Ruthie, thanks for the words of encouragement. I was able to go through the temple on May 4th.

However, I am not be able to do any baptisms, because of my mobility issues...... I simply cannot get down into the font. Not easy when I would have to have 2 people to help me down and someone to hold me up once down there. So I will have to leave that for my nieces and nephews. My stake pres started to suggest my doing them, then realized this so he changed what he was going to say....... Such a wonderful man. I had only met him once but when my sis and her husband took me to my stake Conf and he saw me there, he came over and asked me how it went. I did not expect him to recognize me but he did.....

Also, because I cannot stand up and sit down very easily, I cannot go back unless someone else is there to help me. I still want to go, but I need to be able to have my sister with me......

I guess it will all work out in the end......

I am working to become my best self spiritually, physically, nutritionally. I also want to improve my environment. My goals for this week are:
Spirit: I intend to read, ponder and pray meaningfully for daily. i will write in my journal the thoughts that I have as well as promptings.
Physical: I will continue to do my normal cardio this week but I will add strength training 3 days this week.
Nutritional: I will eat eggs for breakfast most days. I will eat a chief salad for lunch and a salad before the rest of my dinner. I will eat mindfully.
Environmental: I will get my bedroom organized.

@ Linda - I think it is awesome that you are wanting to take the Temple Prep Class. That is a wonderful Spiritual Goal! Being worthy to attend the Temple is so rewarding!! See if you can get a temporary limited recommend after you start the class. You could at least do baptisms and confirmations that way. Our RS had a Temple day a week ago Saturday. It was wonderful to be at the Temple with 29 of my Ward Sisters, 3 of them only had temporary recommends. Any of us who had female ancestors in need of baptism and confirmation gave the names to those sisters.

I am working to become my best self spiritually, physically, nutritionally. I also want to improve my environment. My goals for this week are:

spiritually I will continue to read my scriptures each day! This last week I as able to do it. I did pray before breakfast, but not always lunch and dinner. I will continue to work on that goal before each meal.

physically I did meet my swimming goals. This week I will continue to swim and exercise in the water. I will add just one more lap per day.

nutritionally I did keep a food chart, but not every day so I will work to do it each day this week. I did try squash and it really had no tast. So as you can see I did not die from it!! LOL!!!

environment I was able to clean as I went along this week, but did not get so much done in the garden. I will work at least a 10 minutes a day. Oh I really want to say a half hour, but I know I just will not do it.

How did everyone else do this week!! Thank you again Vicki Hugs

I am working to become my best self spiritually, physically, nutritionally. I also want to improve my environment. My goals for this week are:

Spiritually: I am going to read my scriptures at least one chapter each day. I will pray before meals and invite Heavenly Father to assist me in keeping my food clean and non compulsive.

Physical: I will do my water class 4 days. I will also swim my 1/4 of mile those 4 days.

Nutritional: I will keep track of each thing I eat each day. I am not a big veggie eater, but I will try at least one that is not my favorite and have a bite.

Environmental: I will work on my garden this week and work on the weeds that are taking over. I will also clean as I go to help keep the house in order.

Thank you for this challenge it is coming at just the right time. I am back on track, but the two weeks before this I was emotionally eating due to my daughter moving out of state. I also had taken Heavenly Father out of my program. It is like they say when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Thanks for you all being there!! Hugs PS I will report next week how I did with these goals!

Vicki!!! Hugs

I am working to become my best self spiritually, physically, nutritionally. I also want to improve my environment. My goals for this week are:
Spirit: I gave the RS presidency message this month (my 1st since we have been placed into a new RS presidency, I am one of the counselors) It went really well I spoke on Sacrifice and the Atonement, Elder Oaks talk from the April Conference. It seems to have gone over very well.
Physical: My doctor is so excited about my current weight loss and my blood work came back looking wonderful so I am looking to continue this trend and get even better. I will work harder at working out 5 days a week.
Nutritional: I am eating wonderful vegetables it is so nice to have Bountiful baskets to get great fruits and veggies from. I am loving the summer and am down to a great weight (almost to goal)
Environmental:I live with my cute husband who bring all types of sweets into the house to tempt me but I am finally learning how absolutely awful those things make me feel so it is great to be coming to this realization.

I agree, I need to work majorly in all 4 areas.

1. Spiritual --I talked to my RS pres today and asked her who I should talk to about taking the temple prep class. She said she would pass that on the the Bishoporic and that someone would call me. She thinks the next classes start at the begining of September.

