When I bought a new Samsung phone in April, I also bought a Samsung gear watch that tracks fitness workouts, sleep patterns, heart beats per minute, and produces some very nice charts. Until Samsung updated their software, my watch was barely lasting a day. Now it has much better life on the battery. It's been a great motivator to keep moving and get quality sleep, as have my SparkTeam challenges.

When I talk with my girlfriend who just got a Garmin fancy watch, we text each other regularly and inspire each other to walk more. This is a very good thing.

Be inspired in 2018!

good for you ! I just got a new accountability partner. We have talked about 6 times.

Also I had so much trouble with my Fitbit. My husband finally downloaded the app on his tablet. Hopefully, it will now track. He had loaded it on his Android pay as you go phone. It doesn't have a memory, so it was trying to connect all day. It would cost him pay as you go minutes, or had to be by WiFI. it just wouldn't keep working on Windows 10. it only registered one thing, and the rest was blank.

I hope this one doesn't flake out, like the others.

Tracking and living the healthy habits in the SparkTeam challenges has been key in finally being able to leave Obesity (class one) and move into the "overweight" category. My next goal is to make Onderland. For me, it's all about the baby steps; one step at a time.

Yes, homemade are the best. Although I can be tempted with a store-bought White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookie.

sounds yummy. Thanksgiving leftovers usually are.

This year we had ham, because it was given to us spiral sliced. It was good, except I was VERY thirsty, since I ate more than 1 slice. We did our Thanksgiving yesterday . MY husband had been sick for a few days. emoticon

Today is the 16th anniversary of September 11th.† I can still remember where I was when the first and second planes crashed into those towers 16 years ago, and the lasting impact that day has had on so many people in America and all over the world.†
Cherish your time with your family today.† And if something's not right between you and someone else, lay down your pride, fix it, correct it...do whatever you can.† God will honor your efforts, and give you peace.

Oh my. I have been on some forums of this sort for about 16 years. I have only had one bad experience and one kinda disappointing one.

One of the forums was really good. It had some ladies that were more open minded than some. They had a few that did homesteading, home schooling, and talked about a few personal everyday things such as marriage and family. There was even a few that didn't go to church but trying to follow God. There was one who was living with her guy friend. I didn't think this was so biblical, but a few said their opinion in a gracious way

. The problem occurred when they had a new person saying some crummy things about certain ethnic groups. I do think they were correct in wishing the person to apologize and not conduct their selves that way anymore.

The one that was disappointing, was a site I was on that wasn't strictly christian but a sub group. They were cool if someone expressed their philosophy and spiritual beliefs.

However, when they expressed an holistic idea ( which wasn't New Age ), they pressured the leader of the group. In my estimation... they should of said, this is the author's opinion , we don't endorse this view, and research it yourself before taking steps.

Hi everyone.

I wanted to share what happened to me online today because I thought this team would understand.

There is a website called Spiritual forums. The guy who created the website said the purpose of creating this website was for people who wanted to make friends with similar interests and discuss spirituality on a variety of topics. Sadly, he passed away.

So in the Christian forum all i basically posted was If anyone had any spiritual experiences with Jesus, if they would like to share any of them. I was interested in hearing some positive stories and I said "no negative junk here please."

People twisted my words big time pretty much insinuating that I was closed minded, only wanted to hear one approach to life, and "christian religion is what the real junk was." That I had no business posting this.

This just really annoyed me because this website used to be so positive and now it's been taken over by angry and bitter people who hate religion. They basically just come to complain and argue, which I find sad because it defeats the whole purpose of the website, which was supposed to be a positive atmosphere.

It feels like you can't even say the word Jesus anymore without someone being offended! The other day I heard of a teacher getting angry with her student for saying "God Bless you," to someone who sneezed. Anyway, it just makes me sad. I'm done with that website and I'm sticking to spark people!

Thanks. And they must have tasted OK because there was only 1 egg left to take home after.

I was concerned that I may have overdone it with the Dijon, but some said they liked it better that way.

emoticon National "High Five" Day

Date When Celebrated : Third Saturday in April

Gimme a high five. As a matter of fact, give everyone you see a High Five!
The "High Five" is a celebratory slapping of hands atop raised arms. It's been a standard for celebration of sporting victories, special event, competitions and many other activities for decades.
It's fun , and easy to celebrate this special day. Give a High Five to everyone you see. This includes friends, family, passersby, and total strangers. The more high fives you give, the better.

Origin of "National High Five Day":
The creation of this special day dates back to 2002. It was created by college students at the University of Virginia. Those students were Conor Lastowka from San Diego, California, Sam Miotke of Corvallis, Oregon, and†Wynn Walent of New York City. They celebrated with lemonade and a profusion of High Fives.

The act of giving a †"High Five", dates back to 1977, when it was first used during a Basketball game. Their congratulatory gesture caught on rapidly, and has been popular ever since.

This is referred to as a "National" day. However, there don't seem to be any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day.

Today, January 24, is NATIONAL COMPLIMENT DAY
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

What a wonderful way to brighten someoneís day or to give credit for a job well done! Give an extra compliment on National Compliment Day which is observed annually on January 24.

A compliment has a powerful effect. It can instill confidence in a child, or validate someoneís hard work. A compliment not only improves the receiverís mood, but it also says something about the giver. It tells them you noticed. Whether we recognize someoneís achievement or their classic style, a compliment can go a long way.

To give a great compliment, first be sincere. People have a way of knowing when we are fake. If you donít mean it, itís worse than getting a thoughtless birthday gift.

Complimenting character versus a new haircut are different rewards. The first says you respect the person and the other tells them you paid attention. Sometimes the receiver needs to hear one or the other, or both.

Human beings like to be unique, original. Strive to compliment what makes a person stand out above the rest. Take the time to reflect on what you admire about the person.

Oh my goodness. I was about to buy a used one of those. That's too bad they are discontinuing it to all of the people who bought one. So can they still use the pedometer part of it at all? I wonder how that works.

emoticon news from SparkPeople if you're using emoticon

Effective Feb 21, members will no longer be able to sync their devices, and the Spark Activity Tracker will become obsolete. Unfortunately, this was not a decision on SP's part, nor something we anticipated. We wish we could allow members to continue using their devices, but it will not be possible given the circumstances.

Although we have not sold the SAT on our site in over a year, we would like to offer some compensation to those members who will need to purchase a new type of tracker.

Therefore, we are offering a $10 Amazon gift card which you can use toward the purchase of another device. Jawbone offers a similar device for $14, which can also be connected to your SparkPeople account. You'll find all of the devices that connect with your SparkPeople account here. These devices offer detailed reporting on SparkPeople similar to what you've come to expect from your SAT.

If you are interested in taking part in this gift card offer, please fill out the form linked below by Monday, February 6th, as no late submissions will be accepted. You will receive your gift card via email on Monday, February 13th. Please be aware that you will no longer be able to sync your SAT data as of Tuesday, February 21st.
