trying to get her to not be afraid of the grass! Showed her how to fetch and catch a ball, teaching her to climb and descend stairs. I certainly was exhausted by the end of the third time around, was glad she got tired and had a wee nap.

I did a couple loads of laundry, folded the laundry and put it away for my daughter. My grandaughter helped unload the dishwasher. Of course everything she insisted on putting away was all in the lower cupboards. When she was napping put everything away where it should be in its proper place, so my daughter can find it. Well that was my enjoyable saturday.

I bought a new monitor for my computer about a year ago. The store added a printer for free. Told them I don't need another printer but they insisted. I never used it as liked my old printer. I put it down in my storage and forgot about it.

Then I decided to buy a notebook computer for the kitchen and when I travel. Another printer they include for free, same brand different model. When putting the christmas ornaments and such away, in storage I discovered now I have two new printers!

My 5 year old printer konked out and I retrieved from storage one of the free printers. I guess it was free because they are flawed, it did not recognized my digital photo program. Today I went and bought a new printer, same brand different model, as I have had for the last 5 years. It mainly set up for photo printing.

The two free printers I am donating to a fund raiser garage sale put on by a local real estate company to help the needy people in our community. The printers are great if you just want to scan, do basic basic print or email printed documents. So think they would be useful to whom ever purchases them at the garage sale. Hope they get at least $15.00 each for them as they are still in the original boxes. With all the paraphernalia needed to hook them up, to computer. Though think I will add a note with them, that they are not very photo print friendly.

What a day I had today! Thinking it would only take an hour or so, to move my computer stuff to the spare bedroom. Then move things around in my bedroom, to set up the small TV that was in the spare room.

What really took the time was wiring every thing back up. So far I have knocked out the internet for my lap top, lost the password for the wireless gizmo, other than that, it all came together, late after dinner! The cable cord connection fell into the wall, good thing there are a few widowers,in my building, called one and he was knocking at my door, before I knew it. He fixed everything quickly and was on his way. Got to leave him something nice at is door for helping me.

Spring has sprung and caught me off guard. My daughter works 2 nights a week and her hubby works the opposite nights of her shift, so they manage without me babysitting.

Now that the Craft and Farmer's Market is open for the season, my daughter is back in there 2 days a week. I will be babysitting Wednesdays, Friday evenings, till Saturday afternoon.

My daughter never got a seasons pass, as they were all reserved last November when it closed for the season. She leaves home at 4 am to get in the line up, for a sellers day pass, to the market. She sells her custom made jewellery. The market opens at 6am till 1pm. There is no way I am getting up at 3:30 in morning to go babysit, so I have my granddaughter friday nights, till about 3pm on saturdays.

Just a note to all, about "The Food Corner" forum.

Recipes with links I have moved them all under one topic. If you have a favourite recipe with a link it will be added to the list alphabetically. If you post a recipe in full, it will not be added to the recipe links section. As all will see it as, a new recipe in a all content post.

Can't be a looser every week Sandy or we wouldn't have nothing to work for! emoticon
Spent most of the morning at a fabric store. Choosing fabric and patterns. Making some PJ's and a couple sunday school dresses for my grand daughter.

Then I stopped at the grocery store for fresh produce and home. Just finished making a fruit salad and a cold slaw with some of produce.

It's clouded over quite abit, not sure if I should take my pooch for a walk or not today. Wet paw tracks on my floors, I surely despise emoticon

Hi Just checking in. Didn't loose any weight this week. I will keep working on it. Gettin hot in Arizona and it is almost time to move back to IDaho for the summer. I am a little concerned about keeping my exercise going as I don't have people to do the walking videos when we travel. Thank goodness for Spark people to help keep me motivated.

Yesterday, I had to upgrade my IE browser. Was consumed with that most of the day. Lost Google and was mad. But getting used to Bing! The new browser is faster.

Having the kids over for dinner tonight. Having baked salmon, Very Berry Spinach salad, carrots, broccoli and potatoes. Yesterday roasted beets, peeled and sliced them up when cooled. Today just have to warm the beets and top with goat cheese. Wonder what kinda expression, they will comment on that side dish! Ha! Ha! Dessert is baking in the oven right now, having Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

Coming back from grocery shopping, I stopped to have a coffee, sitting at an outside table. Along came two women. A middle aged lady stopped first to introduce the woman with her. Saying she was from Russia and had recently married her son.

The young woman spoke fluent English. As I realized when she started rambling on about laying a prayer on me. She asked if I would mind if she prayed for me and what would I like healed.

