Good for you! I feel the same way, and yes that is a funny way to put it, one foot in the grave! That is how we are treated as if OMG, you're pregnant why would you do that. Well, sorry but I see the "high risk age" changing in the future and we don't hear about these celebrities who are older being criticized do we? !! My next US is in 5 days, can't wait, this has been the longest 2 months of my life!

I hear you, Michelle. It is like we already have one foot in the grave!! LOL!! My family is just as bad -- I realize my dad was 46 when I graduated from college, but still. I did do the first trimester screening recently, and my neo-natal specialist is pushing for me to do amnio. I am not interested in amnio -- the first trimester screening was one thing, as it was non-invasive and it was good to know my risks are lower than for most people my age, but beyond that . . . They will be doing an ultrasound on Oct. 8th to make sure the baby's organs are operating properly, especially the chambers of the heart, so that we know whether we need specialists there for the delivery. But whether my baby has Downs or whatever, I'm not terminating this pregnancy, and I'm not interested in a procedure that might cause the baby to miscarry. I know this can be controversial, but fortunately, my DH and I see eye-to-eye on this issue, so it was a no-brainer for us. :)

If I hear one more person, friend, Dr. etc. mention the fact that I am old and fat and a high risk for complications I am going to scream and want to say Shut up already can't you just be happy for me! There's this test and that test they say I should be taking, when I read that regardless of the actual results the answers will come back "high risk" because of my starting weight and age, so seriously! And would I love my baby any less or end my pregnancy due to down syndrome or anything else, No I wouldn't. Well, I think I finally got the point across that I am not interested in taking any tests as most are painful and a risk to the baby themselves! This pregnancy is truly a miracle and I am doing my best to eat right, exercise a little, probably could do more but walking is about it and it has been so hot, anyway I have to remain positive and stop listening to all these negative comments! Sorry, had to vent a little. ;)
