Canadian bacon. It is low in carbs, calories and a whole host of other things. Just be careful - has a good bit of salt.

I don't think I reported it to you correctly. Basically for breakfast (2-3 carbs = 30-45 grams range, I think), snack is: 0-1 carb = 15 grams, lunch is: 2-3 carbs = 30-45 grams range, another carb snack 0-1= 0-15 grams, dinner: 2-3 carbs 30-45 grams) and that's it. Lean Meats I can have 6-7 ozs a day (49 grams) , and 3 fats (ouch...not much fats. Does that sound right? If I would add up the grams, would that mean I get: up to 120 - 165 grams a day of carbs, right? (sounds like a lot) That's directly from the diabetes nurse.

I'm having problems with my head, I can tell I don't have enough brain power to operate. I used to have this a long time ago and it's not fun. Hard time thinking. I know I'm not getting enough of something.
I will just have to try and find what is a good balance for me I'm going to try and figure out what that would mean in calories also by her diabetes mgmt. plan. Also going to use sparkpeople nutrition site. Can you guys recommend a good meat/protein I could use in a.m. for a snack to counteract eating just carbs. I use to eat nuts but have a hard time eating only a few.
Thanks for listening. I'm going to keep on keeping on........run the race to the finish line...are my plans.

Good to hear from you!! It sounds like you are really on the right track by writing down every thing you eat! It's amazing to me how much a "little bite of this" or "a little bite of that" can add up!!

I gotta tell you I don't think I should look at it. I'll take your thoughts on it ...way too much over what is good for me.
Just wanted to update you on my few days of tracking food. Today I did blow it but otherwise good. I was doing great at tracking but I realized I'm not eating enough...I can tell my brain is only 1/2 in working order. Today I did not eat enough and by the time I got to the store: that snicker I saw on tv last night just jumped in my cart even though I had just prayed ...help me Lord. I was doing so good but I will not give up just because I overdid it today. I'm going right back tracking but I know it will take a while to get it down and figure out what is best for me. The diabetic nurse says I can have 9 carbs a day @ 30-45 gram count , 2 @ 0-15 gram count, 3 fats, 6-7 oz oz of meat/protein. I think that's what she said.
(3 days on meds so far) My blood sugar was 139 a.m. today. Lowest it's been in ages in the a.m.
Made me happy. I definitely will skip this dessert.
For supper I really ate too much (corn on the cob and catfish)...was really good though.

Has anyone else looked at the Recipe of the Day for today? Double Caramel Turtle Cake? I don't know how anyone else may feel, but I think this cake is a bit too much for those of us trying to lose weight. At 333 calories a slice and 62 grams of carbs - this is more than my carb allowance for ONE meal!! I did submit an inappropriate report, but wanted to really know what other people think.
