Welcome to my world!! IT SUX!! I too have had to give up caffeine and i am HATING it. It bothers me even when i am not stressed. My morning cup of joe was Chick fil a tea and now, i even think about it and it does me completely in... I MISS IT DEARLY.. I have learned to adapt myself to the decaf and really it is all a mind set, no matter what people think about caffeine.
I am sorry that you are having those feelings, i know how much that pain hurts. That was sort of the way i felt, it felt like acid ON FIRE!! when it was going down.

Try decaf and see how it goes, i will keep my fingers crossed and hope the decaf works, it is a booger giving up something you love so much!!

I'm noticing that caffeine is starting to bother me, more so when I'm stressed. It feels like pure acid! I hate to give up coffee, I've been drinking it since I was 4. Grand Dad used to work at the Ford plant up in Virginia, and had to get up around 4 AM. I'd smell the coffee and wake up, he'd give me 3/4 whole milk and 1/4 coffee, plus some sugar, and then I'd go back to bed and sleep for another 3-4 hours. Years later, here I am again drinking my coffee diluted again with milk and Splenda. I have a feeling that coffee is going to be the next "no-no."

Life's an adventure ... take it one step at a time and don't underestimate yourself! You're capable of more than you think you are! How do I know this? You're still here aren't you? That means you haven't given up!

When I eat out with friends I order white toast with applesauce (I use that as a jelly) and an order of bacon/coffee.

I went to a Bed and Breakfast where they served creamed chipped beef on toast. That went down well. If I can remember correctly...they changed the way chickens are fed and yes the egg has less hormones etc. added.
Beef, pork was done differently years ago too.
I had duck meat that was awsome not much just a pinch or 2. yikes now I am hungry.

U can eat potatoes? Now I am upset. I can't they are too heavy, it stays in my throat like fresh bread.
I've been on liquid meal replacements and last week I did not use them..no stomach aches nor stomach spasms. I have the night sweats though 2-3 times a night for the past couple of days.
Not complaining though...I get to see the sunrise it is beautiful.
Can't help on stress except take a shower and cry it out..top off with cold shower water
makes you want to-S r c e a m-Then dance until you are dry.

Well, this morning DH takes to my this cute little place where I've been known to be a really piggy and eat half a pancake! lol But this morning he orders eggs over easy and I could hardly eat. They smelled different than when I used to eat them years ago. The owners were so nice! They boiled some baby potatoes, sprinkled on just a few dried herbs and I managed to eat a few bites.

Potatoes, sweet, baking, baby reds -- have been my loyal friends for years now. My acid seems to get out of control when I'm stressed and it takes starches to help, plus the Tigan Rx, and the OTC Prilosec 2x daily.

Ginger snaps have been known to help, but I have to nibble on them.

I was told to have something on my stomach if I would be in a Smelly situation. Just the thought of that makes me nauseous.
Another one is to eat ginger candy...that burns.
I even was told to have crackers on hand. Everyone has suggestions for pregnant women, but I'm not pregnant.
So I guess it's trail and error. LOL

I too volunteer and LOVE IT!! Sometimes, even those can be stressful situations when things don't go as planned, but 98% of the time, i am at my best when i am volunteering. I feel good and my belly feels good.. lol lol. My nausea comes from certain smells as well, anything that is frying, I gag.. I used to be able to eat EVERYTHING fried.. i know that's not good, but you know what i mean, and now just smelling it is HORRIBLE FOR ME!! I have found that only strong nausea meds work for me. I wish i could use over the counter, but can't. My biggest issue i guess as far as symptoms is the nausea. Sometimes i wish i was Dorothy and could click my heels and make it all go away..
HUGS!!!

STRESS IS A MESS. I don't work, so thank you for that. I volunteer and working with people is stress.
I say 5-10 hours per week is enough for me; but, they want me to come in almost every day. The benefit of volunteering is to assist from the heart.
Back to wanting without giving is in play here, but the seniors have stories and humor this gets me through the week. Management however...hmm
My nausea kicks in from the smell of different foods
cooking.
Walmart brand for nausea helps.

Yep, had a few of those too. At my dream job, my boss' boss was the biggest jerk I have ever had the displeasure to work with. He made us all miserable. It got so bad I actually had to leave (me and several others). I was an artist at a research hospital and I adored the other people I worked with. Anyway, I hope you can outlast or at least tolerate your pain-in-the-rear coworker.

We're always here to listen!

Andie,
Thank you so much for your advice, it helps to know that someone else is understnading it all, like you and Lucky..I too keep candy on handy, and that seemed to work, but then i would want piece after piece, kinda crazy.
Yeah the stress thing, i am taking one step at a time.. Some giant, some baby.. I too have tried to remember "be kind, you never know what someone is facing." Yet i do have that 1 that is taking up space. She is my issue. Thanks for being a sound board everyone!! emoticon

Hi Diva540,
Like you nausea is the thing I hate and dread the worst. A while back I noticed that the main ingredient in most OTC anti-nausea meds was sugar. Even though the last thing I want to do is put something in my mouth, I try to have something like ginger ale or hard candy. It doesn't take much.

