Hi everyone.

We had a lazy day. I finished another book, started the next one in the series, made homemade soup and brownies. We arenít doing anything exciting for New Yearís eve. Maybe Iíll have a glass of wine or something.

Take care.
Have a safe and wonderful New Yearís Eve. I hope you all have a terrific year in 2011.

Hi everyone. Six am rolled around more quickly that I wanted it to; but ďI owe, I owe; itís off to work we goĒ . . .

Work wasnít too bad today. I am down only one person this week so we are doing better on catching up.

I left a roast in the crock pot today so we had a nice meal waiting for us when we got home. Marty is making some spaghetti sauce for us to have tomorrow night. It looks like we are getting snow and cold later this week so I want to get some groceries before the weekend. It sounds like a good idea to make soup this weekend.

I got my new glasses today. I guess my eyes have improved since the last time I had glasses made (2 years) so they seemed weak to me at first but my vision seems to be improving as the day goes by. Closeup is great but distance is still fuzzy.

Char, I am excited and anxious to hear your good news. I am sure the nursing homes loved your visit and music. How wonderful of your student to bring you a basket of goodies and also to offer to help you get some things done. Your friend in CA sounds like a real treasure; how nice of hear to send you a lovely coat. Stay safe and warm; so much of the country is getting pounded with snow and ice.

Laters,
Marcy

Actually, I have had a wonderful last few days before Christmas. I will wait until I get some verification to tell you my best news, because it is hard for me to believe it, yet. That afternoon I played Christmas songs on my violin at three nursing homes and they all seemed to enjoy it so much. It was really as much of a blessing to me as it was to them.

However Thursday I had the best Christmas gifts of all. I went to the vet's and got Buster's ( my14 year old Pom) pills for 3 months so I don't have to go back in the winter. That afternoon I got a call from one of my former students who was a pall bearer at my husband's funeral and he came over and gave me a big basket of goodies from his mom and his wife. (He was my student from the time he was 8 until he was 16 years old and he is close to 40 now) He is going to do some work for me that I need done (no charge). He is like family and I truly appreciate him.

Another (new) student came while he was here and brought me some organic gluten free pasta. What a treat! I replaced her E string which she broke tuning it. Since I am on vacation until after the new year she really needed it so she could continue to practice.

Also on that same day a friend from CA sent me a wonderful warm wool black coat. It is really pretty and very warm. I had mentioned I needed one and was quite surprised that she went out and found one in a second hand store that looked this great and shipped it to me. She lost her husband a couple of years ago and she has been so much help to me and basically has been one of the people who have helped me keep myself together.

I told my mom that it had been a long time since I had felt that loved and cared for in one day. It was truly a blessed day for me!

I got to spend a little time both Christmas Eve and today with my mom even though the roads are bad and getting worse. I am not sure I am going into church tomorrow. I will have to watch the weather very closely. It is still freezing rain out and we have a little snow, too. We are supposed to have a low of 19 tonight and a high of 29 tomorrow making road conditions out here in the country very "iffy".

Marcy it sounds like you had a great Christmas!!!
I hope everyone else did, too. Stop by and let us know.

I need to eat my dinner yet. I got busy and didn't so I will get off here and do that right now.

Merry Christmas. We got up about 8. I made homemade pancakes for breakfast then we went through our stockings and our gifts bags. Yes, we were lazy this year and didn't wrap gifts. Marty's favorite present is magnetic buckyballs that one of his employees got him. He couldn't find me the pink gel cover for my phone or Photoshop elements for Mac in town yesterday so I just ordered them on Amazon.com awhile ago. He got me a nice top and vest which I am going to wear today and some Wusthoff paring knives and assorted other fun things. We are having dinner with my parents in a little while.

I hope you are all having a marvelous day and a Merry Christmas.

Hi everyone. One more day of work then a 3 day weekend. Woo hoo. We should get off a little early tomorrow.

