Hi Ladies,

I do have an ad blocker. Kitt kind of guided me through with putting one on and it works great except for the chat forum here on the Ruby team and when I write a blog. It's after I type for so long, it is telling me to stop. lol Seriously, it is very aggravating. Jim also made spaghetti for dinner an it was very good. We don't have it often unless it is Valentine's Day or our anniversary and then we go out for it and we both love it. He is very happy about the car. The lady came back too late to go to the notary, but she paid Jim for it and she will be back tomorrow afternoon.

Kitt, I thought maybe the watermelon would be too watery, but it doesn't hurt to try. Pineapple is always awesome. It's like eating candy.

Nancy, Have fun at Hunt Camp. Are you taking Reeses or is your sitter coming over to watch him?

Barbara, I am sorry about your yucky weather. We had that for the weekend and Mon and Tues and now it is much warmer and the sun is back out.

Lainie, You talked about Rocky earlier. You have every reason to be proud of him. I'm glad your spaghetti turned out well.

Kitt, glad you had a good day today and was able to be out most of it. Sorry about your water melon not turning out, but glad the pineapple turned out good. Hope you get some rest this evening and tonight.

Barbara, great minds think alike. lol I haven't tried an ad blocker yet. I'm always so leery of doing anything like that, because there's always problems. I just try to ignore the ads. Hope you have a nice time at your cousin's house this weekend.

Nancy, I freeze mine in plastic containers or freezer bags as well. Spaghetti is one of the things that I still like after it's been frozen. I also do it with lasagna. Those are two things that Rocky doesn't eat, so I always freeze some of the left overs.

Barb and Kathy, Carla told me how to put the ad blocker on and I really haven't had any problems.....I am sorry that the two of you are having trouble. Barb, I am glad you aren't giving up, b/c we would really miss you.

Barb, do you freeze your sauce in glass jars. I usually use plastic freezer containers for mine or freezer bags. I did freeze jam in jars and it hasn't been a problem at all. I just am worried they will get knocked together in the freezer and break.....It is good that Shannon got a few groceries since you are going to be away.

I put add blocker on but it has gotten through, and I understand your frustration Kathy. I was told that Sparks is really bad for pop-ups. Some days I get so annoyed I say I'm not coming back. But then I'd miss all my friends, so I put up with it.

Kathy that is good that Jim sold the car so fast.

Nancy glad you had a good day at the joint centre.

Lainie that's what we had for supper, I freeze my sauce in jars, so just took a jar out and cooked up spaghetti and had italian sausage to go with it.

Shannon picked up a few groceries for me. It's a good thing, because I plan on heading to my cousin's in the morning, so he has enough to make do until I get home Sunday. I usually stop on my way home and get groceries.

Barb, I did have a good day at the joint center.....I had 5 patients this morning and we got a lot done. I had time to visit and chat with others that were in their rooms and then I had enough time to make some folders that are given to each patient before they come for their surgery. Sorry you are having so bad weather...hopefully tomorrow will be better. Glad you don't have to go out to get groceries, maybe tomorrow.

Lainie,, you weather is as good as Barbara's is bad. Glad yours is nice and you like it. So happy Rocky is doing well and his co-workers are impressed with him. Spaghetti sounds good and it always makes the house smell so good while cooking. I always start mine early in the morning and cook it all day until it get nice and thick.

Kathy, sorry you lost what you typed b/c of the pop-up. Do you not have an ad blocker set up. I though you said you did, but maybe I am thinking of someone else. Glad you day is otherwise going well. Great news that you sold your car so quickly. I am sure both the buyer and you guys were so happy about that.

We are going to hunt camp tomorrow so I won't be on here after first in the morning until Sunday.

I am so mad at this thing. I just typed a whole long thing and an advertising video popped on top of it and the whole thing is gone now. I will just say that I am having a pretty good day and had a great therapy session. Jim sold our other car today. We bought the new one two months ago, but he didn't put this one out with the For Sale sign on it until yesterday and it sold today.