2.Physical -- I have such mobility issues, and the less I do, the less I can do. I really need to build back my strength and stamina so I can maintain my own home and look after myself..... I also need to loose about 100 lbs. I was doing so good for awhile and was down below 200, 8ut I have gained it all back and more......

3. Nutritional -- I am insulin dependent diabetic and although I try, I obviously do not try hard enough. It is very difficult to eat properly when one is on a very limited income (pension) and cannot afford to buy groceries. Thank the Lord that there are lots of fresh veggies available at lower cost at this time of year so I am doing better. But I need to get ready for winter and what to do then.....

To help with the weight loss, my biggest problem is portion control. When I don't eat correctly, I am always hungry and "crave" things I know I should not have. I really have to work on this......

4. Environmental -- I was staying with my sister for several months while I waited to see if the disability pension I applied for would be granted. When it was, I applied for subsidized housing and was also accepted. The Lord has been so good to me.....

I am now in my own place again but it is taking me a long time to unpack and get settled in. I cannot lift and carry so it takes longer to put things where I want them than it would have even 10 years ago..... I still have boxes all over the place, and many more boxes still in the storage locker than need to be sorted through..... And of course when one has to dodge the boxes, it does not give one a sense of peace and tranquility.... which is another area of Spiritual I need to work on.

Thanks for this challenge. What a lot to think about and work on.......

Thanks for the new challenge. My birthday is in November, and I would like to be below 200 as well. I was below 200 in October 2 years ago, then had an injury from hiking and gained back. I have been gaining and losing the same weight over the last 2 years and really frustrated. I saw my MD again, and he changed my Thyroid meds. My numbers were still not where they belong. I have picked up the pace siginificantly on the exercise and really worked hard on eating well. I am tracking my weight and exercise daily and trying to track my food again. The scale is finally moving in the right direction.

On the home front news, it looks like I might have to go back to work full time. I had gone part time early this year so I could go back to school and work on my Masters, but the income loss is too significant, and we are struggling now to make ends meet. I have really enjoyed being able to be home more with my kids. It is a struggle for me emotionally to work because I live in Southern Utah, but work 130 miles away in Las Vegas. I have to leave my family for several days at a time. I had a live-in nanny when the kids were younger, and still have a nanny part time now when I go down, but since going part time, I have not needed to use here very much. This helped with the salary loss, but not enough. My 18 year old son can send in his mission papers in February next year, and we will need the extra income. Also, we have had alot of extra expenses with cars dying and repairs and finally having to bite the bullet and buy a new car.

My youngest daughter turned 8 and was Baptized yesterday. This was a very emotional and spiritual experience for me. She was radiant and beamed.

Well, I must start getting ready for church. I am fasting for myself and my family today. I am struggling emotionally with the decision to go back to work full time and need to know if this is what is right. It takes me from the home 3 to 4 days per week and adds alot of work load to my husband. He has taken a salary loss because of this recession and is self employed. I have the ability to make us his salary loss if I go back to work full time. I will also fast for my family, because my 18 year old son is wavering now on wanting to go on a mission. He has had many struggles since he was younger, and I know he isn't ready to go (maturity wise). But I know if he will try, Heavenly Father will help him be prepared.

My hope for this team is to include the spiritual and the temporal on this journey to become our healthier best selves. I have had several spiritual experiences as of late that would be too complicated or personal to share. But, I have learned that I don't see myself the same way that the Lord sees me. I believe that is a struggle for many sisters in the gospel. I really would like to work on that. I would like us to support each other more as we move forward becoming our own best self.

Personally I would like to be less than 199 when I get my driver's license renewed in October. I would love a team challenge that would help us all progress towards our goals during the remainder of the year.

I was thinking that we should make goals in 4 areas. Spiritual, physical, nutritional and environmental. Think about these areas. What are your strengths and what strengths would you like. Remember the Lord knows what you can do and is willing to help you become who he wants you to be.

I think that all these areas are important. I think physical and nutritional speak for themselves. These are important as we get healthier. I need the environmental component because I want to get my home in better order. When it is in better order I feel more able to move in the right direction. This could be a matter of setting up the kitchen so breakfast is easier, cleaning the pantry or for me making sure the kitchen is done at night. I have people coming in and eating after the rest of the family has eaten some mornings I do not want to make breakfast because I have left the kitchen and it is a mess. (I hope that is not too much information) Whatever your struggle please make this challenge your own. If you need to change the topics to suit you that is fine too. I really could use the encouragement so please participate.