It doesnít look like we will have a white Christmas. Rats.

Karen, I heard we had clear skies for a few hours during the eclipse but I didnít get up for. Sorry it was raining when you were out then. I am right there with you on stress eating. I sure know what my new yearís resolution is going to be. Get back in line! Have a safe trip and enjoy you time in Indiana.

Char, how cool you got to see the eclipse. The photos I have seen are great. Yay for getting your driveway taken care of; I am glad it will be safer for you now. Woo hoo for getting some things accomplished. Some days we just seem to be spinning out wheels and other days seem to go along very well.

Off to download the book I need to read before I can finish the one I am reading now.

Laters,
Marcy

Woohoo!!!!!! I can't believe my good fortune!! I DID get to see the eclipse! It had been cloudy all day but just before the eclipse it cleared off and was crystal clear most of the time. It was absolutely beautiful and I am so glad I stayed up for the whole thing.

I not only got to view the progress of eclipse with my naked eye, but I even got to view it through my 4.5 inch short focal length Astroscan and with my high powered binoculars. That pretty much made my day or night.

Then this morning I did get a lot accomplished that I had been trying to accomplish yesterday, and this afternoon the man I called to work on my drive came and put gravel on it and leveled it. I really needed that so I don't fall walking in my own drive way.

Karen, hope you and your husband have a safe trip over the holidays. Maybe when the hustle bustle of the season is over your body will stop the craving so much. I think our bodies remember times and seasons and even if we are doing well I think it carries in its memory the stress of times past.

Everyone make yourself a great tomorrow.

Hi! I am in mad scramble mode this week since we're flying to Indiana on Friday (yes, Christmas eve!). One thing I was hoping to get done today has had to be put off until tomorrow. The funny thing is, I haven't been feeling that much anxiety and stress outwardly, but I've been stress-eating. I really need to watch that!

I would have loved to see the eclipse last night, but it's been cloudy and rainy for the last few days. I was actually out driving around the time the eclipse was taking place because I picked up my son from his girlfriend's house, but it was definitely too cloudy and rainy to see the moon. Bummer!

Char, emoticon on losing 5 lbs! I hope you are able to get stuff accomplished today if you need to.

Marcy, I have a few last minute gifts to buy, but at this point, they are likely to be bought in Indiana or St. Louis where we'll see those family members.

Hi all, today was kind of a blah day. It was one of those days that no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get anything accomplished no matter what it was. I spent hours on the phone to no avail. It is not that it was so bad but just frustrating.

I had planned to view the eclipse, and I am going to stay up and try, but it is cloudy here clearing only occasionally enough to see the moon. I will stay up and let you know how it turns out. I am not holding out much hope for a good viewing. I have my binoculars on hand, though, just in case.

I had a rice, broccoli, chicken, and cheese casserole that I made for lunch and a sandwich for supper. I think I got my meals backward today but it is probably better for me to eat lighter in the evening.

I hope tomorrow will be a better day so focus on that for me if you would. I need to get stuff accomplished tomorrow.

Hi! I was only semi good today. At least it was an improvement though.

I was sure rough having the alarm go off at 6:10 am this morning. Sleeping in for 8 days was so nice. Since Iíve been staying up well past midnight I was not very sleepy when I went to bed at 11:15 pm either. Hopefully Iíll get to sleep about 11 tonight and be okay tomorrow.

My team did a great job while I was out so that made it nice to go back to work.

I made us reasonable calorie patty melts for supper tonight. I used the 45 cal per slice bread, 2% cheese slide, 96% lean hamburger so they were about 300 calories. I baked a few oven fries to go with them.

Are you all done with your Christmas shopping yet? I need one or two small gifts but thatís about it. I hope Martyís few presents I have coming in the mail show up on time.

Char, I am glad the cards are almost done. I am sure everyone who received your special cards will treasure them. Congratulations for losing 5 pounds - that is wonderful. I am so excited for you.

