Been sewing and so haven't been here much the last couple of days. Working on a quilt for my older son for Christmas.

No thoughts about December. I'll keep thinking.

We've had a big snow storm and so today my office closed early. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I enjoyed Thanksgiving too much. Working on getting back to where I was.
Later,

It is the last day Good People! What shall we do next?

I intend to keep my computer time low again this month, so my SP forum interactions will be limited, however I will be getting some points (exercise, spin the wheel, put in goal activities for teams).

Any thoughts on a December forum? A challenge? (I'm still working on "20 mins for me")

Is there a conversation that anyone would like to invite deeper discussion on?

I'm sorry to hear about the ice storm and your fall. I'm so glad you're ok.

I have had a sewing machine for over 10 years, but I have only taken it out maybe 5 times. One of these days I might actually take some lessons. My Mom sews sometimes. She has always wanted a surger though.

I took my machine out during the holiday season of 2012 & 2013. I hemmed some pants and patched some jeans. It was good while it lasted.

Well~ Happy Holidays!!

Thanksgiving we had a huge ice storm. We tried to go to my family's and after I fell on the ice outside of McDonalds, we went home. I was okay. We put together a dinner. Where my family were all gathering the weather was nice and everyone was there, except for me!
Yesterday, I took the kids and we went to my sister's. She is leaving for Arizona in a few days, so I felt like I had to get her Christmas gift to her. Had turducken and saw my nieces and nephews. Nice day.
Also, we got a sewing machine on Black Friday, so I've started work on the t-shirt quilt I promised my older son almost four years ago. I hope to give it to him for Christmas.
Oh, did I mention we have another winter storm watch starting tomorrow night and running through Tuesday. Oh, well, I have my sewing machine.
And speaking of that sewing machine. I've been sewing since I was 10. I learned on my mother's Singer she bought about that time. I had that machine until I broke it trying to fix a back pack with it. We were told that it wasn't worth fixing, so I had been without....until yesterday. I felt like I was having to relearn how to run a sewing machine. I had gotten a computerized machine with all kinds of stitches and things that I didn't have on my old machine. Today, I am feeling more competent, but all I've done is straight stitch.

Well, that wasn't particularly painful~

This year I really sat with how annoyed, impatient and even mean some of my family members are with kids. More than anything they lack a certain compassion for their existence. [Sit down (for 5 hours?!), eat all your dinner (which is too much for ME), quit whining (in a room made for 3 - 5 people, filled with 10 and lots of cigarette smoke), no candy (even though there is a pretty colorful display right where everyone walks by) and there is nothing to do but watch TV.] If someone treated me that way, I would leave [but i'm a kid and i can't]. OK~ done with that.

I'll have to re-think hosting....

Thanks Lee. We are going to where my son goes to school and take him and his girlfriend out for dinner at his favorite place, Red Robin or Famous Dave's. And unless the weather gets bad, we are all going to my sister's for the holiday. My kids were born on/near holidays so birthdays tend to be all week affairs. I'll take birthday cup cakes to Thanksgiving for my son. His birthday is actually tomorrow. He informs us that his girlfriend's older brother (a thirty-something social worker) has something planned for his birthday since he didn't do anything for his 21st birthday. Last year he was waiting until his girlfriend turned 21 in January to do something.

Weather looks a bit iffy for Thanksgiving here, so I need to have food and plans to put together dinner here at home if need be. I love holidays and especially Thanksgiving, so that isn't the issue.

I'm just not very happy with life right now. It's pretty complicated, but the changes I have been trying to have happen haven't happened yet. I keep hoping and praying, but it's hard to keep going. And it's hard to keep the hope. There are several areas I am referring to. Bottom line is I'm not where I wanted to be at this point.

Cindi~ Happy Birthing Day to YOU!!

I know what you mean about out of control. If I might make a few suggestion/give us all some reminders
--- try to keep it simple
--- take 20 minutes each day for you. Get away from everyone and take some time just for you (walk, pray, meditate, nap).
--- Ask for help from a lot of different people. "Delegate" some of the simple tasks or the ones that don't have to be perfect; or the ones you keep putting off! Be specific in your request -
**Send someone else to the store with the shopping list, ask someone else to *vacuum, *wipe down the bathroom (not CLEAN it), *set the table, *pull out the serving utensils, *pick & put on the music, *set up the bar area. The *tough* part is to let them do it, and tell them you will check on it when they are done so they are less likely to ask for help while you are doing something else. ~sometimes, its the prep time that makes the best memories; when you and loved ones are preparing together emoticon And let's not forget to say thank you - A LOT!
Enough of that, I made myself annoyed emoticon

This week will be a bit tricky. In addition to Thanksgiving, its my son's birthday. Tomorrow we celebrate with him.