"Well, I dunno " was my first response. Then I said "Maybe you could pray I will loose 10 pounds by the end of the month or how about my swollen foot ?" I replied. So she prayed from the swelling in my foot to go down. Now that is a pretty obvious, natural occurrence, eventually the swelling will go down on it's own, but if it made her feel better, so be it!

I'm so glad the swelling is down. I had a bad time with my knee for over a year & it was scary. Now it is much better pain wise & swelling has finally gone but it tries to give out on me once in a while so still have to be mindful of it!
Not fun to have to limp or hobble around!
I hadn't noticed our Walmarts declining yet...shelves are still mostly stocked yet...maybe soon though!
Hope you have a great day...

Rhonda the cold packs brought the swelling down and left a good size bruise. Good thing, boots are the norm around my area this time of year, hate to have a black and blue foot showing in flip flops weather!

Today going out to get home content insurance renewed and take back a top I purchased, because I thought it was on sale for $25.00 but my bill reads it was $50.00. Either they refund the $25.00 or they can have it back!

Just was reading on the news Walmart is on a decline with shoppers, for several reasons but mainly they have stopped stocking their shelves with brand named products. Yahoo I hope they go broke! In my small city we have two Walmarts. Which 90% of the time the shelves are half empty.

So why bother shopping there? Just a waste of my gas to drive over to a half empty store. Rather shop at local large mall which is within walking distance and leave my vehicle parked at home.

emoticon Rhonda and All!

I have been glued to the news all weekend. too. Over the earth quake/tsunami/nuclear explosion/meltdown in Japan and the disheartening events of the Libyan people.

Friday evening, computer chair, I grabbed on my way crashing to the floor. The metal part slammed on top of my foot, so been hobbling around all weekend between ice packs and the fridge.

Good morning all. Hope everyone is doing well.
I was so stressed over the Japan disaster that I was exhausted! Today after sending up my prayers, I'm using my energy on those cute weeds that are popping up all over the place!
They are cute but painful in a month or two when they either have big stickers or invisible fine stickers!
It is a beautiful day again in my neck of the hills!

Food for Thought - The Raw Meat Diet

Eating raw meat is controversial, but here are some tips on how to eat a raw meat diet. To most people, including raw meat in their diet likely sounds not only odd, but an invitation for food poisoning and parasites. However, supporters of the raw meat diet claim that is the most healthy way to eat.

Most people have grown up avoiding raw meat, always ensuring that it is prepared and cooked properly for fear of getting sick. However, a relatively new diet craze has emerged that encourages people to eat their meat raw. And then there are all those sushi eaters.

While all meat at sushi restaurants is not uncooked, the majority of it is. Celebrities including Uma Thurman, Demi Moore, Natalie Portman and Gordon Ramsay have hailed eating raw meat as a way to not only lose weight, but also feel healthier, happier and more energized.

What are your thoughts in this topic?

My mother believed in cooking veggies to "very tender" consistency. So, when I tried crispy cooked I thought they were undercooked & someone needed cooking lessons! It took me a long time before I read that they were better for me crisp cooked!

I have become an addict to Water ~ How I ever survived with so little fresh cold water before is beyond my comprehension! Come to think of it I didn't eat or like fresh fruit or veggies either, I survived on restaurant foods since I was a kid and my body was evidence of that!

I wish us luck on this bumpy road to success! LOL
I don't want to be unable to do simple things ...like tie my own shoes etc! Right now it's hard to get my seatbelt fastened on the passenger side and I don't like the struggle!
Must get back in the groove to get weight off & get fit!

Good for you starting over. I have to do it pretty regularly and hope we both can do it. I am trying very hard. GOOD LUCK I want to work hard at getting this weight off. They say I don't eat enough food and now with all the food and snacks I am eating that it will work and I can shed some weight.

I start over on this road to better health a lot! I'm starting again today! Paul's birthday started my spiral into "too much" of a "bad" thing!
Now it's fruit, veggies & fat free dip for snacks & 1 serving for meals! Water, water, water & more water the rest of the time!
Sigh!

MEKO12 - Since you asked

I started with SP several years ago. I reached goal weight in the spring of 2009. I had lost 125 lbs. Feeling over confident, I over indulged in foods and drinks. By June of 2010 I had gain back 30 lbs. Just enough weight gain to make my new clothes feel tight, uncomfortable to wear. My big clothes I got rid of.

My thoughts were If I did gain weight again they would be out of fashion anyway was my thought when chucking out the large sizes.

To date I have lost 20 lbs of the regained weight and have 10 lbs to go. I am sure many have lost far more quickly than myself. Just goes to show, over indulging is there for all the world to see, how stupid could I have been.