Are any of you going to stay up late and watch the eclipse? I am not.

I am off to read.

HI all,
The cards I sent out are almost gone. They were the ones with a cowboy or a man and a team of horses on them. I could have never used them had I not sent them out that way and it seemed to mean so much to everyone who received them. I know my husband would have wanted it that way because he meant for them to have them.

Joss, thanks for the invite. Wish I were rich and could fly right down there. However, after my trip to Louisville to get the award for my dh my wings are pretty well clipped. LOL

Marcy, it sounds like it was a good family Christmas if there was plenty of good food and no fights. Sorry about the cookies. emoticon

I had a pleasant surprize last night and this morning. I was really sure I had gained weight but I had not been on a scale in a while, so last night I mustered the courage to get on the scale and to my surprise I had lost 5 pounds. I figured my scale was wrong so I weighed in again at my mom's this morning, and, sure enough, I had lost 5 pounds according to her scale, too. Guess I will have to believe it. I had not changed my weight on my tracker so today I changed it so I would have an honest weight on my page. Now I only have 10 pounds to lose to be back to my goal weight I had reached and was maintaining before all that happened. I had really let it creep up for too long. Now I can focus on getting back to where I was and maybe loose a few more pounds for good measure.

I had lunch and dinner with my mom, ate sensibly and feel pretty good about today. I took in a sweet potato pie (huge) and some dressing for Christmas dinner. It is frozen so all we have to do is just thaw and cook. Just thought I would get it there earlier just in case it decides to snow or something she will have something she likes to eat there. I saved back a frozen tub of dressing for me, too, just in case we get stuck apart. Of course she has the pie now, but that will be to my advantage since I am serious about losing this excess weight again.

Joss, did I mention how pretty you look? If not I just did. You look beautiful in your new pictures on your spark page. Good going, girl!!!!

Everyone, have a great week and we all need to try not to sabatoge ourselves or let anyone else do that to us. Stay focused and alert for food traps this week.

Joss, I have gotten better at computer problems but Marty still figures out the weird stuff that I run across. Glad to hear you and Craig have a good balance there. Cookies and photos sound like great Christmas presents. Too funny about giving Craig his present already. We are very bad at that too. Enjoy the Summer weather for me. Wish Craig good luck on his stress test, that is very scary. Glad to hear the little guy is feeling better.

Char, sending out the cards for you husband sounds heart wrenching but I am sure his friends will be very moved to receive them and I am glad it is helping you doing something for him. Hugs to you my friend. I am glad to hear you are staying warm. Great idea to take a break until after the New Year. You deserve it.

Our family Christmas was today and we hosted it. I think it went well at least no fights anyway. I ate so many cookies I started to feel bad. Stupid candy cane cookies. I sent a bag home with each family and split up the rest for each of us to take in to work tomorrow. Then the cookies will be gone. Tomorrow I am being good. I swear!

Well, take care. My Kindle is calling me.

Have a great Monday.
Marcy

Char,
I think its lovely that your sending out christmas cards on behalf of your DH. Big hugs to you and sending you my love.
You are ALWAYS welcome to come and stay at our house during the summer! We have a guest room open to anyone (obviously within reason! i.e. I have to know them) who wants to stay in Melbourne for a holiday. We are 45 minutes out of the CBD, but its a good hub as we have public transport right out the door.... however, the biggest drawback is if you don't mind being woken at 3am to Alexander!
Sending you all my warm weather! (I don't want it too warm at the moment please!)

Hi All,
It is so good to hear from everyone!!! I am still not quite done with all the shopping. I have a few more gift cards to get.

I am sending Christmas cards on as as received basis and I am sending out the ones that my husband bought to send to his friends and putting in memory of on them. Don't know if that has been done before but it helps get me through because I am sending them for him.

