I am sorry for the loss of your Archbishop and your friend's sponsored elderly person. I hope that hear about her soon. Yes, it's certainly a tragedy.

I am so sorry for the loss of those two missionaries; they truly gave up their lives trying to witness to others and to make their lives better. We're Catholic, and the Archbishop of Haiti was also killed. A close friend of mine sponsors an elderly person in Haiti, and of course she has no idea what has happened with her friend.

We're Methodist and lost two members in the earthquake, not from our local church but the denomination. We gave to United Methodist Committee on Relief who were already there trying to build hospitals. The director lost his life in the Hotel collapse and another person who went there to volunteer help lost her life. It certainly is a tragedy and seems to bring out the best and worst in people. We have also been having small earthquakes here in Oklahoma. Thank you for posting the information.

it is so horrific what has happened there. these people desperately need help. thank you for posting your list and links.
i know some of our team lives in earthquake prone areas and know what it's like to go through one. poeple don't know that alabama is also on a fault line. we have started having small earthquakes in the last 3 years. we felt one here a couple years ago and had to repace a few bricks on one wall. it had me tossing in my bed. it was so wierd. i hope we don't start having more of them. living in earthqake zones really lets you know that someday that could be us.
i can't even imagine how those people have made it through this this long without food and water. thanks again for the info

I know that this doesn't exactly fit the focus of our team, but I am deeply disturbed about the tragedy in Haiti. I'm posting this list of charities that we were given at church yesterday in case anyone would like to donate for Haitian relief. I was horrified when I saw some of the news stories yesterday; without going into detailed, there is not a single one of us who would allow our dogs to live that way.

Our priest also included three sites for gauging the efficiency and integrity of a charity, and I've included those at the bottom. (He said he trusted these groups but that we can check them out for ourselves. I think they're very useful because different charities can have far different amounts of overhead.)
