I went to the store today and while I was there I bought some dried figs! I'll have to be careful... dried fruit has a lot of calories!

colette, i'm so glad you found them !!!
i know what you mean about the shipping charges. i heard they went up yesterday for the postal service..... all except the postage stamp. that was a great idea to check with the health food store. there's only one here in tuscaloosa and i went there for some himalayan salt i saw on dr. oz and some coconut oil. i tend to forget about it until something comes up that you can't find other places.

Debra, thanks for making me think outside the box. I looked online, and Amazon has them, but not with Prime free shipping. The shipping online for any sites is a little much. I could get my fix with Fig Newtons.

But I started thinking. And I called a health food store in the area, and they have three kinds of dried figs for around $4.50-$5.50, so that's where I'll be off to when I go over that way to the library today.

I LOVE figs. I would buy a circle package of string figs (mostly sold around Christmas time) and eat 3 a day (100 calories). I figured it was sweet, chewy, and full of fiber.

As of about two weeks agpo, I can't get them anymore. The only thing I can find now is a bag of Mission Figs. I think they are by Sun Maid. They are too small and moist. I will probably buy one or two before next Christmas, but I love the string figs.
