I know that our school counselors have some materials. The way my son's recruiters talked they are doing this all over and are looking for more people to join the program. They also said I'll be getting a packet so I'm waiting to see what all is in it.

Thank you for taking this project on! You are a great resource as well because your son is part of the program and another one already in.

Our water group was talking about the lack of military strength just Friday, hopefully this will settle in the students minds and consider it and that the parents encourage it as well. That pre-entry program is such a plus because it better prepares them (and their parents) for boot camp and beyond. At least the Navy program does so I would expect it is the same for the other branches.

Are they also providing materials to the school counselors?

Here is the email I received.

Kateri,

Greetings, and welcome to U.S. Army Recruiting Commandís Partnership Outreach Program!

Thank you so much for taking the initiative to volunteer your time to support your U.S. Army. We have a very important mission to ensure our nation is prepared to protect its citizens, and your support and assistance is critical to that mission.

USAREC is headquartered at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and has about 13,000 recruiters and support personnel stationed all around the world. Our team is responsible for providing Soldiers for two of the three U.S. Army components Ė the active Army and the Army Reserve. Recruiting for the National Guard is managed at the state level.

Iím sure you have heard the Army is increasing its end strength, which translates into a significant mission for the recruiting force. Finding and hiring more than 92,500 fully qualified individuals per year is quite a challenge, especially since only 29 percent of young Americans meet the qualifications to serve.

Our recruiters are engaging young people every day to create awareness of the opportunities and benefits the Army offers. This is where we could really use your help.

The fact is, 50 percent of youth today admit they know little to nothing about their nationís military. They say they canít even name all the services.

If they donít understand the services, I promise you they arenít going to consider joining. I see this as a disservice to them. They deserve to understand all of their future career options, so they can make an informed decision about the best path for their lives.

As a USAREC partner, you can help us tell the Army story and ensure our all-volunteer force remains strong for generations to come. If you are a veteran, you have a powerful personal story to tell, and you experiences could help young people in your community see the side of the military they donít see in the movies and on the news.

If you are a community leader, your influence can make a positive impact for your Army. Sometimes it takes someone who doesnít wear a uniform to open doors to those who are skeptical about the military and donít understand the true benefits and opportunities of service.

Many young people today only think of infantry and tanks when they think of the Army. The truth is nearly every career in the civilian world can be found in the military. I encourage you to explore some of our 150 different career options online at goarmy.com.

From the USAREC headquarters, we will send you a quarterly recruiting update to help you understand the opportunities and programs we offer, so you will have the ability to knowledgeably communicate about the Army. We will also connect you to the recruiters in your local area, so you will have the opportunity to participate in local activities, encourage youth in your community to learn about Army careers, and meet Future Soldiers who are getting ready to ship to basic training.

Attached is a graphic you are welcome to post on your personal social media pages using #SupportYourArmy to help us educate the people in your circle about the Army opportunity. You can share your own Army story with the post, or you are welcome to copy and paste the following to share with the graphic:

Encourage young Americans to consider all options for their future, to include military service. With 150 different career options, job certifications, tuition assistance and extensive leader development programs, the #USArmy offers a competitive advantage in the workplace. #SupportYourArmy

Thank you again for volunteering to support our recruiting mission. I look forward to hearing about your efforts in communities across the nation!