It sounds like you are all having a wonderful day and I am happy for you.

Hello Ladies!!

We're having another beautiful sunny day today. It actually got down in the 50's last night and it's in the 60's right now. It should reach the 70's this afternoon. This is just beautiful weather here.

Not much going on here today besides work. I need to sweep and mop the floors. Rocky is going to be driving to Irvine tonight with 3 of his co-workers for a Dribble Meet-Up. Dribble is a website for artists/designers. Rocky has quite a large following on there, which really impressed his co-workers. They've been a little star-struck with Rocky since they met him. He's doing great with his job and I'm so proud of him. I decided to make my home-made spaghetti for dinner tonight since Rocky could care less about it. I love it and will be able to freeze some and have lunch for a couple of days. Just thinking about it makes me hungry. lol

Nancy, hope you're having a great day at the Joint Center.

Barbara, I don't blame you for not wanting to go out in the rain. I don't like driving in the rain.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the day!! Take care!

Hugs,

Lainie

Good morning ladies.

Veronique, that was so good to have the Temple opened after being closed for maintenance. Hoping that Philippe's meds have been adjusted correctly. We had the same rainy day too.

Kathy, that is nice to have just a relaxing evening, that sounds like the same one I had. Don't over do it today.

Lainie, so glad you were able to get your new insurance, hoping you soon get a new doctor. If you move to San Diego hope you won't have to change doctors again.

Nancy have a good day at joint centre.

Kitt how did the watermelon turn out?

Veronique, so happy Temple opened again and you were able to go and that you took us with you. So happy Philippe is doing well now and I, too, hope the meds are corrected for him. Strasburg is a long way for you to go especially at night...do you go 81.......I don't like 81 at all....too many trucks. Sending safe travel wishes for you and Philippe.

Kathy Jo, glad you and Jim got some relaxing time last evening. Take it easy today so you don't get too tired....

I am going to the joint center today so I will check in later.

Thank you ladies for understanding my current limitations. The problem is that I am not a patient person when it comes to issues concerning myself. I did read todays posts and it sounds as though all is going well. We didn't do anything after Jim came home. We both took naps and then Jim fixed dinner and then we just watched tv and we are getting ready to head down the hall to go to bed. I have a busy day tomorrow, but will check in tomorrow night.

Good evening everyone!

Kitt and Nancy - wow, your bear stories are sure scary!
Kitt - yes, this was a sad day. I am saying a prayer for you.
Nancy - I am so happy Larry did well at bowling! And Reese's had a great day too. Good and productive day.
Kathy - we all know that you are limited as to the time you are allowed to spend on line. Do not worry about answering the posts, and please, be reasonable, LOL!
Lainie - I wold have been frustrated with the horrible timing of the computer updating, but thank goodness you were able to do your work anyway. And it is a blessing to have found a good insurance. The deductibles are the same?
Barbara - I hope the hosiery helps. I admire your patience...

Good day at the temple yesterday. It re-opened after closing for 5 weeks for maintenance and repairs (roof). I always go with a friend, and afterwards we had lunch at Philippe's workplace. Bad weather today: downpours for most of the day. The traffic was unbelievable. Tomorrow night we will go to Strasburg, although I do not like going there at night because this makes us go to bed so late (it's 1 hour 20 minutes away). But it is my grandson's 11th birthday, so this is a must visit. I got him several "Spiderman" and "Venom" comics, and a knife I found in Michigan. He collects knives, and I think he will like it. Philippe is doing very well and the bad seizure is now just a memory. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping the meds have been correctly adjusted. Thank you all for thinking of him!

I finally got my application finished for health insurance. My insurance takes effect on 12/1 and I pay the 1st premium by 11/21. It's $45 cheaper than what I have with Humana. Co-Pay is a little higher, but I believe it's the same for any dr. even a specialist. Now I'm searching through the names of the dr.'s to find an Internal Medicine dr. I'm keeping the Human until the new insurance kicks in and then I'll cancel it. That's a load off my mind.

