I agree with Ehagfeld - I would have discussed with management, and I would have moved to another machine, because I have done that. Sadly, we have to work together to work together and for whatever reason she felt the need and also though it was okay.

No, to naswer your question, her etiquette was not proper, but only management can make the change. Best wishes.

Yikes! I empathize with what you endured. I probably would have left my concern with the management to ask their opinion. I've already learned not to approach the person personally, because it becomes too riddled with miscommunication and major hurt feelings where ones words can never be taken back very effectively.

Guess that's just another reason I enjoy walking in the great outdoors or using a home DVD. Perhaps I don't play as well with others as I'd like to think I do.

After the fact, it is comical - at the time, I must say it was quite annoying. I use public transportation as it is very convenient for me. I take 3 buses to get to work. I work 4p - 8a shift.(16 hours). I got up yesterday at 9am; left the house by noon, took 2 buses to get to the gym. Hadn't been in several months; starting anew. There were only 2 women in the gym by the time I got there. Got on a treadmill and within minutes, a women got on the machine next to me. She was NOT wearing sneakers, she was wearing hard rubber Shoes. I'm heavy, however, with those shoes on she sounded like a marching army. Then she got on her cell phone and starts talking - in a foreign language no less, seemingly never taking time to pause for air. I couldnt hear the tv., couldn't concentrate on the magazine I was trying to read. It made me crazy. She thumped and thumped on that machine. When she got off, I said great, finally. I looked over, she had just gone to the bathroom and then she was back. I screamed to myself. She walked for about 30 minutes. Should I have gotten off'; spoke with management; said something to her about her phone and shoe attire; move to a different machine, or simply stay put and endure? Ultimately, I did endure, however the experience was very uncomfortable. When I left the gym, I went to work for my 16hr. shift. WoW, what a day. This is in part why I've found many excuses not to go to the gym. I will try not to allow this to discouraged me from going to the gym in the future. emoticon

Blessed!
