Good plan to go to a dietician Alexmax. You're so worth it! :-)

I used to eat all day long too. That was a long time ago now. When I initially gave up "snacking" I used to tell myself "it's only a couple hours till the next meal and then I can eat anything I want!"

Glad to see you on the No S spark team raw cookie!

Hi June
I decided that I would eat 3 regular meals per day at set times. Previously I was just grazing all the time instead of eating meals and I actually had no idea the amount I was eating, so that was the first change, so the snacking had to stop. I had to cut out the sugars no choice with that one, but then I went too far in that direction and ended up in hospital. So just for my body I go wild every other day and have a bowl of cereal or a slice wholemeal bread (usually bread). I can't even think about anything with sugar for at least the next 2-3 years, so mine is a modified version of the Nos diet. I made a decision yesterday I am going to see a dietician who specialises in Rheumatology and Endocrinology because I am not getting enough calories for the amount of exercise I do, but I am exercising so much because the meds are making hyper. So I'm stuck in a vicious circle, so I'm getting professional help.
On the BT front, I have spoken to some really nice people at the Indian call centre, the frustration comes in because this fault has been on going for 5 long years and it is caused by an equipment fault in the exchange. The people that control the equipment are in this country and the poor people stuck in the call centre have to stick to a script and they have to go through everything each time step by step, so this is the fault of BT not the call centre people. However, they are adjusting our profile each time it drops so we have to just wait until the engineer comes this morning and it will hopefully be sorted out for the next 3-6 months.
I just wanted to say congratulations for doing so well! emoticon Plus I really enjoyed reading your blog post. Have a great day!

Well, I just enjoyed reading through the info on the website - and it sounds very sensible to me, especially the stuff about snacks........ I've been thinking for a while that I need to cut down my snacks. I think back to how I ate as a child, and we only ever had three meals a day, and things like cakes or sweets were treats - often at the weekend.

On balance, I am going to try this - although I'm going to leave fruit in as a snack because I'm not feeling confident about going 'cold turkey' on them. I like what he writes about not everyone 'getting' it the first time round too ....... cutting out snacks, sweets and seconds 5 days a week sounds sensible to me, and also, as someone says, we're never far away from an 'S' day!

Thanks for posting the link - you've Sparked me!

I'm glad you managed to post that message after you wrote it! What a disappointment it would be if you clicked post and lost the connection before it posted. I often draft in Word and copy it to the thread so I don't lose it if there's a problem. Like I'm doing now (not!...)

So are you doing an S day and an N day alternately all week? Is that what you're saying? I think the idea of No S is that you really get it ground into your system that eating without snacks, sweet foods and seconds is the normal way to eat, but that it is also normal to eat extras sometimes to celebrate and enjoy etc. Keeping extras to weekends is a helpful way to reinforce that way of looking at food.

As for India... I was stunned shocked and amazed this week when I phoned BT to get such a helpful knowledgeable man answer. I assumed he was from one of the cities up North because he was obviously English with a foreign accent and I had no trouble at all understanding him and he seemed to understand me perfectly and to know exactly what he was doing. He was sooo helpful. Mind you I did choose the complaints department option. And... now you mention it... it could have been a call to someone in India with a good English accent! LOL!

PS No offence to anyone forom India, call centres, or with an accent different to mine, including Welsh etc ;-)
But... it is soooo frustrating to be talking on the phone and not be able to understand what someone is saying...

Hi June, hope you are well today emoticon As the internet seems to have sparked into life (wind must be in the right direction or something lol) today I thought I would give you my thoughts on the Nosdiet. I was amazed that this is what I was doing naturally, when the consultant diagnosed me and put me on steroids, the sum total of his advice was astounding: 1. Stop eating bread, potatoes, sugar etc. 2. Exercise every day (no rest for the wicked, I must have been really bad in a former life) 3. Portion control.
So I came home did tonnes of research and used some common sense and I pretty much do the Nosdiet without knowing there was a diet called the Nosdiet!
The only difference is that I switch every other day, as I have found that it works better for me. The only thing I have decided to do is visit a dietician, I have found one that deals with Rheumatology and women's health, as I seem to be falling quite short of the calorie requirements for the amount of exercise that I do. Plus even though I'm doing calcium, D3 and Vitamin K supplements I lost 2oz of bone mass last week, so I want to see if there is anything else I can do to help with that.
I have discovered though after a month of doing this I feel amazing, even on my equivalent s days I'm choosing healthier meals (I have discovered a love of middle eastern salads) bulghur wheat and quinoa are my new favourite foods. I love that I can make one meal amp it up for Chris and my boys, but still sit down and eat with the family.
Sorry for the length of the message but who knows how long the internet is going to be working, in reply to what am I going to tell the engineer..... Quite simple, sort your lives out, replace the piece of equipment that is broken at your exchange and please can we have a fault reporting number for the UK instead of having to spend 2 hours a day on the phone to India explaining the problem. It has been causing havoc for Chris as he is self employed and works from home, absolute nightmare.
Hope you have a good day, I'm off for my 5k now, then I'm strength bootcamp and yoga later, plus a little weeding and housework. No aerobics or zumba today, this is my 'rest day'
Take care
Alexis

I'll be honest, that sounds like a recipe for massive weekend-long binges to me. I'm going to stick with moderation at all times.
