I have to admit, my second Westie (Jolie) came from a pet store. But that was before I knew much about puppy mills.

My b-in-l is a manager for PetSmart. They do NOT sell puppies or kittens as they have partnered with the Humane Society.

the pet store here that sold the puppies went out of business so we don't have that situation now. we have a Pet Supplies Plus that has an adoption room by T-Town Paws with dogs and cats that have been rescued, fostered, and trained so they can get a home. they haven't had westies here for adoption. my sister adopted her dog from there and he has been the best dog. he was rescued in a drug bust, there were 8 puppies. they fully trained him before he was adopted. he has been her baby for 8 years. a few weeks ago he woke up blind and is undergoing treatment to try to restore the sight in one eye.

i think it is a wonderful joint program that Pet Supplies Plus has with T-Town Paws to get these pets a home. it's a shame other pet stores use puppy mills to get and sell puppies when they could help homeless pets get a home instead.

we had kirby and la la la in the T-Town Paws calendar contest and they made it in the calendar every year we entered them until i finally retired them. it's one of the biggest fundraisers to help homeless pets.
do they have something like that where you live, that is something you can do to help that is fun too. usually there are fundraisers of some type in every city going on at different times of the year to help homeless pets. you can look into that, i know it's not stopping the puppy mills but it does help the homeless pets. and usually these organizations have literature they hand out on puppy mills.

Hello everyone! My broher and I decided to get chinese food for my cheat meal for the week and the chinese place is right beside a pet store. It is the same pet store that I got my scottie at. I know I am not supposed to get my dogs at a pet store, but I wanted to save him. They are a good one, but I know that they get their puppies from puppy mills. Anyways, I saw this little westie female pup and she is so little and so cute. I wanted to buy her to get her out of there. My heart is so broken because if you support the pet stores they support puppy mills, but those poor babies!!! We stood there at her window for 15 mins and couldn't leave her. I almost asked to hold her, but know if I did, I would buy her. I know I can't go into these pet stores, but I didn't think they would have a westie. I am just praying that she gets a good home. I almost want to buy her for my mom because she looks like she was the run and is really small. How can we make more of an impact to stop these pet stores and puppy mills???
