I wish I could keep a normal schedule. I've always had issues with that. The only way I can really function in the morning is if I stay up all night. When I was working it was horrible for me every morning when I was trying to wake up. Which sucks considering that's when everyone else is up doing things, like for doctor appointments, dealing with insurance, dealing with lawyers, etc.

Just last night I was tired but was trying to get a few things done, so I didn't fall asleep until around 6 am. Tried to wake up at 2 to do some things (I HAD to pick up meds), but when my alarm went off at 4 I realized I absolutely had to jump up and get to the pharmacy (before rush hour). I didn't put on braces, just threw on clothes, grabbed my walker, and got there. Now I'm back home and trying to stop myself from falling back asleep. I shouldn't have pushed myself, especially not without braces, but I just had to get it done and over.

I usually do best getting things done at home between late morning and early afternoon; that's the time when my first pain pill of the day is working, but before I hit my late afternoon slump. I also try not to do too many strenuous activities in one day. I take my time getting stuff done as much as possible.

Talking to my therapist yesterday she is concerned about my trying to do too much so she wants me to stop over planning my day. I need to be mindful of what my normal body clock times are and not set things during the times my body wants to rest. Yes, I too have the just one more page mentality! emoticon

I've had insomnia for most of my life. It was interesting for me to find out that many people with EDS have insomnia because of the symptoms. Now I've learned I just have to take interesting combinations of meds to be able to sleep.

I have never sleep "good" or "normal" The only time I nap is when I am sick, but I did find a hyponis (for weight loss) on youtube and I use it a couple times a week. I feel very relaxed

I can't take naps either, or I don't sleep at night. I have a bad habit of staying up too late reading though. It doesn't matter how late I stay up, once I wake up in the morning, usually by 7am, I just cannot relax and fall back asleep again. I need to remind myself that whatever I am reading will be there the next day.

If you have the ability to take a nap, then it's (usually) okay to take a small catnap. If you sleep too long it might mess up your sleep overnight, but sometimes your body just needs a little time to slow down and rest. As we were told as kids - even if you don't fall asleep just laying quietly can be helpful to us.

I am terrible about stopping and resting during the day, or even stopping and going to sleep at night. When I was working I was a workaholic. Far too often I put something ahead of myself. That's why I had to finally put my foot down and say my health was more important than my work, no matter who tried to tell me otherwise. I definitely need to figure out how to listen to my body better! And part of that is not letting anyone else who is ignorant or mis-informed dictate what I should or should not or can or can not do.

I AM TAKING TO HEART THE PART ABOUT GETTING ENOUGH REST. I DON'T SLEEP WELL SO I NOW GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION TO TAKE A SMALL NAP IF I NEED IT.

I still have times when I try to do too much in a day; sometimes when I am having one of my good days, it's easy to get caught up in the feeling of accomplishing things and forgetting how it's going to make me feel the next day.

Both G-PACT and an EDS awareness group on fb shared that. I thought it was pretty good. I was half asleep when I was reading it, so I don't remember much of it, but I know I have my own 'do not do' list... which I frequently ignore. Oops? haha
