I've had family members who have done it. My son tried it and he only gained weight. My brother did it for awhile, but even though he lost weight, he realized it wasn't the healthiest way to lose. I also have a nephew who has been doing it and lost weight. I'm not sure if he's still doing it.

I didn't like it when my son decided to do it. In fact, I asked my dr. about it. He told me that it isn't healthy and to not do it. Instead I cut back on carbs and eat more whole grains and fruits and veggies.

I would not do it because there are too many things I eat and don't eat that is part of the Keto diet. Two of my grandsons have done it and lost.

I watch my carbs but I do not do KETO.
First, my doctor does not recommend it because it is unbalanced and risky for the heart (not enough freggies and too much fat among other things), and second people regain a lot of weight when they add carbs back.
Also, you have to do so many calculations with the "macros" it is mind boggling!

Portion control and healthy eating is a successful way to eat

I could not imagine not being able to eat fruit and that includes tomato and other good veggies but meats and fats are now healthy, sorry just does not sound right to me

Keto has been getting a lot of press and success stories. For me, this one and others that have come and gone don't seem like long term commitments. These types of diets seem to be an "all or nothing" thing. No carbs, no gluten and so on. What works for me is eating less and exercising more. Portion control and night time eating are what I work on.

There are 2 ladies here in our park doing it.. they both have lost, but one of the ladies, has no energy, looks pale, and her husband says she gets light headed a lot so she cant drive a car any more. But she is happy with her weight loss..and says she doesn't care she is weak or light headed..
Her husband remarked, she will be beautiful in her coffin... yikes

I know people who are successful at losing weight on it, but also have ended up gaining their weight back when they start adding carbs back into their diet. I think that the old fashioned way of cutting back sensibly and moving more is a better choice. I like the Mediterranean based diet, which does focus on less carb based, but you still eat whole grains/fruit- good for you carbs. Eat less, move more.

No, I stick to my old WW exchange plan. There is nothing extreme about it, I have managed to maintain my loss for many years.

Barbara, I do know someone ho has lost over 100 lbs but I wouldn't do that diet b/c of all of the "bad" you are eating.

There are quite a few around here that are doing KETO, but I think it's like a lot of programs when you stop doing it the weight piles back on.

Nancy you are doing it the sensible way.
