Found a tunnel that goes under a street that let's out near a lake. Never knew it existed before. Turned left instead right missed entrance to lake. BTW it is Balboa Lake in Encino, for my Valley peeps. Ended up walking 50 minutes!!!

Spring is most definitely in the air in our area...earlier this week I crossed paths with a snake and am seeing many bees and butterflies out and about. Last weekend I saw a white breasted nuthatch feeding young. emoticon

Morning, just got back from my walk it's a beautiful day out there. I saw a little brown animal about the size of a rabbit dash into a hole under a tree, I wasn't sure what it was but it was another sign that spring is here. Some one told me that if I changed the number of an emoticon I might get a hidden one, wonder what I will get. emoticon number changed to 112

Yesterday I walked along Main Street in Pleasanton while waiting to meet some friends for dinner. I'd never been there before. It's a really vibrant little downtown strip full of eateries and local shops. Seeing individually owned small businesses was a nice change from the chain stores so many towns have now.

Yes, HEALTHYLADY12, the police caught the San Jose arsonist. He had a history of setting similar fires and shouldn't have been out of jail. You're right--what a truly a horrible thing to do to someone's home.

Yesterday afternoon, my boyfriend, a couple of friends, and I went for a four-mile hike in the Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve in King's Mountain. What struck me from our trek along the North Ridge Trail was how clear-cut the this landscape had been back when parts of the Bay Area were still logging country. The relatively new growth of pine covering the hills now provides a testament to how resilient nature can be.

Yesterday, I had a meeting on the Stanford University campus. I had to park quite a distance from my destination, so I got in a good number of steps. That campus is HUGE and seems so shiny and new compared to my alma mater back east. But there was a vibrancy among the mix of modern and Spanish-style buildings. I was inspired by the young students to pick up my pace!

Yesterday, I joined a friend on a walk around her downtown San Jose neighborhood. There's a serial arsonist on the loose at the moment, so we saw two burned-out houses among the beautiful old Craftsman bungalows and stone-faced mansions. It was a shame to see history having gone up in flames. Luckily, no one has been hurt in the fires...yet. Hoping the authorities catch the perpetrator very soon!

I went for a hike through the desert( basically my back yard) and I saw tons of garbage everywhere! Things included: Bra,bathtub, tires, beer bottles, soda cans, barbie HEADS ONLY, and much more garbage =C so sad to see what people do !!!!

Yesterday we went for a 75-minute hike in the Corte Madera Open Space Preserve (man, am I sore today!). We took the Methuselah Trail to see an 1800 year-old redwood tree. It was majestic and gorgeous.

Yesterday was the lowest tide of the year, so my boyfriend and I went to Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach to walk and take in the tidepools. We saw dozens of hermit crabs, tiny fish, and green sea anemones. It was delightful!