Karen, Yes, I am staying warm and thanks for asking. I am snug as a bug in a rug right now. We had freezing rain this morning so had to cancel lessons today. I may just cancel them until after the New Year and start back teaching then. It would be a nice break.

I don't buy enough from Amazon to make the membership worth while for me. However, if you buy a lot there the membership would definitely be the way to go.

With any place that offers free shipping I try to always get that, but sometimes I just need things that I have to pay shipping on or not get. I also have found that sometimes the price plus shipping for one seller might be less than some other seller's best price with free shipping. Its like a game to compare the deals to see which is really best. Exhilarating when you get a really good deal!!!

Joss, I envy you your warm weather. Wish you could just send it up here. I could use a little of summer about now.

Poor baby! It sounds like he is not going to have a very good 2nd month celebration.

emoticon

Craig might not particularly enjoy his stress test so close to Christmas but if the results are good then it will be a good Christmas present. We will hope and pray that the results are good. If it would be something that needs attention he will be glad he didn't put it off.

I envy your DSLR too and the lenses. I almost bought one when I had the money and I found one on sale, but I just didn't see spending the money without my dh to show the photos. That was the main reason I wanted it so I could show him how beautiful the universe is. But maybe he is seeing that from a better perspective than we are now.

Marcy, I missed the Geminids. It has been cloudy here, too, and pretty much miserable. Did you put the sky calendar up this month? I have had so much happening here that I forgot. Oops.

The tech support that gets hired anymore can really be frustrating. I always used to tell my dh that I hated to call it because I really would like to speak to someone who knows more about my computer than I do. Most times I have just had to fix it myself.

Hi all!
Marty sounds like a true handyman! Lucky you to have him around, especially during the IT problems! I also have one of those around, Craig can fix anything technological and I will do everything else, so we have it covered.
Christmas shopping is all done for me, except for the friends, which I am planning to make cookies and also print off nice photos of friends and put them in picture frames.
I get so many "orders" for christmas presents (my sister-in-law wrote me a list for her family!) that to me the true meaning of christmas seems to have gone. This year I am ignoring the lists and giving my friends and family something that I think that they will like and if they don't like it... then too bad! emoticon
I came home on Monday from shopping for Craig's present upon which, I thought I had done exceptionally well. I learnt my lesson from last year- worst present ever, I brought him a deep fryer- something he has absolutely no use for! (I believe it was used once for my sake and is now resting happily in the back of our cupboard.) Anyway, was so oober stoked that I had FINALLY got a good one, I think I managed one night before giving it to him! I now remember the reason why I leave everything to the last minute emoticon

Summer is definitely here - average temperature this last week is 27c/ 80.6F. Our household is finally recovering from the summer flu. The little dude is finally looking healthier, just in time for his 2 month old injections on monday (happy monthday to him!) and Craig is back at work, although he has some chest pains in the last 3 weeks and on christmas eve he has an exercise stress test for his heart. Not sure if he gets the results straight away- here's hoping its all good.

Craig brought me a couple of lens for my DSLR for christmas, he gave them to me early as I gave his early. I have put a couple in our team photograph section.

Hope all is well with all.
emoticon

emoticon Marcy for getting your Christmas cookies done! I haven't baked Christmas cookies in years, since before my X left in 2002, and DH can't eat them now anyway since he was diagnosed with celiac disease last year. I guess I could look up gluten-free cookie recipes, but it's hard to bake in our small kitchen anyway.

Char - How are things going? Are you keeping warm? DH does lots of shopping at Amazon.com all year round - enough that he decided to pay for Amazon Prime membership so he always gets "free" 2-day shipping on items that ship from Amazon. He figures he saves money over the long haul since he shops there so much.

Well, I finally finished decorating my tree this week, and I got DH's presents wrapped last night. I still haven't done Christmas cards yet. I think most of the shopping is done, except for the relatives (ex-in-laws) we'll visit in St. Louis the day after Christmas. It gets harder and harder for me to figure out what to get them since we only visit once a year and don't talk to them much in between. It's usually a fun visit, though.

