Hi Friends!
I've been a Sparker for a few years (altho recently recommitted in the last few weeks), but it never occurred to me there might be a Quaker team. That is so cool!

I attend Live Oak Friends Meeting in Houston, but before I came back to my hometown in 1990, I attended Charlottesville meeting, Austin meeting, and Tempe meeting.

I'm not quite sure what Friendly Sparking looks like, but I like the idea of finding out.

Hi all,
I'm happy I've found this group. I currently have no meeting nearby to attend, but I'm always glad to see the love and peace expressed by friends.

Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally.

happy to find a team of Friends - I used spark people in 2008 and early '09 to improve my eating and exercise habits - which have not been very healthy lately. So I'm back to Spark People...
I was looking for smallish compatible teams and was happy to find this. I'm from Richmond VA Meeting (hi Christy!!) I am hoping to discover more of a connection between my physical and spiritual health.

Welcome to all who stop by here to check us out. As Friends and/or seekers, we are a diverse group. Here, our role is to support each other as we find our route to healthier lives through taking better care of our bodies and perhaps, our spiritual lives.

hey. *waves* just thought i would introduce myself.
i'm kat. i'm currently living in new mexico, but i'm getting ready to move back to south carolina, where my quaker ties still are, i suppose (i never fully got into the little meeting out here--probably, although it's a sad excuse, because i knew i would only be living here for a year)...

We have a tiny meeting but we are close and it is wonderful.
Are you currently chatting?

I know this is a tiny and inactive group, but I figure I'll announce my presence anyway. Maybe in time this group will grow. For now it functions as a bumper sticker on my profile page, and I'm ok with that too.

I identify as Quaker and pagan, spiritually informed by both, though not heavily into either at this time. I attended meeting from time to time for two years, but I just moved away from that meeting that I liked and don't know if I like the nearby alternatives. I try to live the Quaker testimonies in all my actions. I'm not sure if any of this relates to health or weight loss--perhaps in a roundabout way through Simplicity.

Browsing the religious Spark Teams, I noticed that there were a million Christian groups, several pagan ones, and a few atheist/agnostic group (that leaned toward being decidedly anti-religion on their message boards). But what about us Friends, and the diverse beliefs we hold?

I find great strength in my Quaker upbringing and the somewhat unconventional understanding of the divine it has brought me. And I know I'm not alone in that!

I hope this can be a place for those who worship in silence (or at programmed meeting!), who believe powerfully in peace, who rejoice in the love of strangers, and are committed to being, wherever we are and whatever we believe, Friends.

"I certainly wasn't happy. Happiness has to do with reason, and only reason earns it. No, what I was given was the thing you can't buy, and can't earn, and often don't even realize at the time: I mean joy."
