hello all - thanks for the responses to my questions - i'm kinda searching for the right winter combination to keep my fitness level steady until spring when i can get back to walking outside.

i just got this mini elliptical - do you think it will work? i just don't have much space to work with right now - so unless the elliptical or treadmill is compact and folds up, i doubt if i have room for it. i've been able to use it for a few minutes at a time, but i get fatigued on it much faster than i do walking or exercising to my dvds.

oh oh oh - i have my eye on the biggest loser ranch too! there was a magazine with an advertisement for it, and it's on my wish list.

well - i'm going to go do my little elliptical machine for a while - i'm trying to build up to some good time on it - keep my heart rate up and burn some fat! have a good night all. DC

Good Evening Everyone,

Today, I completed week 5, day 2 of couch to 5K. The runs are getting longer in duration, I was able to handle it. I finished up with some weight training. I must admit today I had the munchies. I ate a half of bag of cheese and carmel popcorn that my husband brought in. I told my husband to bring fruit in next time. Good thing I stopped before I finished the entire bag.

Sandra, The Fitness Ridge in Utah is the Biggest Loser's Ranch, that's open to the public. It's 45 minutes from Las Vegas, Nevada. I plan to add it to my next trip to Las Vegas in 2011. I want you to know it is your dedication that motivated me to do something everyday. Thank you for setting the example for us to follow. I'm trying to follow your lead. I love your dedication!!!

Priscilla, you're doing GREAT, down 4 pounds, that's a major accomplishment! Nice Work!

Welcome back DeeCeeWis!!! I use the sparkpeople eating plan as a guide. Sometimes I follow it and other times I follow "Fit for Life" by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond. They advocate eating lots of fruit and combining your food properly to bring you permanent weight loss and high energy. And sometimes I eat what I think is healthy as long as it has right amounts of protein, carbs and fat.

Me Oh My!!! I left work this evening and went on the river and ran 5.2 miles in 55 min. I was going. It was such a good run. I know my legs will feel that tomorrow. I think I'm only going to walk my miles in the morning. Right now I'm laying in the bed, about drained. Oh but I loved that run. This running is ADDICTED.

Hello Everyone!
The marathon is sure exciting! Glad to hear everyone's doing well.
Slim, I just love your rewards list: just lovely! I am agreeing with you and rooting for you that you reach each one of them and go for the treasure!
My marathon milestones are as below:

Dec 2nd: Ran 4 miles this morning...so, that makes it 5/26 miles completed before Dec 25th.

I am now using the 'random' function on the treadmill: it is interesting...I may be running 5-5.5 miles an hour at 5% incline one minute and then 8% the next and so on...keeps me engaged!
I took some measurements today...lost an inch and a half on each thigh...I LIKE that. No dent on my upper body. But that too will follow eventually!

Hello everyone, and welcome back DeeCeeWis.

Slim congrats on achieving your goal. I love your reward chart. That camp in Utah sounds awesome. I wish I could go too.

I was up early again this morning. You know what? Lately since I've been committed to exercising in the mornings, I've really been pushing myself out of that bed. It hasn't been easy. Almost every morning when the clock alarms, I lay there for about 1-5 min. I think about how I can exercise in the evenings instead of letting the bed go. But then I think about you guys, the challenges I'm committed to, and what if something blocks me from working out in the evening, I push myself on out of that bed and get started.

This morning I ran for 2.6 miles, 30 min. then used my resistant band and did some back strength training workouts. After that I got on the floor and did some lying bench press and chest flys with 20 pound weights. I also put on ankle weights and did some leg workouts, OUCH, that burned. And also did some ab workouts. I attacked the whole body this morning and I expect to feel the burn.

oh my goodness - i can't believe i've been a member of this team for so long and haven't read or posted any messages! you guys are the resource i've been looking for. it sounds like you all workout daily and eat very healthy.

i have a small 2nd floor apt, so i have small workout stuff - a balance ball, a mini elliptical - a sidestepper actually i got from footsmart - it does raise my heart rate, but nothing like when i walk outside. i'd love to have a real elliptical - can anyone recommend one that's small but effective? i also have a bunch of workout dvds.