Hi everyone. I am very excited - I am finished with my Christmas cookies. Woo hoo! I was going to make the last ones first thing this morning while Marty ran in to work but I forgot to leave out butter and he came home about then so we went shopping. We were looking for stocking stuffers for each other and gifts for his employees but we bought clothes for ourselves instead. Too funny. We did pick up a non stick pan and put it under the tree.

I spent a few hours at my parents house tonight. I talked them in to switching phone service providers so they can have free long distance any time. After they got everything set up my momís dialup modem wouldnít connect to their internet provider. I spent about 15 minutes on the phone with her phone company, about 30 minutes on the phone with her internet provider and neither one of them could figure it out. I finally called Marty who directed me to the right to the problem and voila she was up and running.

Marty made homemade spaghetti sauce tonight and it smells yummy. We werenít hungry enough for him to cook supper so he made the sauce and cook spaghetti and meatballs for us later this week.

Did anyone watch for the Geminids? We were cloudy all night here.

Char, I order a lot of things online. Amazon.com has everything and I try to find things that qualify for free shipping. I also sign up for email alerts from places I like to shop because sometimes Iíll get coupons or free shipping from them. It will be nice for you to have the 4WD if you need it. I hope you are staying warm.

Karen, that is a great idea to have wish lists on Amazon.com for Christmas shopping. I am a firm believer in getting people what they want for presents - Iíd rather buy them something theyíll like. Stay warm in Indiana.

Take care.
Marcy

Good to hear from you Karen. I finally got to eat out with those friends I mentioned and I really overdid it on the Pizza. They are all so skinny and put away a lot more than I did but if I ate like them it would definitely stick around to cause me grief.

Tonight I ate a small bowl of chili with low fat cheese mixed in it and called that dinner.

My friends and I did have a good time but I was pretty tired today. After I left them I went to my mom's and slept for a while and then changed the filter to her heater.

I got home and had problems getting the house warm since I fell asleep and was gone from home so long. It is just now warming up.

Tomorrow I work and go to the grocery store. Friday I am going to do some cleaning and rearranging things. We will see how that turns out. I need a new look for my house.

It is so easy to shop on the internet. That is cool to use your wish list for Christmas presents. I have used my wish list but just for myself.

What I also like is that the choices are so much multiplied over what I could find locally and the savings can be great. The shipping is what will get you if you are not careful. I use Amazon and E-Bay and a lot of other stores who offer merchandise on line.

With gasoline going up so high my only choices might become shopping locally or via internet.

Have a good Thursday everyone

Char, I am glad you are staying warm while it's so cold there! I am no longer used to the cold and expect that I will feel cold all the time when I go to Indiana to visit my family over Christmas.

As for shopping on the internet, my husband orders almost all the Christmas gifts from Amazon.com. He loves that store! He orders stuff there all year long. This year, DH, the boys, and I all made wishlists on Amazon so that we could just have our relatives look on there to see what we wanted for Christmas (because they always ask). So far, it seems to be working out well, but then we haven't received our Christmas presents yet! emoticon

Marcy, good job on driving the big truck! It's too bad you have to work on your performance appraisals while you're on vacation. It seems like a lot of managers here do work (like responding to emails and making phone calls, even attending teleconferences!) while they are on vacation.

I've been keeping up with reading the discussion even if I don't always respond. I thought I'd let you know.

HI all,
It has been cold here. I have been staying at home today keeping a log on the fire so to speak. I did some rescheduling for my students and then I ordered some things I needed on the internet. I have found that that is one of the easiest ways for me to shop. I guess I am more of a stay at home person than a go shopping at the mall person.

I have been watching what I eat today except I did have some egg nog. However, I deluted it half and half with 0 percent milk so that the egg nog was not near so bad calorie wise as it sounds. I was careful about how much I had, too. I am trying to make it last a long time.

