I'm glad you had a great day Cyndie! Greg and I like low key too. The only thing I ask is that I don't have to cook. LOL! It doesn't matter if it's McDonald's or something just as small. :)

Happy Birthday Bonnie!! Sounds like a nice day! Mmmm, chocolate sppoons for your cocoa, now that sounds like a good gift! Not to mention the little ones singing Happy birthday to you! Wishing you the best today and always!

Happy Anniversary Cyndie & Jimmy! May you enjoy many, many more years of love, laughter and happiness!

Susi-- Glad Greg wasn't hurt! It was a bummer of an evening since I planned on more, but I should've known.... I was so mad because I knew he was coming down with the crud once again and he wouldn't go to the doctor! So here he is all sick, coughing, fever and everything! I keep trying to put him to bed, but once again he won't listen! Hee.

I hope I am not getting it. got those sniffles still and feel yucky. I do feel bdbad we couldn't do our traditional New Year's meal, but oh well. I really wasn't feeling up to company anyhow! Maybe we can do a late celebration. OK, goodnight!

Happy New Year!

Greg and I went to bed about 9 last night. :) We had some New Year's Eve snacks before that. My bad, but it's our tradition. :)

I hope Anthony feels better today. Sorry you had such a bummer evening. :(

Greg fell off a step stool last night that he didn't have hooked properly when he was changing the batteries in the smoke detector. He twisted his ankle a bit, but it didn't swell and wasn't hurting last night, so he's okay. Just had to get the last one in for the year. Hehe.

Have a wonderful and healthy New Year! HUGS!

Happy New Year Valley Gal Pals! Wish I was at nexus or the Pine Valley Inn or even the Goal Post for a NYE celebration. Instead I am at home with a sick husband. We went out to eat, but he had to go sit in the car and turn the heat up because of chills. but, no, we couldn't go home because he told Dad we would take him out. OK, I'm just mad about the whole thing. this happens just aobut every new year's eve. I'm up alone. Oh well.

Wishing all of you healthy hubbies and happey, healthy 2015 to all of us! Life is good.

It has to be a guy thing, Melissa, about the colds and getting really sick before they do anything about it. Greg's the same way. But if I have one little cough he's wanting me to go to the doctor.

That sounds like a great plan Cyndie. :) Greg and I will probably be asleep long before the ball drops. LOL!

Bonnie, I'm sure your DH was thrilled that you shared your cold with him!

Melissa, don't let Anthony share his cold with you! Looking into hospice for youe MIL is probably a good idea.

Susi, Jimmy and I will be staying home, watching the ball drop and drinking champagne. emoticon

And I agree, life in the Valley isn't the same without Missy. emoticon Hopefully she's having a good time with the Bear family!

Ha. Nice of you to share your cold with your husband Bonnie! I'm sure he appreciates that. Y'all are both too much of early birds for me!!

Susi-- Hahaha! glad someone keeps the roosters straight! Better you than me I say! All I have to say is that it is not my job to judge others. Only the good Lord does know. Still, even if I believed it, I wouldn't tell a person who just lost her brother how he was going to burn in Hell. She was all about her brother dying and what a good man he was.... He beat his wife senseless more times than anyone could count and then had sex with his own daughter and then gave her to his other brother to have sex with. Guess since there was all kinds of incest in the Bible, all of that is OK. MIL said a child could stop a man from having sex with her. Yeah. but, again, I can't make a judgement against her because it is not up to me. Just saying.... Not knocking!

Got 70 minutes of fitness in today. We don't take our decorations down until after new year's day. It is sad when the house has no more decorations! Just kinda blah! One year when we were little my parents left the tree up and we decorated it differently for every month! I think they finally took it down after all the ties on it for Father's Day! HeeHee!

OK, tired once again. guess that is a good thing! Anthony is in there coughing and sniffling. I'd rather he not share his with me. He won't take anything until it turns into pneumonia which it undoubtedly will.... It always does. He is prone to it and never takes care of himself until it is too late. Don't know what that is all about! Ah, men. goodnight!!

I'm the one who wakes the roosters up so they'll crow on time Melissa. LOL! I'm usually always up early. I don't have anything against gays as long as they leave me alone. The Bible does say.."Man shall not lie with man and woman shall not lie with woman." I figure it's their business not mine. Only the Lord knows what He'll do when they pass on.

