If you're not suffering from other symptoms (fatigue, extreme thirst, sudden weight loss, frequent urination, bluriness, etc.) then it's probably not that you're diabetic, but hypoglycemic-- which basically means that when you eat sweets it causes your blood sugars to spike a bit and then drop really low. This is something that still needs to be diagnosed by a doctor, though, and I believe can be a consequence of weight, but am not sure.

I wish you luck!

Welcome Queen, I remember the peanut log days, and I'm drooling mmmmmmmmm, but those days are over for me. Only a finger stick could tell you that. You need to see the doctor. Sorry. Here are is list of symptons: the need to urinate often, dry skin, extreme thirst, hungry, blurry vision, drowsy, slow-healing wounds. See a doctor to make sure anyway.

Hi!

I'm new to sparkpeople. I'm turning 21 in January. I'm also a new vegetarian/vegan(as much as possible)!

Except....

Yesterday, "St. Nick" (my mom has three girls. 20, 16, and 6, so we get to do all those things again!) left me a pecan log. For those unfamiliar with these, they are a huge lump of sugar covered with nuts...which I'm pretty sure are covered in sugar too. lol

Well, last night I was getting up from a sitting position and I almost fell over! I was so dizzy and felt lopsided! I went to bed and this morning I didn't get up till late! I'm thinking it was because of the sugar, because I haven't eaten sweets in over a month! Scary.....

I don't know if I am diabetic or not...I haven't been to a doctor. But I'm significantly overweight and have diabetes on both sides of the family.

I want to be healthy.

Nikki