Marcy, sounds like you were being very effient today at work and at home when you ate alone and woohoo for sure on parking that big truck!!!!

I am going to get a battery for mine for Christmas. Then maybe I can learn to drive it. It is more like an antique but it is 4 wheel drive. LOL

This is an upper teens week for lows. This weekend is a lower teens week. So far so good on the upper teens. I am staying warm.

Everyone else stay warm too this week and make it a good one.

Hi everyone. I went to work 30 minutes early so I could leave 30 minutes early. I didnít have any problems coming home in our gnormous pickup and I even parked it pretty well. Woo hoo!

Work was quite busy today. I have to start working on performance appraisals for this year and got 2 started today. I am on vacation again so need to get them going in case they are due when I get back.

Marty had a business dinner tonight so I had leftovers. I brought home 1/2 of a sandwich last weekend so I fixed that and had some slow churned ice cream.

Take care.
Marcy

Char, I am glad playing país fiddle was a treat for you. Your friends sound priceless; I am glad you have such good friends like that. Wow, how cool you have a great aunt who is turning 102. Gift cards are great. I really like to give them. Itís funny Marty likes to get them but not give them. I am trying to decide what to get my employees at work. If I was still teaching I would get them something really nice this year because they are such a great team but I donít have that much money to spend right now. Fine, Iíll keep my snow. Rats.

Playing Pa's fiddle was a real treat. It was a good fiddle (not as good as mine, but I could be prejudiced) and best of all someone had changed the flat bridge for a traditional bridge which made it easy to play. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and told me they liked it so I guess all went well. They even took a photo of me by the tree with my fiddle. It was good to be able to do something for me for a change.

I had company today and showed them what all I had done so, yes, I am glad I got as much accomplished as I did. I got some more weather stripping and will do some of this weatherization myself. It is bitter cold tonight.

I am going out to eat Thursday with friends (more like family). They are one of my friends from here and here two sisters who are visiting. They were with me when my dh had is surgery before he died. They had been visiting and when I called my friend to tell her what was happening, I could hear them saying "She's not alone is she?" and then when I said yes I heard them say "Well you can just tell her we are coming right up there right now!" and they did. They were so much support to me and it will be good to see them again and talk to them, but we have all been friends/family for many, many years.

Tomorrow I am going into town and taking my mom to get her aunt (102 years old) a birthday card. I am going to try to get a lot more accomplished, too, so that I have more time by the end of the week.

I am going to send cards on an as I receive them basis this year. A lot of my friends and family are opting not to send cards this year but call and visit instead.

I am also going to make things for a lot of my friends so I definitely want more time to focus on that instead of taking care of all the things I have had to take care of in preparation for this winter.

I also enjoyed seeing my mom's decorations tonight. They really looked nice from the street. I am taking one day at a time and so far so good.

Marcy, it looks like you have the Christmas stuff under control. I got gift cards today. That will be the extent of my Christmas shopping. I felt sorry for the lady behind me as I purchased my gift cards. I kept remembering this person or that person and adding cards, but finally think I got everyone taken care of.

Hope everyone has a good week. Stay warm. Yes, I am sure I don't want your snow, Marcy. LOL

Happy Sunday! I got so much accomplished today. I got my Christmas poem written last night so I printed it out this morning and printed my Christmas labels. I sat down at the dining room table thinking Iíd get one sheet of labels done and I just kept going. My Christmas cards are all in the mail now. Sweet.

I made homemade beef noodle soup which is one of my favorites.

I got my gifts for the community Christmas program wrapped. On one of my other forums a lady told me a lot of times the gifts your give to kids will get sold or returned for cash by their parents. I sure hope that is not a common practice. That would really make me mad.

Char, darn it for having to wait 2 months to get your house weatherized. Grr. You have done a lot already that should help you out though. Are you sue you donít want any of my snow? Iíll gladly send it your way. How did your ďpaĒ playing go? Stay safe and warm.