Nancy, glad to hear that Larry did great at bowling today. Hopefully, next week you will do better. Sounds like Reese's had a great time today.

Barb, I didn't do so great at bowling until the last game. Reese's played with a daycare dog that was a rescue almost the whole time. She said they played so well together. He is exhausted and taking a nap now as is Larry. Larry did really well bowling on his first day back....really proud of him for being off 6 weeks and doing so well. We are on different teams.

Kitt, scary for you friend when she was baking pies and the bear appeared and tore the slider from her porch...I would have been screaming too. So glad you got the pineapples and the watermelon done today. Thinking of you regarding your sad events of the day. Sending hugs and prayers your way.

Kathy, so glad you slept better last night and are feeling better today. No problem about not answering the posts.....For now just read them and we know you are here. Please do NOT overdo it and have a setback......You will be able to stay on longer before much more time goes by. Have a good time when Jim gets home no matter what you decide to do.

Lainie, sorry about your computer updating. Wonder why it didn't wait like you requested. Just thinking of moving next year would bother me. You are just getting settled where you are now. Will the cost of living be more in San Diego,......I would think it would. Well, you have a year before you have to worry about that.

Later ladies.

Hello Ladies!!

My morning was messed up when my computer decided to update Windows 8, even though I told it to wait until later. It took over an hour and a half to complete it. Luckily, it came up just in time for me to start confirming the 3 p.m. webinar. I had just finished confirming the 12:30 webinar when it started updating. I had to get my laptop and get on yahoo to let the consumer advisor's know who had confirmed. I usually will call the people if they don't show on time. Luckily, I didn't have to call anyone, because I couldn't. It's just too complicated to get my phone system hooked up to the laptop. At least that's over with now.

Nancy, I hope you and Larry do great with bowling today. Can't wait to hear how Reese's did in daycare today.

Barbara, hope the storms aren't too bad for you today. I haven't seen any rain since I've been in California. They do say that it will rain in January. I'll probably go outside and stand in it. I never thought I would miss the rain.

Kitt, I know it's not easy on the anniversary of our loved ones deaths. It always makes me sad and miss them even more. Hope you can stay busy to keep your mind off of the day. Just think of the happy times.

Kathy, glad you were able to get a good night's sleep and that you're resting while you're waiting for Jim. CA is very pretty. I just love the mountains. They are gorgeous. Our apartment is very roomy and I like the location. Rocky wants to move to San Diego when our lease is up, so that he's closer to work. It usually takes him 45-60 minutes to get there and back depending on the traffic. We live in Chula Vista, which is south of San Diego. This is a huge apartment complex.

Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the day! Take care!

Hugs,

Lainie

Hi Ladies,

I slept well last night and am feeling better today. I paid some bills and I'm just waiting for Jim to get home from today's auction. I don't know what his plans are for this afternoon and early evening. I am just resting now until he gets home.

Thank you for understanding that I am not able to answer all of the posts all of the time yet. I am only suppose to be on for 30 minutes a day and I know that I am on longer than that. I don't always behave well. lol

Barbara, I am sorry that you are having such a bad weather day. Fall is really upon us and we are having more rain this month than we normally do in October.

Nancy, I am sure that Reeses will have a wonderful time with the other dogs and especially since his trainer will be there.

Kitt, My heart is with you today. I am sure the pineapple was a little sweeter after you dehydrated it. That is Jim's favorite dried fruit.

Lainie, How do you like your new home in Ca? Is the weather easier on your asthma?

Have a wonderful day.

Kathy hope you got some rest

Nancy the bears are scary...it use to happen in Colorado too...no food up in the mountains so they go to where the food is...a dear friend had a bear rip off her patio slider to get in her house, she was baking pies.....she screamed and the bear left....she was very lucky.....

I did get the pineapple done and did a watermelon....we still have a few left from our garden, they were not very sweet, so hoping dehydrating them will give my sweetness...I'll let you know....

