Lynda,

I'm happy to hear that your husband is doing a bit better, but I was so sad to read that you had a heart attack! I hope you'll be feeling strong enough soon so you can have the surgery you need. Bless your heart! You've really had a rough time.

I will continue to pray for both you and your husband. Hopefully, with the Lord's help, things will turn around in the right direction for both of you - and soon!

Hugs,
Lucky

Lucky, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I will pray for you during this difficult time.

I'm sorry I haven't posted, but maybe you'll understand after you read this.

My DH is doing much better. Praise God! He is down to 2 codeine a day from 12. Starting tomorrow it will be 1. His mood is much more stable. He still has some bad moments but they are not as frequent.

His new problem is high blood sugars -- anywhere from 225 to 350. At first he fought taking his insulin, but now he has accepted that he needs it and has even accepted the fact that he is a diabetic. He is allowing me to make an appointment with an endochrinologist tomorrow.

Now, onto me. I had a nuclear stress test on Friday, April 16th. On Sunday the 18th I had severe bi-lateral pain in my chest and jaws while I was in the shower. It actually knocked me to my knees. After it subsided, I got up, finished my shower and went to church. Around 4:30 pm it happened again, only it was worse. I had my DH call an ambulance. The hospital admitted me. On Monday the 19th I found out that the stress test showed that I had had a previous mild heart attack causing muscle damage. The cardiologist performed a cardiac cath. My vessels are all clear so nothing invasive needs to be done. All I need to do is get some rest. Ha Ha!

On Tuesday I saw the surgeon about the bowel obstruction. I DO need to have surgery but he feels that I need to be a little stronger first. He thinks that my current liquid diet is basically starving me and has put me on a super protein diet for 6 weeks. Then we'll do the surgery. I've also been put on Reglan for the gastroparesis. Ain't life grand?!

All in all it could be a whole lot worse.

That's all for now.

Hugs,
Lynda

Thank you Judy.

I really appreciate everything that you and others have done - prayers and positive thoughts, and kind words definitely helped. During his last two weeks, I would re-read everything that was sent in support and it would help me and even today, knowing that I had Spark friends to support makes me feel a little bit better.

I guess because this was so stressful - I felt so helpless because his pain was so awful - my GP was pretty much out of control. My GI doc has suggested grief counseling so I can get back to trying to eat something other than baby food. So I'll be trying that this week. I am drinking protein drinks and Gatorade so that's better than nothing.

Sorry for rambling. I haven't been sleeping much.

Thanks again,
Hugs,
Lucky

Everyone,

Thank you for your encouraging words, your support, the positive thoughts and prayers you sent to me and my father during his six-month struggle with pancreatic cancer. He passed yesterday afternoon at home.

I don't know how I could have done this without all of your help!

Thanks,
Lucky

Lynda,
You and your Dear Husband are definitely in my prayers!

Is there a chance you can get a nurse to come in and help? Has the doctor put your DH on anti-anxiety or anti-depressants? Is there a way he (or maybe you can go with him for support and to try to understand how you can help him?) can see a therapist on a regular basis? This is a lot for both of you to deal with and any help that you both can get would be worth trying.

Sending hugs, positive thoughts and prayers,
Lucky

Please pray for both my DH and me. I went into the hospital on Friday, March 26th with a bowel obstruction and was discharged a week later, on Thursday night, only to find my DH in bad shape. He had a complete mental breakdown on Good Friday, April 3rd and was hospitalized for a week. He is home now, but still not right. I am to be his caregiver, a job for which I am woefully unprepared. I can be a physical caregiver, but not a psychiatric caregiver. I am still unable to eat anything but clear liquids without severe pain and/or vomiting. The doctors are debating surgery. Please pray that I will be an adequte caregiver for my DH until he has stabilized and that I won't need surgery. I'll find out for sure on the 20th. I know that God is in charge. 1 Peter 5:7 says "Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you." I am trying to do this. It is so hard to do this when your DH sits there and sobs in front of you and you don't know how to help him. Thanks in advance for your prayers.

Lynda,

Sorry to hear about your bowel obstruction. I hope you don't have to go through surgery! I'll be praying for you.

Thanks for your prayers and concern. The cancer continues to spread through his stomach and lungs, but hasn't made it as far as his liver and kidneys. He's in as good of spirits as can be expected.

Hope you have a blessed Easter and that your health gets better!
Sending prayers and hugs,
Lucky

Sorry that I haven't been posting lately. I've just spent the past 8 days in the hospital with a bowel obstruction. I got home last night. I still have quite a bit of pain that if it is unresolved in 2 weeks will require surgery.

Lucky, I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'll be praying for you.

Check out our new team goals! We have three new team goals that we all can work toward:

1. Drinking 8 cups of water a day (not too hard),
2. Get 8 hours of sleep a night (gotta have sleep!),
3. Earn 250 Spark Points each month (not hard either!).

Let's work toward a few goals together! It can be fun and give us a feeling of team work or togetherness!