I'm glad you have something planned for New Year's Eve. I know you will have a lot of fun. Hopefully Anthony with agree to go to the dance with you. It would be good for him to get out and have some enjoyment too. :)

I miss Missy too when she's not here. *sigh*

That sure wasn't a very good dream you had. Greg always knows when my bones are grouching cause I moan in my sleep and wake him up. :( I hope they lighten up for you. We all do have a wonderful life even with the ups and downs we have. We have each other to hang on to and that's important. :)

Well, according to my E-mail, Susi, you were up bright and early posting on the thread! Too early for this woman! Hee. Thanks for the info about Hospice there. I'll look it up today. I don't doubt that her head is messed up, but I think she feels she can manipulate her husband into taking her home by not eating and won't she be surprised when she wakes up dead? She may be even more surprised when she wakes up in the company of the devil. She said my brother is burning in hell because he is gay. Well, my brother may be, I don't know, but I do know what the Bible says and what people say the Bible says and seems to me if you are in love, and kind to everyone, and try your best to be a good person all around then you are not shuddled to hell. I don't know. I also know the Bible is the word of God as written by men, so... That's all I'm saying. Anyhow, I will check into Hospice. but, I feel she won't qualify. Who knows? I've never had to deal with a sick person like her.

We go out with the "old folks" on New Year's Eve. I honestly don't remember what we did last year. The year before was when mom died so we didn't go out with the gang. This year they invited us out again and we are going. My friend owns a dance studio and they are having a ballroom bash and I would like to go to that after dinner, but sort of doubt I will get Anthony to go. We shall see.

I have to admit that I miss Missy when she is not around! HeeHee! I miss her little heehees and her cub stories!

I had a dream last night that I was in the orthopedic MD's office and I was in great pain.... All my broken bones were hurting and swelled up! But, there were lines of people there. Some were drug seeking and some needed help. My mom was there. I must've been in real pain during the night to dream like that... So, I woke up and decided against Curves today. I can't make my 12 visits for the month anyhow, so I took a day off. I still feel like I am on the edge of a cold and my bones do ache. We had some snow flurries this AM too and probably why I am achey! Ah, life! but, you know what? I'm stressed, I'm achey, I'm not feeling my best, but I love it! I am here and I have great Valley Gal Pals and I am alive!! I love it! I love to hear music, pet my dog, walk around while tracking my food.... I love it!! Life is good!

I'd do good without the eggs Bonnie, but the rest of it sure sounds yummy and easy too! :) Thank you! :) I'm going to have to try that sometime. :)

I'm glad you get a day and a half off work Cyndie. :) Do you have any plans for them? We don't go out and Greg will have to work New Year's Eve, but it's day shift and he'll be off on New Year's Day. :) No plans though.

It was baking SODA Melissa. :) I would guess it's the insurance companies and the FDA who set the numbers. I know some people who are tickled when their numbers are in the 200's. I guess since I'm pretty new at this is why it confuses me so much. My A1C has never been higher than 6.3. Oh well. I do know that the insurance companies work with the drug companies or why else would some insurance companies pay full for certain test strips and only a little that aren't on their "List" of preferred drugs?

Doesn't your MIL have a living will or a POA for health care? If she's not good enough to make decisions for her care your FIL should be able to.
Hospice will only take over if a person is sent home to die. If there's no way they'll ever come out of it and have only a little time to live. Here, our Hospice works on a free basis to the families, they are paid by medicare and they bill medicare and we don't have to do anything. I don't know how they work in other states though. I doubt your FIL would be able to handle her care without help at this point.

To be honest, I'm not sure what fat back is either.... It tastes like bacon. I think it is literally the fat off the back of a pig! I didn't used to like black eye peas, but I do now!

Bonnie-- the strata does sound good and nice to have to pop in the oven in the morning!

Susi-- I do wonder what they tell people who are not diabetics. Well, what I've read is that they (no one tells us who "they" are) have lowered the numbers for diagnosing diabetes and so many people like yourself are now on meds. 134 is pretty awesome after cookies! I hope they are not drug companies! That sounds easy enough for the bean soup.... I do like the idea of taking the toot out! I didn't know that about baking soda or was it powder.... Will have to go back and check! Hee.

Cyndie-- glad you get another day off, but yuck having a day off and then going back for just 1 day! I found that Jessica Smith extended the quic fit holiday bootcamp, so there are workouts posted for you if you wish! I'm doing them! the new bootcamp will begin on Jan. 5.