I'm having a bit of a sad day..Today would have been my Mother's 88 birthday....she died over 11 years ago....also my first husband birthday...he dies about 15 years ago....so I am trying to keep busy...this day will pass and I will survive.....thanks for being here

Barb hope you are having a good day...

Good morning. It's a nasty day out there, lots of wind and rain, and talk of thunder storms later, just hope we don't get them.

Nancy that will be so much fun for Reese's , burn off some of his energy. Good luck with bowling.

Kathy, take it easy, get back into things slowly. Just so good to have you back.

Veronique hope your day at the Temple was a good one, how is Phillipe doing?

Kitt hope you get those pineapples done.

Kathy Jo, you are just beginning to do some of the things that you haven't been able to do for a while, so that may be why you are so tired. Please don't overdo it. Just do what you can easily do and don't push. Take it slow and easy.

We are going bowling today. Before we go, we are going to take Reese's to the place where he had his training for a "play" day. We want him to learn to socialize with other dogs and we well leave him until after bowling. His trainer will be there and he said he will look out for him. I think he will like playing. The dogs that are their each day for day care are exhausted when they go home each day. The room they play in is really huge..as big as my kitchen, family room, dining room, foyer and living room. I hope he likes it. The place is a dog salon, kennel for overnight stays, and for training. He will be there about 4 hours.

I will check in later.

Kathy, glad you had good time with Linda. Don't worry about posting to all the posts. We understand and I'm sure the dr. wouldn't want you to be overdoing it. Hope you have a great night's rest. Take care!

Hi Ladies,

I did read all of your posts, but I am very tired this evening and I'm just not up to responding to each of you. Just know that I did read through today's posts and found your day very interesting. Linda and I did go shopping and I did laundry also. We had a good time, but after a couple of hours, I was ready to come home. I will try to respond to each of you tomorrow.

Lainie, she is in the city limits (22K people) and they got 19 bears last year. 3 were in my friend Karen's tree in her front yard. Also, another day they were at her garage door trying to get in. They left her area and went over and climbed trees in the Sonic parking lot. They were captured there. So far I haven't seen any, but we are only 5 minutes from either of them, but different directions. There was no food in the mountains and woods so they came to town "shopping"......

Barb, I thought it might be for swelling.....so glad that will work for you.....

Lainie, that is such a shame that the person couldn't finish your application on the phone today. I hope that you will be able to get that taken care of this evening. I do realize you need to keep the insurance you have until you get the new. Will the old still pay since you are in California or for only a certain amount of time. I hope you can get this cleared up right away. I hope you find a doctor really soon too. I am glad your rash is better and I also pray that it continues to get better and clears up completely. I am glad the diuretic is helping with your water retention. Larry has to take potassium also but b/c the diuretic depletes it. He also takes it twice a day.

Kathy Jo, I am sorry it is going to take so long for the collarbone area to get well. That is a long time. I hope it will at least feel better as time goes by.

We had a nice dinner and Deborah went home shortly after b/c she doesn't like to take her dogs out after dark. There was a bear in her peach trees in the yard last year when she let them out. She had the trees taken down but now she is worried that there may be a fox or something outside so she always goes out with them and stays right beside them. She has 2 Bichons. (sp) I am heading south to watch my today's soap.... emoticon

Hello Ladies!

I'm having a busy day with work and trying to get a dr.'s appointment. The dr. I wanted to go to won't take my insurance, which is strange because he is on the list that Humana put out. It's all very confusing. My insurance has Georgia on it and that may be the cause. So now I'm having to go through California, which means filling out a whole new application and getting approved. I was on the phone with someone who was filling out the application for me and then she hit a snag. Their system was done and it wouldn't complete the application. So, when I'm done working, I have to either call or go on line to complete my application. Who knows how long it will take. I'm just hoping and praying it won't cost more than what I'm already paying. I can't cancel this insurance until I get the new insurance just in case I might need to go to Urgent Care.

My rash looks better today. It's not as red. I think this cream is working. I just pray it continues to get better.

