The best thing to do according to my dietitian is to I have 1/2 of my plate fruits and vegetables less on the fruit and more on the veggies, 1/4 of the plate lean protein and the other 1/4 of the plate whole grains.

What have you done today to make yourself proud?

welcome! I do the exchange diet for my meals-I'm allowed 13 servings of carbs a day-at 15g a serving-which equals like 196 grams total for the day I believe. And I agree-you need to either contact your doctor or a diabetic educator and get a new meal plan!!

SnowAngle I have diabetes and it is controlled by exercise and diet. But it didn't start out that way. I started out on ameryl 20 mg once a day. Later I lost weight and my blood sugars stayed extremely low. For breakfast I am allowed 45-58 carbs, lunch 35-45, dinner 45-50. But I am speaking as a diabetic controlled without medication. You really need to get contact with your doctor and tell him that you need him to give a meal plan that you've misplaced the one you had. If he is about business he will understand and give you a replacement. If not call your local hospital and ask to speak to a diatician (spelling awful)or arrange to meet with a diatician. Take control of your diabetes before it controls you. best of luck to you.

Welcome Angel, I have been a biabetic for over 20 years and have had a hard time controling my BS, because of that I have complications the worst being neuropathy in my feet and legs where I have absolutely no feeling and now it is starting in my right hand. I have pretty good control now that I am on 2 insulins a day. Lantus, a 24 hour time release insulin and novolog that I take at every meal and at bedtime. I have lost over 100 pounds in the last year and a half and have 60-70 pounds to go

What you have to do is portion control and eat healthy food. I have 1/2 of my plate is fruits and vegetables, 1/4 is 3ounces of lean protein and 1/4 is whole grain. Also I have to say that my plate is a saucer not a dinner plate. I try to eat 1000-1200 calories a day. I hope this helps you. Good luck . Write again and let me know how you are doing.

God bless
Sharon

HELLO:

I HAVE BEEN TYPE 2 DIABETIC FOR OVER 30 YEARS. NOT IN GOOD CONTROL AT THE PRESENT TIME. I KNOW I AM NOT EATING THE AMOUNT OF CALORIES I NEED DAILY--HAVE TROUBLE GETTING TO 1000 A DAY.

I HAVE LOST CONTACT WITH THE "DIABETIC FOOD PLAN". ANYONE CARE TO SHARE WHAT YOU ARE EATING & DOING TO KEEP YOUR SUGARS UNDER CONTROL?

ANY INPUT WOULD BE GLADLY APPRECIATED.

"ANGEL"
