I went to the urologist this afternoon. I told him that I couldn't continue the way I was going anymore. He said that he flushed out the cyst and put a stent in that he wanted to remove today which should relieve all of my pain. The stent goes from the kidney to the bladder. It is removed with no anesthesia or pain meds. Unfortunately he couldn't remove it today because I take 2 blood thinner shots a day. The earliest it can be removed is next Wednesday. I've decided to have the stent removed and then wait no more than 2 more weeks to wait for the muscle and nerve tissues to settle down. If I am not completely better by then (the 22nd of Sept.) I am changing urologists. This has gone on long enough and he doesn't really seem all that eager to find out what is the source of the problem. My DH went with me today to validate everything I said to the doctor. It didn't seem to make that much difference. Let's just pray that the next 3 weeks sees a great improvement because I really don't want to start all over again with a new doctor. Thanks again for all of your prayers and concerns.

Lynda,

Maybe it'd be a good idea to take it easy until you meet with the urologist on Wednesday? Passing out from pain! Thank goodness there were others who could help. I'm so thankful that you weren't behind the wheel when that happened. Please take good care of yourself. Rest, eat right, and try to get in some light exercise at home. I'm concerned about you!

Hugs,
Lucky

I'm still feeling very puny. I'm just pushing myself even when I don't want to do anything. This morning I went to the gym to walk the track and passed out from pain. They wanted to call an ambulance and take me to the hospital but I refused it. I got a ride home and have rested for the rest of the day. I push because I'm afraid not to. I know I don't have cancer, but something is wrong -- I just don't know what. I have tremendous pain, constant urination, and absolutely no energy. I've been this way for months now. I want some answers and I want to start feeling good again. Enough pity party.

I hope and pray that you all have a great evening.
Lynda

What a relief to learn that it's not cancer! I'm going to pray that you don't have to lose the kidney!

Woo hoo! The good news is great!

I went to the oncologist yesterday morning and got wonderful news about my biopsy. The tumor is BENIGN! Apparently it is a large cyst that hemmoraged and the blood coagulated inside the cyst instead of draining out. This is what is causing all of the pain. All 4 CT scans came up with the same diagnosis -- transitional cell carcinoma. WRONG. The gold standard is still the biopsy. When I go to the urologist next Wednesday I will find out if I lose the kidney or not. Thank you all for all of your prayers and for all of your support.

Love you all bunches,
Lynda

We will be publishing one recipe from The Gastroparesis Gourmet on each day of Awareness Week. Today's recipe is from the Main Dishes category.

BAKED COD AND VEGGIES
4 – 4 oz. boneless skinless cod fillets
1 cup mushrooms, chopped
1 cup zucchini, peeled and chopped
1 ½ cup low fat chicken broth
Salt and pepper
2 baby carrots, peeled and chopped

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place the defrosted cod in a medium size square glass baking pan. In a medium sized non-stick skillet, heat several tablespoons of broth until sizzling. Add the sliced mushrooms, zucchini and carrots and sauté until very soft. When cooked, gently place the vegetables over the fish and add the rest of the chicken broth. Bake the fish and vegetables uncovered for approximately 12-20 minutes. The cooking broth can serve as a light sauce for the fish. Add salt and pepper if you wish but be sure to taste as the fish and broth are both salty. If you want to leave out one of the veggies, do so, just adjusting the amount of liquid. Also, if easier for you to tolerate, remove the fish and puree the vegetables, adding any extra brother if needed, then serve the fish. Makes 4 servings.

I had to grow up to the age of 64 to get a disease usually associated with children -- pink eye. It came on suddenly at 10 am yesterday with a bang. It had two blessings. First, it waited until Monday to hit instead of hitting on Sunday in the middle of the renewal. Secondly, I'm quaranteened for 48 hours which means no driving which means that I can take my pain medicine on a regular basis and get ahead of the pain for a change. Being a kid has advantages afterall.

I hope you all have a great day.

Thanks for all the prayers and the support for my big day yesterday. It was a wonderful day except for the pain, which actually caused me to pass out at one point, but I got through the day without too much disruption. I have posted 4 pictures on my Spark Page. They are not the best. When I get the good pictures I will I will post the good ones.

I'm getting reading to go to the gym. My DH and best friend (who is also my walking buddy) don't think I should walk because of the pain. I think that a slow steady walk might actually do me some good. If it gets to be too much I can always sit on the bench and take prayer requests from her as she walks laps around the track. I just know I can't sit home all the time.

Thanks again for all the prayers and support. I love you all bunches.

Hi team! It's almost 7:30 and I'm bushed and in a lot of pain. This morning I went to a district wide women's mission meeting. Then my DH and I went out to lunch and ran a bunch of errands. After that it was time to put the final touches on the clothes for tomorrow.
The pain has not abated since Tuesday. You would think it would have by now. Please pray that when I get up tomorrow morning it is miraculously gone. Otherwise it will spoil my special day for me. It won't for anyone else because I'll pretend I'm just fine, but it will for me. Since I'm doing all of the driving tomorrow, I can't even take anything for the pain until tomorrow night. Please pray! Sometimes I wonder what I have done to be punished in this way. I know that this is totally wrong thinking, but that's still how I think sometimes and this is one of those times. Enough of the pity party. Time to go do my blood thinner shot. I may not be able to write tomorrow, but if I don't, please remember that I love you all bunches.

