Well I have the old set and at my certification I got a basic steps review with music and the 08 ones too. So if you need to get a DVD then just stick with the Zumba ones, but that's not necessarily what you will get in class at all. Instructors can sign up for ZIN which we get videos in the mail every couple months plus we can do our own choreography.

However, if you have a class you're going to (I can't remember) then just go and have fun!

Sandy, emoticon That is just too cool!!!! You must be so proud. Do you have a fovorite dvd to do Zumba at home? I am looking for a good one to do at home that teaches you the steps. I seen Core Rhythms on tv(an info adv) and it looked interesting. I guess you would say I am not a beginner, but no pro either.
Hugs, Carol

If you are a member on any of the other Zumba SP teams, I apologize b/c I'm going to post this on all 3 of them that I am a member of. I am just so excited!

Ok now, several people have asked how the workshop was. Here's my general nutshell version of my day:
We drove to Martinsburg, WV Friday night and spent the night at the hotel. I had packed WAY too much. The email I got from Erick (ZES) said to bring 3 outfits for the day, water, snacks, lunch. So at registration, I got to meet Erick. We were there around 8am. At 8:45 am, he came in and started our warm up. Oh man I thought I was going to die, his warm up was 15 minutes straight, and INTENSE. This was the start of the master class which ran one hour. It was extremely challenging and very much fun! After this, everything was sweat. He dismissed us for 15 minutes to go change and what not. Then we had some lecture on the history, physiology, and psychology of zumba. Then we got up and did warm up lesson - variations of dance and fitness. This was the 2nd most challenging part of the day. Then we did more lecture, I think next was about your role in engaging the class, new people coming in, all that stuff. Then we hasd 20 minutes to get lunch together and we ate in the fitness studio on the floor and finished up while he continued to lecture. Then he showed us how to draw out a song for the various parts, identifying the 4 basic beats: merengue, salsa, folk/cumbia, raggaeton. Then he showed us the various steps and variations you can do with them, which was followed shortly by a choreography segment which was challenging overall. Our small groups presented some choreo (our group totally bombed due to a couple of leadership "issues"), we talked about and signed up for ZIN (Zumba Instructor Network) and then the day was over!

It was really amazing. Erick has inspired me in so many ways. I am so so so so so excited to get back to the gym tomorrow to talk to my mentor about it (she had the same ZES for her Basics class!) and work on everything I learned!!!
