Thank you Jersey!
I am in the BLC # 9 and will see what challenges they have - I have been thinking that perhaps I can bring what I find here to BTN since the BLC # 9 team is so small and filled up so quickly! Won't know until they start on Monday! Maybe we will be tackling the Strength Training together!! Central Time Zone

We love you Linda, oh yes we do
We don't love anyone as much as you When you're not near us, we're blue Oh Linda, we love you!!! ![]() I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say that I love having you as a leader. Your leadership ability more than makes up for some things that maybe you don't do. I am just like you. I can do the diet and cardio thing. Before I started SP about 13 months ago, I ate pretty much whatever I wanted. It wasn't so difficult getting that in check. I had a real hard time starting up with cardio, but I also eventually was able to incorporate a lot of walking into my daily routine, and I am now moving on to other cardio activities. But the strength training remains elusive. I think I will get there, but it has been almost a year since I told myself I would do this, and I still have a hard time with it.

I would never have left By The Numbers and I do feel the love!
Just a little insecurity coming out. It happens now and then. I think it is wonderful for those wanting to do the strength training and my day for it will come. It just isn't now. My now time is for cardio and losing, but that is just me. This really is an awesome team and I am proud to be a member of it. And so many of you are really doing the Boot Camp Challenge! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Central Time Zone

Of course, you're still welcome! You're doing an amazing job in this team.
I'm glad you decided to stay, and I hope you can organize your own challenges if you want to! Valerie

i agree with everyone else- we don't want you to step down as a team leader. i think as teams get bigger you need multiple leaders to focus on different things- one person can't do it all! and we all appreciate what you do for us!

Linda, we need you on the team in any way you see fit. You inspire us all.

Well, I am late in finding this thread but I am so glad that no one else was. I for one am thrilled that you are staying with us! You have been a fantastic addition to our team and I would hate to lose you. I feel horrible that my challenges have made you feel this way. I knew you didn't do strength training and I never thought it would be a problem.
My way of thinking is that the team goals are set up to focus on knowing our numbers and keeping them in check. It's a place to record your BMI, Calorie Deficit, water intake, and calories out (exercise). From things I have read your best way to increase your calories out is building muscle so that is why the challenges focus on strength training - to help us build muscle. I will admit though the fact that it doesn't count on our calories burned is a little annoying:) But I am starting to put it in as circuit training now so it's helping. I guess the biggest thing is I thought the team goals were cover the number tracking for us - but I will try to incorporate it in our challenges as well. The most important thing to me is we do this and do it together! I hope you ALL know that if there is ANYTHING you would like to see different in the challenges PLEASE let me know. I am always open to ideas and as long as it sticks with the SP way - it will be added! I love you all and I would hate to see any of you leave. ![]() ~ Meg

It has been a rough week, monday and tuesday anyway, and I really appreciate the support I receive here.
I am thrilled that I am still welcome as a leader even without the extra exercises. We are all going to make this happen! 2009 is our year to be losers! Central Time Zone

I want to add my opinion. Since Linda is the one who encouraged me to join this team, I want her to continue as a leader, cheerleader, or whatever.

I'm so glad you decided to stay on as co-leader! You're really a natural. This team isn't just about strength challenges, though that's an option to help those of us who tend to be sedentary most of the day. You make a really important contribution.

Thank you!
No, I hadn't made up my mind but this has been weighing on me. So I decided to just put it up to a vote. I am comfortable with what I am able to do for the team and I enjoy it. I make a good cheerleader! And I am doing well on my program so I don't want to change it. Thank you all for telling me. I don't feel overwhelmed - yet - but I will let Meg know when I do. And I can do this month's challenge!!!! Yahoo!! Linda Central Time Zone

I agree with everyone else here. I love you being a co-leader and look forward to your support.
I know I need it more then ever because my hypothyroidism poked it's ugly head up and lately I can't make it out of the house till after 11 AM. Sad isn't it. So, keep inspiring. BTW I'm not doing ANY exercises right now, I'm trying to focus on my eating habits and get them under control again. ![]() You can't out-exercise a bad diet.

Linda you are SO Incredibly inspiring! Whether or not you do strength training will not change that!
I will be incredibly disappointed if you step down as a leader. You are a natural leader. In fact, this is a great example of everyone needing to do what is best for them. We all need to recognize what is appropriate for us at this point in our lives and follow that. There is certainly room for more than one focus. I agree with Gail (aka - BLACKHEART) that if you are feeling overwhelmed, look for a 3rd leader to take some of the responsibility. Linda, I LOVE having you as leader on this team. I don't care of you don't participate in the challenges. Each person has to do what's best for them in order to lose the weight and ST just happens to be something not working for you. Personally, I'd LOVE to see you remain as leader. You can still cheer us on and offer encouragement and a kick in the you know what if we falter. Cuz come on, folks, we all need a good kick to keep us going. A friendly kick of course.
To me a good leader is someone who posts regularly, helps to keep the team going, encourages their members, offers support, greets new members, reads blogs (when there is time) and you have accomplished all of these things. My vote is stay as leader. Meg can run the challenges and you can fill in on the other duties. So far, I think you two have done a wonderful job with the team. And then if either of you get to a point where you feel overwhelmed, just bring on another leader and split some of those duties. Gail

I'm maybe a bit new to the team, but as you asked for opinions, here is mine.
I don't see the problem with having 2 leaders focusing on 2 different ways to achieve our weight loss: there is nothing hycrocrite not to be an active part of the physical challenges. Anyway, it's really up to you. Even if it seems that your last paragraph sounds like you've already made up your mind. Edited by: _VALEO_ at: 1/7/2009 (12:42) Valerie

linda, i really LIKE having you here. you do encourage me. i'm not doing the challenges either, but personally i figure this group is more than the challenges. we've got the buddy teams, and i really value the knowledge sharing and community going on here as well.

When I asked to be co-leader of this wonderful team the focus was on weight-loss "By The Numbers" and that fit me to a T.
Now the emphasis is on Strength Training Challenges and it is not what I am doing. When I approached Meg it was with, "I can welcome new members and I can read blogs," but I never agreed to doing so many challenges because that is not where I am at. I intend to stay with this team, I like it and I love the members! But I feel like a hypocrite as a leader since I am not going to be an active part of the physical challenges. I will not focus on strength training until after I have met my goal weight. I have joined the BLC # 9 because the member that invited me told me that she isn't doing the exercises either, so I won't be holding back my teammates. And it is 12 weeks long and I need to lose another 12 pounds, sounds like destiny! So I really want to know how you feel about me remaining a leader. I am ready to step down and just be a member again and will still welcome people and read blogs. Nothing would change other than I would not be leading people in an area that I am not currently pursuing. I don't really know if I will ever pursue the strength training part of it. I only know I am going to lose this weight. I would have trouble following a leader that I felt wasn't practicing all that is preached so this is the reason for my question. Central Time Zone
