Whole Foods.

I have worked for several grocery stores and it is the most legit in my personal opinion. Not necessarily company politics, but...When I buy my foods there I am overall more highly satisfied than some other options I have pursued.

I so would love to go to my local farmer's market, but I don't have a car and public transportation in my small city is horrible. So I have to rely on local stores that I can walk to. Luckily, I live in an area with quite a bit of shopping. The closest is Walmart (which I go to also because I'm on a budget). But once a week I go to the Sprouts Market (which is like Whole Foods but on a smaller scale) which is further away. Their prices are higher, of course, but I can get some nice organic stuff there.

There used to be this great little market in Seattle that sold 90% fresh, local produce outside under awnings. The rest of the market was a small building that sold staples like olive oil, tamari, eggs, cheese, etcetera. It was almost impossible to eat poorly when shopping there. emoticon I miss it.

Of course there are things I cannot get at the Farmer's markets... and we have them in different places nearby...most days of the week. So I have to go to the grocery... Everything here, although i live in a large city area..............is at least 2 miles away...

I recently moved to a new neighborhood that has been officially designated as a 'food desert'. Though I hate having to drive a long way to a grocery store, I now make a point of walking to my local farmers market every week.

What does everybody else have to do to get their food?