Veronique, thank you for taking us to Temple today. Hope you have a great day! Glad to hear that Phillippe is doing better.

Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear that it's going to take a year to recover because of the collar bone. Ouch! Hope you enjoyed your time out with Linda.

Nancy, glad to hear that Larry is doing good. Hope he enjoyed the massage today. Hope you enjoy dinner tonight with Deborah. Sorry about your fitbit. When I washed mine, it was dead. Even a new battery didn't work. Glad yours is still working.

Kitt, that sounds like a great idea to have a garage for the 5th wheel. Are you going to do a complete garage or a car port? That was a great deal on pineapples. Do you have a food dehydrator or do you just use your regular oven? Rocky has one of the bracelet fitbits and he likes it.

Barbara, glad you had a good day at the office. I dislike the compression socks. Do you take a diuretic to help with the retention? I take Torsimide, which is pretty strong. I have to take a potassium pill with it. In fact, my dr. in Savannah started having me take 2 potassium pills, one in the morning and one in the evening. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but the fluid isn't as bad as it used to be.

Hope everyone has a great evening! Take care!

Hugs,

Lainie

Nancy it's to keep the swelling down, that's why I need to wear my compression socks.

Kitt, Carla has a bracelet.....check out everything....b/c they are coming out with some new items. That will be a nice gift to you..... So far, the Fitbit is still working. Thank you for the comment regarding my blog

Barb, glad you had a productive day at work.....they always is such a good feeling. I know what you mean about a favorite meal. Larry's has lots of carbs, but lots of fiber and protein too. Thanks for the nice comment on my blog.... I hope since they told you not to wear the brace that your knees don't starting hurting so badly again. I wonder the same thing you do. Are the compression stockings for the diabetes or b/c of your knee problem to help keep swelling down.

Kitt, I hope tomorrow will be a good day for the pineapples too. It was nice that you got to talk with your sister.....you can always do the dehydrating another day.

Hi everyone. I was sparking this morning, then ran out of time and had to leave for the office, so didn't make it here this morning.

Had a good, productive day.

Veronique, that is good that Philippe is doing better, getting to bed will help. Thanks for taking all of us to the Temple today.

Kathy that is so good that therapy is going well, but oh my one year because of the collar bone. Enjoy your time out with Linda.

Kitt what a great deal on pineapples, I'll bet they are delicious hydrated. I also loved your blog today.

Nancy, your blog was also good. Oh no, your poor fitbit. Yes you are lucky it will be fine. Sometimes our favourite meals aren't anything fancy. I have a friend who always wants her favourite meal for her birthday, mashed potato, cream style corn and fried bologna. I always laugh when I think of this.

Lainie, hope this cream will work, and it doesn't get infected.

I can't remember if I told you this, but when I went to see the knee specialist he told me not to wear my knee brace, but was more concerned looking at my legs that I get my compression socks on. I hadn't worn them all summer because I wear capris and shorts. So they are back on, the brace is off. Sometimes you wonder if anyone knows what best for you. I will say my knee isn't paining like it was before the brace.

thanks Nancy....you blog was so good to read as well...I do think we should all spend more time thinking about how good we do than dwell on the bad days...this is a journey not a race.

Hope your fit bit works....
wonder if anyone has the bracelet type of tracker and if so how do you like it....I'm going to give my self a gift of one if I'm at goal weight in Dec. for my maintenance anniversary ....looking at the different types....

Kitt, that was a nice blog you wrote. It inspired me to write one too. The things we do to keep on track do seem silly sometimes, but we have to be silly sometimes. We can't always be so serious. The pineapple sounds really good. I love pineapple. I guess it is a good idea to have a place to park the 5th wheel. You can always take a little venture and not so long a vacation for this year.

Well, my Fitbit got a bath in the washer yesterday. I can't believe that is the second time I have done that. Both times, I have been so lucky b/c it seems to be fine. I guess a couple of days will tell the truthful tale. I hope it continues to work. The other time was over a year ago.