Things I did to loose 125 lbs.
1.
Changed how I shopped for food
a - reading labels and comparing
b - replacing healthier foods over not so healthy
c - Stuck to portion control on foods I love
2.
Changed how I cooked foods
3.
Found activities I enjoyed for physical movement, that I could maintain even after I lost weight and into my golden years, health permitting............

a - aqua-size classes
b - swimming
c - walking
d - dancing
e - treadmill when weather is poor
f - recently added Wii Fit machine for more exercise

I cook for myself so this in it self present emotional eating challanges.

I am just starting Day 1 today and so far so good. I did the treadmill this morning and then later will do some weights and hopefully this diet will work for me. How long have you been on it? Does it work? Do you follow it to the "T" ? I have alot to learn with it as it is very difficult knowing what to eat and how. I cook for my husband and I basically eat healthy, but could not lose a pound and I even exercise.

Hello. We just got back from an outing. We took our two dogs & our friends little Beagle to a fenced in area where cattle are run from time to time & the mutts played in the creek & dug gopher holes & ran & I walked. Then we hiked back into a canyon with a smaller creek & got back after dark! We ate our little mini picnic by headlights & flashlight in the mist & breeze! We got home in time to grab my clothes off the lline & now it's time to put our feet up by the fire & watch Indiana Jones....again! lol

I live in high desert between Temecula & Palm Desert. Our valley is right next to part of Anza Borrego State Park. In fact we go in the back gate to 4 wheel or hike every so often.
I think the rain is visiting us again.

MEKO12 ~ Are sticking to your diet meals? If you are stuck on a plateau, then perhaps cheating by eating something fattening can work, to jog the body into reacting the opposite of what you think will happen.

emoticon Rhonda I love books sales too! The public library has a building behind my condo, where they send worn and tattered books, to be sent away to be mended or discarded. They hold two books sales a year one in the fall and one in the spring. Really good deals but have to get there early, before all good ones are snapped up!

Looks like spring outside today but the temperature, doesn't feel like emoticon
Happy to see the sun though!

Not much exciting around my world today. It's trying to snow. Every once in awhile when I look out the window miniature snowflakes fall but melt before they hit the ground. I' m just hoping it doesn't snow as my daughter and son inlaw are going to a concert in Vancouver, 350 km away tomorrow. The mountain ranges are horrible when it snows. Babysitting for two days at their place, because of their cats. Hauling Mitzi my dog over there. She is exhaust chasing the cats in a few hours, let alone two days!

wow are you ambitious! I am working hard to keep from stressing. My husband is recovering from hernia surgery and refuses to do any kind of breathing excercises or even attemp to walk. I went thrift shopping and then out to lunch to keep from bugging him. OF course that isn't helping the weight loss but at this point I feel it is hopeless. I haven't lost any weight for a month. Thanks for listening . guess I am a little discouraged.

I bought a complete new bed, include a headboard and foot board. It was suppose to be delivered on the 27th of February. They delivered on the 27th but minus a foot board, saying they warehouse sent the wrong foot-board and the delivery fellas brought wrong headboard. I had already waited 3.5 weeks for the delivery.

I had no luck with the Sleep Country store, though they did refer me to a phone number for the head office of Sleep Country. There a receptionist, assured me, the right headboard would arrive February 27 or a few days later. She also stated she would be sending my a $50.00 complimentary gift card to use in their store, for the inconvience, of the delayed items and mixed up order. So far now nothing has arrived in the mail for this company.
My luck they go out of business and I'm stuck with what I got!

Today I am heading over to Sears. Looking for two night tables. Yesterday went to several furniture stores.

Actually The Brick has a sale on and found what I liked but no sales people on the floor. Ya, they must have been out to lunch....as it was noon and one could hear a pin drop, it was so void of sales people!

Did a two hour walk yesterday with my little dog, along a creek side park. It was fantastic walk full of sunshine and crisp air! I just got back from Aqua-size class 8am - 9am. Like to do the early class when I have most of energy for the day, it helps prolong the feel good feeling!

Hello: I am 62 this year. I'm having a bout of pleurisy, which is injury related rather than illness related. So I have not been able to work-out this week. I still lost a small amount of weight so that was very thrilling. I love to work-out, it helps so much with everything. Thanks to the spark diet I was able to still keep up with some goals this week

Snowing again. Think the forcast is for another 15cm or 12 inches. Good thing I live in the valley now. One could double the amount up in the mountains, where I used to live.

Hope all are having a terrific week!