I am off to my Kindle.

Today I got more done, but they won't come weatherize my house for 2 months. I could freeze by then. Grrr. It supposed to turn bitter cold here tomorrow. Wouldn't you know it would turn cold when I have to play off somewhere. I got my attire picked out and practiced some today. I changed a string on my fiddle and have everything packed and ready to go.

I probably need to do laundry tonight while it is warmer.

Karen, it is good to hear from you. Keep up your progress. Marcy, hope the Christmas tree goes okay and please don't send me your snow!!!

I am beat, so headed to bed. Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi everyone. I saw Venus and the crescent moon yesterday morning. Very pretty!

We went to supper tonight and then did some shopping. Our company always does some kind of community support for Christmas and this year we got one of the local high schools. Since I am very interested in photography I snagged a tag where the girl wanted an inexpensive digital camera. We looks at several stores; the inexpensive cameras were really bad cameras. The next price range would need batteries all the time so we got a Kodak with rechargeable batteries. I also got a camera case, a photo album and a micro chip with a SD converter so she can use it in the camera and a phone. I hope I am giving her a fun and new hobby she'll enjoy for many years.

We are going to have a snowy weekend. Maybe we'll put up our Christmas tree and some lights outside. Our tree out front is way to tall for us to decorate now. I suggested Marty get on top of the 5th wheel and "leap" over to the tree but for some reason he didn't like my idea.

Have a great weekend.

Pam, I know what you mean - it is hard to believe November is gone.

HI Karen.

Char, i hate to hear you have a cold spot in your house. We have 2 chilly spots in our house and I am setting at one of them right now. I am right by a big picture window and our computer room has some big windows with an over-hang and itís cold by them. This spot has the best light for reading and I can see the TV better though. I am glad you like the new microwave. Have fun playing the fiddle this weekend.

We worked late today so picked up fast food for supper. Iíll make our homemade tacos for supper tomorrow night.

Take care.

Ack! December is here! I don't even remember if I ever posted in the November Check In and Chat for Support thread, although I read it.

CINDERRELIC, I think you have done well with getting all the things done around your house on your own (and with your friends' help). I'm glad to hear you got a new, better microwave.

Good luck at the Laura Ingalls Wilder house this weekend!

Hi, Everyone,

It is hard to believe that November is gone and December is here. I am barely getting things done for winter and I started back in the late spring and early summer. I never dreamed it took so much time and effort to get things accomplished when there is just one person working at it.

Anyway, I still have a cold spot in my living room. I am not sure why with the new windows. Maybe it is just a cold spot but it happens to be where my computer is and that does present a problem. I am having a weatherization person come out Friday to see if it can be tracked down and fixed. It seems a constant battle to stay warm in this house.

Yesterday was a frustrating day. I went into town. The reindeer had fallen over and a part came off it to make its neck go up and down. I just can't seem to figure out where it goes. If anyone knows please let me know. I called a man from our church to go over to my mom's and see if he can put it back, but he is not familiar with them and I am not holding out a lot of hope for that solution.

I had to return my microwave. It started sparking and I figured that was too dangerous to use so returned it and got a better one. I really like my new one better.

Last night I spent hours trying to devise a way to keep the cat out of the house. I closed off the dog door and thought that would solve the problem but this is a huge cat and he tore the bottom nails right out and broke in for the night. I think now the only way to go is to replace the door with a new one. I just wish I could find a new home for the cat!

I was so busy with it that I didn't get to eat supper until after 9 and then I really wasn't hungry. I guess eating less won't hurt this time.

Today is cleaning day so I am going to get with it and eat healthy. I am also going to practice on the songs I will be playing on Pa's fiddle at the Laura Ingalls Wilder house this weekend. I have not had much time to practice here lately so I had better get started.

Have a great day everyone!!!