Good luck with your stressful job. I try not to take things personally. Everyone has their own set of issues. When they act like big babies or jerks, I think "Maybe, her granddaughter is sick or maybe she is taking care of her mother with Alzheimer's or maybe she has chronic pain, or her husband treats her badly." Of course she may be a complete waste of space for no reason at all. It just helps me give people a little more leeway if I think that they are dealing with something.
Anyway, I hope you have a good week!
Andie emoticon

We live in Gainesville, Florida. The University of Florida IS the town! It's the county's largest employer, the main reason people come to Gainesville, and usually either the number 1 or number 2 party school in the nation (not exactly something to be proud of).

It's great when the football or basketball teams have a great season, but I have no desire to go back to school or work there, and living in a student neighborhood has its disadvantages, but it's close to DH's job so here is where we're at right now. But thankfully, not forever!

Lucky,
Thanks for the feedback, glad to know I am not the only one that has these symptoms, and crazy days and things that happen. I think the thing that aggravates me the most is the nausea. I HATE MORE THAN ANYTHING being nauseated. I have found that deep breathing gets me through mine before I have to take my medicine.
I recently got promoted as well, and taking a class probably wouldn't be a bad idea. I am in charge of working with ALL WOMEN that are quite a few years older than me. They act resentful and jealous, and man am I feeling it... lol lol...
Funny, being cool headed has been my philosophy... Act like, you had no idea they said anything that offended you, or even that they said anything at all. Most of the time, they try to ask me a question thinking they are going around it in a slick sort of way, and I will as crazy as it sounds, kind of act dumb about the whole situation, and then they are so struck, they drop the whole situation... They jsut test me on a daily basis and I am at a point, where I want to look at them and go.." How old ARE you?" CrAzy how it affects your system.

What college town are you in?
Thanks again for the input, you are an angel!!

Yes, stress TOTALLY aggravates my GP. It took me awhile to pick up on it though. Nausea is terrible, but when I'm really stressed, all of a sudden I can't digest my soft foods, and even Ensure wants to come back up.

My GI is now letting me take my anti-nausea medication (Tigan) four times a day. I think my stomach turns into a vat of acid, which also makes me nauseous. The only thing I can do other than the extra meds, is stick with carbs that I know I can digest, like soft bread, sometimes saltines can help, and I absolutely have to avoid odors, especially food odors.

I had to take some stress management courses when I got promoted at work a while back, and trying to put things in a better perspective (will this matter 3 days form now? three months? three years?).

I sometimes have to ask myself "Do I have any control over this?" If not, then I have to change how I'm perceiving the situation -- and it's not always easy. But I'm realizing that if I don't have any control over it, I can't change the situation, but I CAN change how it affects me. And that's something I am learning to control. And boy does it feel good when I succeed!

I wish there was a cure for stupid. Sometimes it seems contagious, sometimes even inherited, but it's like an epidemic, even in this college town I live in (and want to escape from so badly).

My best method for dealing with stupid is to try to keep a cool head, and not even let them know it's getting to me. Maybe they're trying to unnerve me, but I'm going to resist it. Maybe they're nervous or alarmed and aren't even aware of the lack of IQ they're showing, so sometimes I cut them break -- hell, most of the time I cut 'em a break. In my job, I have to do that or I'd be majorly pissed every time I had some rich kid with tons of 'tude try to give me a hard time. Even doctors can act downright rude when they come in for certification or recertifying. I can't control how often people have to sit for their exams, how much they have to pay for the exams, but I can control, or die trying, how much I let it affect my good mood and my interactions with other, nicer people.

"Kill 'em with kindness," works most of the times, and for other times, I'm venting on my blog at the end of the day, or to DH. There doesn't seem to be a sure-fire method for dealing with the stress, or for curing stupid, sadly.

Life's an adventure ... take it one step at a time and don't underestimate yourself! You're capable of more than you think you are! How do I know this? You're still here aren't you? That means you haven't given up!

O.K. I work in a hospital, so you would think that in all my years of medicine, someone could CURE STUPID!!!! Well, you are wrong, they will find a cure for xyz disease before we can cure that!!! lol lol.. Anywho.....
I find myself that the more I stress, my GP KICKS into HIGH HIGH GEAR!!! I know that with me stress is a huge factor in my GP acting out. I have tried deep breathing, taking a walk, taking a break for like 5 secs, but in a hosp. that is not an easy thing to do. It just makes me madder when it flares up and I know it is my own fault, for not trying to remain in "control" or calm. Now don't read this wrong, I am not flying of the handle, or having a meltdown, but some of the things you encounter here are like.. Are you serious?? REALLY??? .. Funny thing about it all, I have been doing this for almost 24 years....and NOTHING ever ceases to amaze me.

Sorry, got off track. Do any of you find your GP REALLY BAD when you are stressed, or find that you have one symptom worse than the other? I am finding that I am fighting SEVERE cases of nausea. I guess when stressed my bile in my stomach gets more acidic and makes me more nauseous. In my crazy life, what do you do to try to bring it all under control to some point? Have tried many things and would love any feedback about this...

Have a happy day!! emoticon