when the weather is good i was walking about 4 miles a day - 3 of them power walks - but i've never been a runner cause my knees are bad. but maybe i'll look at the couch to 5k i keep reading about and see if others had knee problems but were able to run.

i'm eating nutrisystem - it sounds like the regular posters are eating real food - nothing like weight watchers food or jenny craig - so just real stuff. i want to do that too - i just need a good guide - do people use the sparkpeople meal plan or somewhere else?

i know it's mainly research, and i'm online all the time - i just need to put it all together, and it seems like this group has done that.

feel free to answer any or all or none of my questions - either way thanks and i'll be checking in more regularly or at least lurking more regularly lol! have a great day! DC

Good morning everyone!

I'm enjoying the marathon. To me it's just the thought of "doing a marathon", but not all in one day. I guess you can say "It's a mind thing".

Anyhow I got up this morning and ran 2.6 miles on the treadmill and I'll go in this evening and put in another one or more miles for the challenge. I've also got a workout to do with one of my clients this evening. I'm so looking forward to that.

Bry, that's ok, just put in a mile extra on the bike, and bike your way to MARATHON TO CHRISTMAS.

Good morning team!! I hope this day finds each of you doing great!!

Zanball~~Welcome to the team!! Congrats on all the progress you've made thus far!! Keep up the fabulous work!!!

Sandra~~I don't do so well walking/running/jogging yet. But I will be hitting my stationary bike every day. Right now it takes me about 35 or 36 minutes to do 12 miles but I'm trying to pick up my speed some so I can get more out of it.

Have a fabulous day everyone!!

I love this new challenge..."Marathon To Christmas". Thank you, Sandra!

Priscilla's Goal: Dec 1-Dec 24, 2010: Run 26 miles. Love it, love it!

Last night I ran 4 miles and 2 miles this morning. Feel wonderful to be back on track with running after the Thanksgiving Break slowness. I am noticing that I am a LOT nicer when I get my runs in...otherwise I feel bummed out! Hmm!

Zanball, welcome to the team!! We are very active on this team, sounds like you will fit right in.

Sandra, count me in the challenge, run, walk or jog 1 mile a day. This fits in with some of my other challenges. I strive to walk 5 miles a day or 10,000 steps, I am tracking it on "Doing it one step at a time". Also, my C25K runs ensure I get the 1 mile in 3 days a week. I will need to do 1 mile on my day off to accomplish this challenge.

Thanks for sharing it with the team.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the team

I've been walking 5 miles (that's just about 10,000 steps for me) pretty much every day since 8/15 & am now 1/2 way to my goal. Yeaaaa!!

I've walked outside until the weather turned chilly, then hubby got me a treadmill for an early xmas gift so I can continue my walking. I got it set up this past Sunday & have put 10 miles on it already - looking forward to another 5 miles tonight. I miss walking through our local parks and forest preserves, but soooooo glad to have an alternative in the treadmill!

Looking forward to chatting with everyone :)

Oh here's a good challenge. I read this on another team thread and thought it would be a good one for us.

"Marathon To Christmas" - Run, walk or jog 1 mile each day until Christmas for a total of 26 miles (I'll add the extra 0.2 miles to make it a full Marathon!). I figured this would be a great way to get some extra exercise in, even if its only 15 mins!

Hello everyone!

I got up this morning at 4:30 and got in 2.5 miles on the treadmill then got on the floor and did some chest press and flys. Then did some tricep dips, skull crushers and some abs.

After work this evening I did a 45 min. workout with one of my clients using the resistance bands, now that was a good workout.

Hello everyone!
Wow...great work everyone.

I had a great time off this past week. Not much work out...5 miles in all in 4 days! Some strength training. Easy on the food.
So, am grateful and will be back to training and working out more this week.

Good evening everyone,
Today was another rest day for me, besides after church and entertaining company, I didn't have time to workout today.

Laurie, Congrats on your 5K today! I read your blog on the 5K you participated in back in October. I think you're on your way to being a GREAT runner!

Everyone enjoy your evening!