Hubby has just fixed our lunch so I guess I better get in there to eat it.

Veronique, what fun to go and pick apples....I am so happy to hear that Philippe is doing well and wants to go back to work. Good idea for early bedtime so he can get plenty of rest. Thank you for letting us know you may be MIA part of the week so we won't worry when you aren't here. Thank you for taking us Ruby ladies to Temple with you.

Kathy Jo, So happy the therapy is going well. It will be nice to go shopping with Linda today. How is Chelsea.....did she get her problem taken care of. I pray that she did. As far as baking and freezing fall goodies, the only thing I did was with the apples we got a little while back.

Lainie, I am glad the cream helps your rash.....I hope you will be able to get an appt soon with the new doctor. You really need (and I know you know this) a doctor to turn to if you have a problem with your sugar or if you can't get the rash controlled.

Larry is going for a massage today and then we are having Deborah over for dinner. Larry's favorite meal tonight (just because). It is certainly nothing fancy just a "country" dinner like he had growing up. My clothes are all washed, so no laundry today. Reese's is doing pretty well too. Once in a while he steals, but nothing like before....not even each day........lol

Wow, I didn't realize that I hadn't posted today, well, today for me. I'm doing okay. I found some cream that I was given last year when I had a rash. I'm starting to use it today. As long as I have the cream on, it doesn't itch. I finally found a dr. that I can go to, but it's next to impossible to get through to the appointment center. I'm going to try again tomorrow. Hopefully, it won't be as busy tomorrow as it was on Monday. If it looks like it's getting worse, I will go to Urgent Care. So far it looked better than it did yesterday.

Time for bed! I'll try to catch up with everyone tomorrow. Take care!!

Hugs,

Lainie

Hi Ladies,

As soon as the clock hit 12:00, I thought new day-another 30 minutes. lol I am going to bed in a few minutes though. Jim will be working the auction today and my friend, Linda, and I are going out for a little light shopping this afternoon. I also have 4 loads of laundry to do. I have to put my arm sling back on when I do laundry as a reminder not to pull on the clothes with my right arm. Therapy went very well today and the muscles are really stretching like they should. Most of my pain is from the removed collar bone. They told me a year to recover and two months is over already. My niece, Chelsea, came to visit again tonight after she got off work. She had forgot to bring Jim's card when she was here yesterday, so she came back tonight and she stayed and visited for a couple of hours. It made for a wonderful evening.

Barbara, I'm glad that you had a day without too much to do except a little laundry. It seems like all of us are always running our washing machines.

Nancy, I am happy that Larry can resume bowling. The worse is over now and soon he will be doing everything that he did before. Have you been baking and freezing any fall goodies?

Lainie, I am worried about your rash getting infected. If you can't get into a doctor right away, please go to an Urgent Care before that happens. I am so sorry that you can't take that medicine.

Kitt, I am almost positive that you have been baking and freezing. I am still not allowed to cook or bake, so no goodies are going into our freezer this Fall. My SIL did bring us some goodies yesterday and Jim has been happily munching.

Veronique, It is good that you are making Phillippe go to bed early right now until he is fully recovered. I just can't imagine what a seizure like that took out of him. Thank you for taking us all to Temple with you. It is so appreciated.

Thanks to all of you for the very warm welcome back.

Hello ladies!

Kathy - I am so happy to see you! And with a lot of good news too. To have Jamie around is such joy and sunshine for you!
Lainie - this rash sounds terrible! I hope the doctor can find something to help AND give you a diabetes med that works.
Nancy - I am so glad Larry is doing well. What a relief for you!

We had a good week end: we went to Winchester to pick apples with my middle son and his family. We got some Braeburn, which I really like. Philippe is doing well, but he is very tired (always after bad episodes). He insisted on going back to work though. So I am making him go to bed very early to make sure he gets his rest.
I have a very busy week, so I may not be posting every day (do not worry!).
I am going to the temple tomorrow morning and will be taking you all with me.
