Subway chicken teriyaki, otherwise steak or ribs with baked potato and salad. I try to leave at least half the potato and take half the steak home. I do go for desserts, for me desserts is a rear treat and I am not going to stop them altogether. I usually have a light lunch if we are going out later.

I am in. US and I am wondering how it works over there. I was born and raised in County Durham and I have been so long in US I can only tell you how we do it.
We have favorite restaurants and fast food too.
Most of our restaurants locally have the menu on the internet so you can start by knowing what you want to eat. Ask them for a menu and check on their. nutrition information.
I had a folder at the beginning but now DH and I have our GO TO MEAL all picked out.

When you get there ask for your Entrée and swap out your sides for something you like better. Eating with vegetables and Protein is best in restaurants.
Once you ask for Pasta, or any casserole then the sky is the limit and so is the sodium.
If you must order that you should ask to box half of the meal in the kitchen. That works for us.

We decline Bread and if it is a long wait our restaurants will bring pop corn. Some places just throw the salt and b utter on. Others will give you a plain bowl. It is crunchy, it is high fiber and it will begin to fill your stomach so you only need half of your meal.
We rarely do dessert unless it is a celebration an d DH and I will half that too.
Ask for ALL DRESSINGS, SOUR CREAM BUTTER ETC ON THE SIDE SO YOU ARE IN CHARGE.
That is the way we do it and it works.
PLAN AHEAD and Call ahead seating works great. Standing in line for too long really gets you way too hungry.

So your going out, where do you go and what do you order so that you keep to your plan?

Subways 6inch tuna sub is a quick bite.
Pizza Express Leggera pizza tastes good and typically takes care of the hunger.
There is also a Vietnamese place close by that does a wonderful sweet and sour soup - large filling portions with lots of veg and even fresh pineapple. I hope on that one - as I don't actually know the calorie count.

How do you keep to plan?
