We live on a dark street with a steep hill. We weren't getting Trick-o-Treat-ers either so one year I didn't buy anything... and would you believe it? We got some kids come to the door!! We had to scramble around to find something. Thank goodness they were some of our neighbors bringing their babies by. I had homemade cookies that I offered them. Now we stay prepared with just a bag at least!

We have never had a single trick-or-treater in the 20 years I've lived in my condo so I don't buy Halloween candy (thank goodness). emoticon

However, when I'm on a big project, I sometimes do get a box of gobstoppers or bag of chocolate.

Athena that's the same way my husband feels. He can't believe I will eat them! And as for the Peeps... I love them when they have been opened for a few days and get harder. They make them now for every holiday, not just for Easter, so I'm in big trouble when I'm around them. All the candy corn is gone, and I haven't purchased any Peeps this year. I've been trying to be better about that kind of stuff!

I'm really not much of a candy person but if it's there, I'll eat it! As for candy corn, yuck. Puts my teeth on edge, lol.

I love the candy corn too but can take or leave the peeps I remember those mostly at Easter. The candy corn I buy and use for Thanksgiving to make the Oreo cookie turkeys to send to my sister's 2nd grade class so I have to be careful and keep those out of my sight and then make sure I use them all as well as the Oreo cookies too.

Great suggestions... and most of them I've done, but some I haven't.

First of all we live in an area that is dark and seldom visited by Trick-o-Treat-er's. It's about the only time I have candy in the house and DH loves for me to get the mini-bars of Snickers, etc. I always buy them practically on the day before, and when Halloween if over I put them away. Out of sight out of mind.

My biggest temptations are the candy corns (if you read my blog you would know that), AND I love Peeps! DH can't stand either of those so I have to be very careful having those in the house.