MIL refused to eat, drink or even answer anyone today. don't know if it is her being a brat or she is gone. They said a decision had to be made, but Anthony is not clear on what decision. Feeding tube? They said that if she refuses the feeding tube they can't put it in... I find that hard to believe for a woman who is not in her right mind. but, we probably have to have a judge declare her unable to make decisions and all that. she'll be dead by then. Well, one would assume she would be dead. Who knows? I truly feel like she won't die until she takes her husband and son with her. That is what they get for loving her. nice lady, ay?

Do any of you know on what criteria Hospice will provide care at home? Does a MD have to declare the person dying? Who pays for hospice? Will Medicare? Maybe if they take her home she will get better since she got her bratty way? I don't know any more.

OK, very sleepy. going to bed! Nighty night!

Strata-layer of toasted bread cubes, layer of cooked sausage, layer of hash brown potatoes (if you would like) scrambled eggs poured over topped with cheese. Let it sit in the frig overnight bake for 45 min at 350 and serve. I don't do blackeyed peas or cabbage on New Years either

Melissa, I just put the beans in a crockpot with some ham chunks and pepper. I don't soak them over night, just put them on early in the morning. I usually add about a teaspoon of baking soda too, it helps take the toot out of them. Hehe! Of course I have to have fresh cornbread with them too. :)

Wow on all the foods for New Year's Day! I'm not into black eyed peas or fatback, don't even know what fatback is. LOL! I hear it all the time though.

I'm glad the peroxide is helping clearing the sore up. Yea, I think doctor's do that when they don't know what else to say. Wonder what they tell the ones who don't have diabetes? LOL! I must be doing fairly okay, I had a bad cookie binge the other night when Greg was on evenings, and the next morning my sugar was only 134 which surprised me after all that. I had 5 cookies...my BAD! (boredom eating) *sigh*

Your MIL must have idiots for doctors too. It's past time they put her on a feeding tube. Shame on them. I'd like to say she doesn't know what she's doing "torturing" FIL and Anthony, but she's done it when she was in her right mind, but her illness is making it much worse. I just wish the guys could understand that and blow it off when she starts in.

Back to work for you Cyndie? :(

Hi Melissa,

I'm happy to hear that your back is better. I don't blame you for being frustrated by lazy doctors who don't bother trying to get to the bottom of things.

I look forward to starting our new boot camp in the new year. I did a Leslie Sansone video today.

Too bad about your MIL. I'll keep her and the rest of your family in my prayers.

Hugs,

hello my Valley Chickadees! Hope everyone is doing well. Not too long until we start a brand new year!

OK, bonnie, I need to know too.... Whwhat is strata?

i'm another who can't be hammed out! I want to make a ham and bean soup. does anyone have a recipe? You know, like bean with bacon soup, but ham and navy beans.

for new year's day we have the whole kit and kaboodle! We mix our 2 family's traditions and have it all.... A pork roast and sauerkraut from my side and black eye peas, fat back, and greens from his side along with mashed tates. We make turnip salad, which is a type of greens and not collard greens. We make fat back instead of hog jowls! HeeHee! the black eye peas are for luck, the greens for money and not sure about the fat back.... Alot of folks have pork of some sort on new year's day. Not sure why.

Susi-- i looked it up online and it seems it is inphatigo (sp?) on my back. It is a staph infection of the skin. but, it does not explain how or why I get it on my lower back. Most of the time it is on the face. And, infection has to get in somehow1 but, not to make anyone sick, it started oozing and i put peroxide on it and it is clearing up. so, no doctor this time! It makes me so made when they attribute everything to diabetes! It is just another way of saying we don't know!

Twyndie-- We had a really good ham this year! I think we will do hame and eggs for dinnter tomorrow. Dad's work always gave them a Christmas turkey and Dad hates turkey! Anthony's boss gives them money! Yay!

my MIL is down to 110 pounds. she is literally like a bag of bones. She just won't eat. I don't know if they are going to put the feeding tube in or not. I think they should at least try it. But, lack of nutrients and her breathing issues have her mind totally messed up. And, she continues to torture Anthony and his Dad.

well, that's all for now! I'll be starting a new bootcamp on the 4th! Hope everyone is doing well! Hope colds are clearing up and everyone is feeling tip top1 I'm actually ready to get back to a more normal schedule! Goodnight!
