I can't manage carbonation at all. That's been true since before I got the GP dx. Occasionally my husband will give me a swallow of a soda he's drinking (truly - not several ounces), and it creates hiccups immediately. Tasty, but worth it? questionable.

Thanks for sharing. I've found that drinking fruit juice (especially if not 100% juice) and soda both cause my GERD to get much worse. The carbonation also causes gas buildup, which adds to the severity of GP symptoms. It's good to remember that soda can give us calories from simple carbs but those calories do not last long.

Everyone, please remember that having a difficult medical condition means working with your doctor and medical team closely and more often to ensure you're sticking to the best treatment you can get.

Interesting article about soda and gastroparesis.

I know my acid reflux is better not drinking soda, though sometimes for nausea I will drink some flat ginger ale, but never more than 6-8 oz. in a day.
