Yeah, seems like women outnumber men here by a LOT.

Ouch! I might redefine "friends" in that situation!

My high school was a particularly open, clique-free experience and our reunions have been organized on facebook, so really anybody in the world could join in and find out where we were meeting and crash the party. I'm sorry your school is so much less open.

As for the married or gay problem, I used to joke that when I lived in Cape May, all the men I met were either toothless, alcoholic, married or all of the above. (Try not to judge me too harshly for my shallowness about teeth.) But if I was honest back then, the biggest thing excluding men from my consideration was just that I am not attracted to the overwhelming majority of the men I meet, and it's not surprise that a lot of appealing men are married - their partners found them attractive, too. I think that was part of the fun of my singles volleyball group. We were all 40-something heterosexual singles, and it was mostly just volleyball, but one of the guys in my group was completely charming and funny and meeting him was the highlight of being in the group for me, although I loved the volleyball, too.

I know what you are saying, but like I said, EVERY man I have looked into has been married or gay.

I am hoping I can grab a catch soon. I am no spring chick.

I bury myself in work.

I downloaded a few books from the library's website about finding a man. I simply have to allow myself to actually read them as I find reading books a luxury. One of the books is by Steve Harvey. How the man found time to write a book is beyond me. He is so funny, so it should be good.

I would love to get my hair done. My hair is drab and boring. Doing so would probably make me look a million times better.

Do you know how many times I have just said "I"? LOL

As for reunions, I was never invited. All of my friends got married and guess who did not get invited?

Well, I will close for now...

i am a firm believer in meeting people while in the midst of doing things I love. Guarantees that I meet people with whom I have stuff in common. So the men I've met since graduation (it used to be that EVERYONE I dated was someone I met at school) were at:

high school reunion (I know, that's school again)
work
singles volleyball group
an astro lecture
the produce section of the grocery store
a voter registration drive
sharing food on an intercity bus
talking to people I see routinely at the train station

And note to the single women out there - in many of those random public meetings, I have been the first to speak. I don't typically pick men I'm attracted to and try to chat them up, I just start conversations with strangers all the time. People are interesting!

I have looked in church, restaurants, library, stores, etc. They are either married or gay. I do not do the bar scene and do not do on-line dating. uuugh