Right now I can't keep my eyes open because of yesterday. I had a ton of versed before my test, general anesthia for the test, 4mg of morphine 3 times after the test and then two doses of endocet since then. Needless to say I am a little groggy right now. All I know at this point is that I have a lot of blood in my urine; I'm in tremendous pain in both the kidney and bladder; he put a stint in my kidney; and I will get the biopsy results in two weeks. It has taken me almost 5 minutes to write this message so I'm going to sign off for now. Thanks for all of you prayers.

Hi Lynda,

I got a good chuckle out of your story about Barney! Would love to see some pictures of him.

I'll be praying that your cold clears up quickly and that on Tuesday the doc finally find out how to make you well again.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I have my "flexible ureteroscopy" on Tuesday where they will actually go up through the plumbing to look at the tumor in the kidney. In order to do this I must have general anesthesia. I woke up with a cold this morning. They won't give me general anethesia with a cold. Please pray a two-fold prayer -- 1. that the cold will go away as quickly as it came, and 2. that the test will finally give the doctors the answers they need so that they can begin treatment. Thanks in advance for your prayers.

I did something really fun this morning after walking 2 miles on the treadmill at the gym. I went to a friend's house. She and her husband have a mini-farm with a few animals such as goats, chickens, a rooster, a pig, and three donkeys. The papa donkey is Clarence. I'm secretary of the Clarence fan club. Thelma Lou is Clarence's "wife" and the mother of their new colt, Barney. I'm Barney's "godmother." When Barney and I met this morning it was love at first sight. He followed me all over the pasture. He would try to nibble on my socks and shoe laces. The romance ended when he took a healthy chomp to my rear end. That earned Barney a smack to his nose. I guess that meant that I smelled good to Barney. But is that really a good thing -- smelling good to a baby donkey?! It was fun though. I left my friends' with dirty shoes, a bag of vine ripened tomatoes for my DH, a dozen brown eggs freshly laid this morning, and a bruised rear end. I also left with some great pictures and a smile in my heart.

I hope that your day has been as great and as full of blessings as mine has been.

I've been up since 2:30. My DH's sugars were bottoming out so I got up to get him something to eat which completely woke me up for the day. He's back snoring under the covers. I wish I were built that way. Oh well, I'm just not made that way. This gives me extra time to say hi to my Spark Friends.
I hope that you have an extra blessed day.

I feel pretty good today! I walked 2 miles in 32.3 minutes on the treadmill this morning (not bad for a turtle).

Then my DH and I did a little shopping and went to a place called Pickles Gap, AR. For real! We had fun walking through the quaint shops of period items. Then we went to lunch. All in all a good day!

WOW! Thanks for the info, Lucky. A whole cookbook just for us. Who would have thought that we would rate that?!

I heard from the urologist's office this morning. I have an infection in my right kidney. I'm on Cipro for 2 weeks. Hopefully this will do the trick. Thanks for the prayers.

Lynda,

Through all you've been through and are still experiencing, you manage to have a great sense of humor. I know if I had given every one of my doctors (and a few of their nurses) a piece of my mind, I'd be on back order.

God Bless You and more hugs and prayers!
Lucky

I'd really like to give the doctor a piece of my mind but that wouldn't leave much for me. Actually, I guess no news is good news.

Hi Lynda,

I'm glad you're discharged from Home Health Care, and that you got the CT scan and blood cultures done. Now just to get those results!! I know I'd be on pins and needles also!

I'm sending more prayers and hoping your pain goes away, along with the kidney problems!

Many hugs,
Lucky

I just found out that my urologist is out of town until Thursday morning of next week, so I won't find out what the results of my CT and blood cultures from Monday and Tuesday of this week are until then. I'm a little frustrated to say the least. In the meantime I have felt very puny and in considerable pain since last Saturday. Oh well, I guess I am supposed to practice patience.

I have been discharged from home health as of this afternoon! I know that it is purely psychological, but that makes me feel a little bit healthier!

I hope that you all have a great evening tonight!

Hi team! While I hurry up and wait, I have had a little trouble sleeping. I've been up since 12:30 am. I did go to the gym at 6:30 and walked 1 1/2 miles and have practiced the piano for 2 hours, but other than that I haven't done much today.

In between doctor appointments and the CT scan yesterday I went shopping and bought my dress for our anniversary. It is a white jacket dress that is ankle length. My best friend thinks it is beautiful. I just pray that this heat wave is over by then or I will pass out from the heat (as will the rest of the party). I also got my DH his anniversary present -- a new study Bible engraved with SGM Vincent *****, Ret. I think he will really like it.

Well, I think I'm going to get a little power nap. I'll write to you all later.

Lynda

Hi team. I hope everyone is well this morning!

I finally called the urologist back at 3:00 yesterday. After a bit of a run around, I finally got his nurse, who communicated with the doctor. He sent me immediately to the hospital for 2 blood cultures and a CBC. This afternoon I have a CT scan of the right kidney. I won't get any results from any of the tests before Thursday. So it's a game of hurry up and wait. I am feeling a bit better this morning, though. Thanks for the prayers and support.

Lynda

Lynda,

I'm so sorry to hear you're having more kidney problems! I hope you can get in to see the urologist soon and they can do something to help you quickly.

Sending many hugs and more prayers!
Lucky

103 already but no rain to speak of for a couple of weeks.

I've been sick since Saturday afternoon with kidney pain and high fever. The scarey part is that it is my good kidney. I have a call into the urologist. Please pray.