Currently I am feeling a bit out of control and stressed. Working on keeping up my workouts and eating right.

What's up Folks? I stopped in because I got a couple ours of exercise today and didn't want to jump right in front of the TV yet.

What are your Thanksgiving plans? What are you cooking? What are you looking forward to?

Thanksgiving is next Thursday~ WOW.

I has been sunny here and not too cold yet, which I love. It hasn't gotten me outside exercising much like I hoped it would. It does have me going out to work more and connect with people. That's a good thing over all, however it ends up being over food most of the time. Oh well... No use in complaining when it really has to do with what choices I make.

Not been a good month in some ways. I keep hoping for things to happen.

Need to get back on track with diet and exercise. It doesn't help that my son who is home wants more foods around that I can't leave alone.

Hey Folks~ Just came in to say emoticon
I am so pleased that we have gotten half way through this month and there is NO emoticon emoticon
Of course, the plan of using my SP time to exercise hasn't quite worked out that way. I have just spent more time at work, but away from the computer. Not such a bad thing.

What is going on with all of you?

It does feel strange to go to work when it is daylight already. It does make me feel like I am running late as you said. It takes time to adjust that's for sure! Soon it will be dark when I get home from work and that will feel strange too. I don't think I will like that very much:)

I am still adjusting to the time change- I am waking up according to the old time, and I feel like I'm running late all the time since it's so light out when I go to work. I have been 90% successful in tracking my food and writing in my thankful journal each morning, I am really hoping that I hit my 5 pound mark with Weight Watchers this week ( Spark People is awesome- I just need face to face with people once a week).

LET'S DO THIS!

Thank you for the Halloween spark goodie! I'm sorry I'm not on here very much anymore! I just can't get into doing anything on the computer much anymore:)

Did you turn your clocks back? Yes, 3 by hand, and the computer and phone did it automatically.

How did you spend Halloween? I stayed in bed afterwork and turned off the lights so no one would knock at my door. I wasn't feeling well and just slept the night away.

So, November is here. What's the plan? Are we ready for a good autumn challenge? I am ready ( I think) not really motivated lately, still having health problems, but need to get interested in something again. I have no particular plans for November.

I did have a good birthday yesterday though! I went to the casino with my nephew and sister and then later went to dinner with all 3 of my kids and their spouses. My DD made me a homemade peach pie ( since I don't care for cake) and we all had a good time. My nephew gave me a tee shirt that said, " I may not be a superhero, but I survived cancer so close enough!". I thought that was pretty sweet:)

I agree. With the challenge I'm in I kept changing what day I was in because I couldn't keep up. I am thinking this one will be drawn out on purpose. I am hoping the material will help me and if I need to restart it, oh well.

This cold is really doing me in. I really don't care whether I am on program right now.

Hi Cindi~ sorry you have a cold emoticon

That challenge looks interesting~ I'm not going to commit to the whole thing, but I'll sign up and let it give some idea each day of a way of being more healthy and focused on moving and eating better.

The candy and sweets have done me in over the last couple of weeks!

Lee and anyone else: There is a 30 Day Step Into Holiday Health Challenge here at Sparkpeople. I'm starting it. Anyone want to do it with me, or maybe we can do it all together as a team. There are daily challenges and tips. My plan is to make the 30 days stretch for two months.

Just turned the clocks back.

How did I spend Halloween? Sick, eating all the wrong things, feeling terrible, took a nap instead of my walk. Hoping tomorrow I'll feel better. Colds are no fun!

My plan tomorrow (November) to get back on track.
If the cold is over, I'll be ready for a challenge.

OK~ This topic isn't particularly positive, but it reflects my feeling at the moment. The whole string can always be put on the back burner....

Did you turn your clocks back?

How did you spend Halloween? I gave away candy for the first time in a few years; it was great!

So, November is here. What's the plan? Are we ready for a good autumn challenge?
