I've chosen to share one of the items I am "grateful" for: it would be the house I live in now. My husband and I are from New York City and have lived in apartments our entire lives. When we moved to Rochester, we purchased our first home - something we never thought we would be able to do in our lifetime. I am truly grateful for this home!

We're supposed to share one thing from our emotional template so

one thing Im grateful for is the kindness of strangers. Dealing with everything Im amazed at how often a stranger will ask me if Im ok or how Im doing for no other reason than because I look sad. And if I tell them a bit, Ive been offer prayers and hugs and even just a sounding board from perfect strangers. Its the sort of thing that really restores my faith in humanity.

Need Help in Arizona

I'm sorry to have been silent for so long. We've been sick the last couple of weeks, and it culminated last night with having to take SweetieOfStar to the V.A. hospital. He's okay and back at home. But . . .

I just got a call from my sister in Kingman, Arizona. She's 67 years old, has been sick the last couple of weeks, and is being evicted tomorrow. We don't have any money to send her. She only has her car to live in. Is there anyone in Arizona that can help her look into charities that can help her temporarily? I'm posting this everywhere I can.

My positive affirmation for this week was: I can...and I will!
It was a good one for me because I came down with a bad cold and felt pretty miserable but I kept repeating my affirmation and was able to push through and complete the ITCs. I did give myself some extra rest and sleep to try and ward off the cold and I am feeling better now.

@ Diane great message and one that I really need to practice.

I am still battling the stuffiness which I am fairly confident is allergy related, but overall I felt pretty good today. Marv and I went for an early walk this morning, about 40 minutes. Then I went to my yoga class which was awesome. This afternoon I ran errands and did 15 minutes of upper body strength.

Unfortunately while I was not feeling well last week I gained a few pounds because I ate too much bread products and was really disgusted with myself this morning. Anyway, I have had a great nutrition today and tracked everything I ate.

Being positive beats the negative out of you!! WOOOOHOOO!!

Here's something I LOVE



When I WANT something YUMMY to the max, but its just not good for me, I NEED to pick my hard. Hard to pass it UP? OH YES!! BUT!! Harder to eat it and gain weight.

So I just picked my hard!!

I do this for so many things now. I even printed this up and framed it in 2 places so it's seen often. When I get used to seeing it, I'll simply move the pictures around to another spot!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to wish everyone a Flab-U-Less summer challenge.

Time has a habit of doing its magic. As a little girl my mother taught me to have respect for my elders so I would sit and listen to their stories of remembering what it was like way back when...

Friday I became a septuagenarian and I must admit like my predecessors before me I enjoy talking about the "good old days," but I also enjoy NOW.

I think the idiom every cloud has a silver lining is true. Let's be honest, aging is not attractive and my body has slowed down quite a bit with limited endurance, but I love retirement with the ability to focus on things I truly find valuable and/or just enjoying the day and relaxing.

I don't know what the future holds and neither do you, but God has blessed me with today and I want to make the best of it.


The Fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Gentleness, Goodness, Faithfulness & Self-Control.

The thing I need help with most is building consistency, in both exercising and eating wisely. That scripture often motivates me to start again... regardless of the last results... just start again from right now.. and keep moving forward.

Almost all green yesterday just missed active minutes but achieved my steps per hour goal and had 13,979 steps. Today's workout plan is Legs and 20 min cardio of my choice then a little rest before 20 min cardio of my choice and Back. Think I'll do a 20 min treadmill walk first then after the short rest row for 20 min. Not sure if I mentioned it so I will my trainer competed in a comp this weekend and ended up in 4th place.

I'm sharing something that helps me mentally. Every day on my lunch hour, I take a long walk. If I walk for the full 60 minutes, it's a little over 3 miles of walking. I make a point of listening for birds and identifying them by their song, and I try to observe all the flowering plants and pay attention to the wind speed and direction - anything to really connect me to nature in that 60 minutes. It's like a mini-vacation from work. If anything comes into my mind about work, like planning my afternoon, or worrying about a problem from the morning, then I dismiss those thoughts from my mind as not being important right now. If I'm having trouble taking a mental break, then I focus on the sound of my footfalls as I walk, and kind of measure how long each breath is,...how many footfalls per inhalation, how many per exhalation. I return to work with my head in a new space.

I am sharing one thing that I do to help me mentally. I read at lunch every day. I need to because I need to get out of my head for a while. I am thinking that I can also do this on the treadmill. But, I prefer to do the treadmill before work. At lunch it just helps me to sit and read and get out of my head for one hour. It helps me through the stress at work.

It's 66 with a high of 82 and slight chance of rain later this morning. Fit quote for today: For me, I'm focused on what I want to do. I know what I need to do to be a champion, so I'm working on it.--Usain Bolt Motivational quote for today: Innovation distinguished between a leader and a follower.--Steve Jobs Almost all green on my Versa yesterday just missed active minutes but achieved my steps per hour goal and had 15,257 steps. After a gym rest day today it's Legs and 20 min cardio of choice and 20 min cardio of choice and Back. Since I'll miss Friday I'm doing 2 workouts tomorrow then moving the rest up a day to get Friday's workout in on Thursday afternoon instead of Friday.
