Today, I am winging it again!

Either tuna or chicken salad or chicken parmasan.

What should I choose?

I pretty much eat the same thing Monday through Friday so it's easy to keep track. However the husband likes to cook something on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night so......I have to rely on portion control.

I do both. But we have amassed so much canned and packaged food lately, I told my son we need to make meals and take them with us ALOT more. We shouldn't be eating out AT ALL❗😅

Both. The roommates usually tell me in the middle of the day what they want. Often, if they want ham or pork chops, I fend for myself and they do the cooking. I do not like ham or pork chops.

As I live on a tight budget, I often do pantry challenges. For instance, about a month or two ago, I found a recipe on Sparkrecipes for potato soup. All the recipe calls for are frozen french fries or frozen hash browns, chicken gravy and chicken broth. Simple and affordable.

Another recipe I lean on is Mix n match skillet, which consists of one pasta, one vegetable, one soup and one pasta. Either microwave it or bring to a boil and simmer for 25 minutes.

Just because you are attempting to save money does not mean you are lazy and winging it every day.

So, there are times I guess you can say I am both.

I'm a planner. My breakfasts, lunches, and day time snacks done change much, as I need packable food for the office and fruits or "on-the-go snacks." I plan my meals for the upcoming week on Saturday morning while I make my grocery list. Sometimes I will even track ahead. When I am doing these things, I am most successful at losing. When I allow myself to wing it, I am usually setting myself up for a minor setback. I have found that planning helps me stay on track with weightloss and I save money at the store and throughout the week.

I've gone through phases where I've done it both ways, but I guess as a whole I lean toward "winging it".......

I've learned that I do better if I leave some flexibility in my meal planning. But I really need to track everything carefully, as it would be so easy to go over on calories.

break/lunch are pretty much the same..........
try to plan for dinners most days

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And
maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

Ive done this so long that planning is easy for me. Thurs I make my grocery list (1/2 hr), Fri is shopping (1 hr), Sat morning is batch cooking for the week (3 hrs). All the food, even cottage cheese, goes in or 1-cup containers because opening containers makes food spoil faster. Some food goes in the fridge and the rest in the freezer. I never feel limited to what I eat because of the large variety of food. The kitchen is a mess on Sat morning, but clean the rest of the week. Lunches take 30 seconds to pack and a hot, healthy, tasty dinner is on the table within 15 minutes. I cant imagine cooking every night.

Supper meals are usually planned, and breakfast tends to be the same, but my lunch meal depends on what I'm in the mood for.

I don't plan ahead at all because my "fancies" change. All I do is make sure I have a variety of meats and veges to work around, and then I know that I am mixing it up, and can have what I fancy at the same time.

Snacks are treated the same way - a variety of healthy ones on hand - some loaded with fibre, and some higher in protein - that way I can ensure that I get a balance and find it easy to stay within the nutrient range.

Do you plan out your meals on a weekly or daily bases or do you wing it sometimes? Most times I do plan them the night before, and that includes my snacks. Some days I'll think of something else to have, and have that instead.
Any other thoughts out there?