Good Morning all,
Yesterday I did a 5K walk/jog on my treadmill, we skipped the 5K Turkey trot we were going to do on Thanksgiving so I did my own. My goal is to jog the whole thing by spring. Eating was not the greatest, I struggle on the weekends.

Hope you all have a wonderful day! emoticon

Good afternoon everyone!

I had a slow start this morning. I got up at about 8:30 had my coffee then got dressed to get out in the cold weather for a good run. I went downtown on the river and ran 5 miles. I just love how I feel after a good run outdoors. Really don't have anything else planned for the day, so I guess I'll be resting.

Tomorrow is a much needed rest day for me and I'm looking forward to it.

Weighted in this morning and I'm down 2 pounds and body fat is down 1%.

Today I finished week 4 of Couch to 5K training program. Only 5 more weeks to go. I need to find a 5K to run after I complete the program. I will probably continue to run inside on the track until early Spring. I'm not a cold weather fan.

Today, I did 2.0 miles on the track and 1.5 miles on the elliptical.

Hi Team!

I just got home. The drive down to Southern Illinois was smooth. I'm proud of myself, I didn't over eat yesterday. This is a first for me. I skipped the sugary deserts and had a sliced banana and cool whip. I didn't get sleepy after my meal and felt really good the next day. I did drink lots of water after dinner.

Sandra, thanks for the tip on the protein powder. I have some rice protein powder that I will start using. Currently, I'm eating a lot of egg whites and it's working.

Oh, my sisters and Mom were at Walmart at 12:01am, they shopped until 3:00am. I stayed in bed, no shopping for me.

I'm glad to see everyone stayed with their workout routine. Today is another rest day for me. I plan to workout tomorrow.

Enjoy your evening!

Slim I would recommend using no more than 2 servings of protein powder a day. I try to reach at least 100 grams of protein a day. I usually drink one protein shake a day.

Happy Thanksgiving Day Everyone!

I got up this morning and got in 2.5 miles on the treadmill then did 20 min. of lower body strength training.

Now I'm finishing up my meal. I ended up cooking roasted turkey breast, whole wheat dressing made with egg substitute, turnip greens, skinny garlic roasted mashed potatoes. My desserts are a sugarfree pecan pie on whole wheat pie crust, and I made a delicious Spice Cake with citrus filling. I got this recipe from the cover of Southern Living magazine. I substitute all sugars for xylitol sweetner and instead of corn syrup I used Joseph's sugar free syrup. I substituted all purpose flour for whole wheat white flour and I made my own lemon curd, sugar free of course. OMG this cake is so good.
Oh and I made some homemade cranberry sauce.

Priscilla, Congrats on making your goal, 15 miles in one week is FABULOUS!

Sandra, I would love to see the diets of all the contestants. I'm sure some of them are using protein powders to get buffed up. How much protein powder is safe? What do you think?

Hi Everyone,

I watching Biggest Loser now, the episode is called "Where are they now". It's good to see them after leaving the ranch.

Yes, I think Fredo going to take the prize. He has really transformed himself. He's got to be careful of all the game playing. He may get voted off as part of someone's game playing. But I think he has made the biggest accomplishments this season.

Today, I did 2.5 miles on the track (jog/walk). I did week 4, day 2 of "couch to 5K" today. So far, so good. Did a little strength training about 35 minutes. I was busy catching up with friends that I haven't seen for a while at the health club.

Tomorrow is a rest day from exercise, so I will chat with everyone when I get back in town on Friday.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Great workouts ladies!

Hey who saw Biggest Loser last night? I tell you, that Fredo looked awesome. He barely looked like himself. I think he'll be the winner. What you think?

I was up this morning and got in my 2 miles on the treadmill. I'm sitting here at work now. I've got a lot of paperwork moved now I'm about ready to go. I've got to go to the grocery store and pick up a few items for my Thanksgiving day meal. I'm so excited about being off work until Monday.

I'll chat later, have a Blessed and Happy Day!!

Hi everyone!
Today, I did 35 minutes on the stairmaster machine. That machine can really wear you out! After that, I did a little boxing training for 20 minutes. It was nice to get out some of my frustration by hitting the punching bag.

I plan to get a little walking in today also.

Enjoy your day!!!
