hehehe...
i'm glad i'm not the only one frustrated. i know other women must have the same problems, but you know how it goes...when you're out shopping it's just you against the fashion world! LOL!

welp, i think i got an outfit squared away. after lots of purchases (and returns, because i mixed and matched!) i ended up getting a pair of wide-leg "bleached khaki" colored dress pants at Walmart, a shirt and shoes at a local department store, and a jacket at a local consignment shop!

and the shoes are oh-so-cute... www.amazon.com/Skechers-Womens-Girl-

and FYI, i did NOT pay that much for them! they were on clearance so i was totally excited! (i just wanted you to see them. hehe.) they are like a mini-wedge and are very stable. i wont be able to wear them tons for long periods of time b/c of arch issues, but they will work fine for my rare dress up needs AND will look super cute with a pair of capris and nice shirt for date nights emoticon

so thanks for the girly support--i really appreciate it!!!

AMEN on the shoes thing too. I also have wide size 10 to 11 depending on the shoe and I have the same issue with finding wide shoes. I have bad ankles so my feet swell when I am on them to much. Gee-- I am a teacher, so that happens most days. I need flat shoes that are wide. Those two combos don't seem to come around much these days. Kris

oh You all are too funny, you were telling my life story right?

Every single time my girlfriends and I would go out "clothes shopping" they would say: Tina at least try this on, I hated everything.

Even in the dressing room they would make me come out and show them, I hated it, I would say here comes the whale in ruffles, ugh.

Plus, why in the heck can not 1 SINGLE SHOE STORE make women's size 11 wide, WIDE WIDTH being the operative word here???

They always say: you can order online ma'am and some stores will even ship it for free.
Well, whoopeeEadeedooooo for me then.
Ah, no you don't understand, I have large, WIDE feet, I need to try these on.

Gosh, get a clue clothes/shoes industry, we're not all a size 2!

I soooo understnad!
I have a long torso, long legs, and big, funky feet!
You know those 'fitted' blouses or high waisted dresses, that are gathered in beneath one's 'chest'. The always ride a little to high for me, that's alll I will say...
I never knew for a very long time that pants are supposed to actually go to ones ankles, not 3 inches above...
and shoes, ohhh, shoes... I wear 10.5/ 11 wide; I also have narrow ankles and wear custom orthotics.... try finding something that fits and doesn't look like men's boots in a normal store....

Yes, I feel your pain. I agree that some people in fashion NEVER think above a 16 when it comes to practical AND fun. They seem to think that we have to choose one or the other- either pratical or fun. Kris

okay, i just have to get it off my (too big) chest! LOL! emoticon

hubby and i are going to an evening wedding/reception this friday. his friend is a bit well-to-do (we're as middle class as it gets!) so i figured i better splurge a little and buy a new outfit to wear as all my dress clothes are black, frumpy and dont fit right!

so i started with a new bra from Lane Bryant. underwire. (which i dont normally do tho i am a DDD!) works like a charm--makes my shirts look and fit WAY better. the girls arent hanging to my waist! LOL! i'll probably only wear it when we go out or i need to dress up!

but now the problem is...everything else! LOL! anyone else ever watch "What Not to Wear" on TLC? that's all i can think about every time i try something on! NOTHING fits me. i thought i'd try a nice pair of Dockers--those ones that look denim-y but arent. they're really in! why in the heck do they put stupid pockets in the front? they stick out and ruin any shape the pants help create! no other dress pants look nice. they make me look fat, short, misshapen and depressed!! emoticon

okay there's vent #1ish. lol.

WHY in the heck do any shirts over a size 14 have BIG NECKS??? the kind where you're always fidgeting to cover up your bra strap. dont they know big girls sometimes have big boobs?? so why do i want this baggy shirt with a looseygoosey neck to flash my cleavage every time i bend over or move my arms? or accentuate my triple chins?? OYYyyyyyy!!!!!!

okay well i do have to say i got a very nice button up shirt w/collar at Lane Bryant. but it's short sleeved so i realllly want a cute little short jacket to wear with it because it's still a bit chilly here in WI and i dont have a nice dressy coat. but i havent been able to find one that will fit over my boobs and button without looking like it's going to pop the buttons! and the ones that DO fit are sweatery and look like the knitted afghans on my gramma's couch...or baggy and make me look like a sad fat chick who has to buy mega-huge clothes. emoticon

okay. one last whine. SHOES. i have sucky ankles and as badly as i want to wear some cute wedges it's just not gonna happen. heels of any kind and me are dangerous! but the sad fact remains that more than likely i'll end up buying pants that are too long (because short lengths are too short and average are too long!) so i need something to make up for the extra length. i guess flats seem to be back in style this year, so maybe i'll get lucky and can wear something cute that won't cause me to turn my ankles.

emoticon

anyone else with me on dress clothes or just clothes in general? let's have it out! it's springtime and we're all gonna be wanting to get a few new threads. i need to know i'm not the only one who can shop for 4 hours and come home with nothing but staticy hair and a craving for a HUGE frozen custard sundae and chick flicks! (which is sad, cause i hate chick flicks. LOL.)

and if any of you are fashionistas, id LOVE your tips and advice!!!
