The main thing is cutting out the junk carbs that's loaded in sugar. Lean proteins and dark green leafy veggies are the way to go.

I cook for a family member who is a part time vegetarian. I know protein is a big thing to handle carbs. Can anyone who is a diabetic comment on the things you do?
