Yeah for sure. Or even like when they have there moments of team comradery. Like when Garcia and Reid had to get retested in fitness to qualify "they thought for the BAU " by Morgan which all he wanted was too "torment them". Garcia wanted nothing more than to get him so much. Or like when Reid and Morgan had there prank war. It is so weird. But funny and awesome to watch. Or when Gideon would play chess with Reid. Or JJ calls Reid "Spence". Or like when JJ and Will get together. Or like Jack and Hotch have father and son time even after everything with Haley. Or Dave's poker nights. Or Garcia's millions of crushes on his "Chocolate Thunder ".

That's what I stay for. I need that in every episode and funny or a gag or just something to not give me just crimes.

I know what you mean. It's a dark show - how can it not be with those kinds of crimes, right? A friend leant me season 1 on DVD a while back, and I tried to binge it, but it's just too hard. And I couldn't help thinking that everyone I saw around me in real life had, like, people hidden in their basements. I work retail, so that wasn't the best of ideas I've had. emoticon

What does give it even a semblance of balance are the characters and their lives outside of the job. I wouldn't have been able to watch as many episodes as I did if I hadn't had that to hold on to. I don't need their lives to be all happy; their family dramas felt normal and made me more invested in the characters.

I am very interested in the relationships of the characters not the crimes. I watch it because of the characters. Characters are what made me interested. I have to take months of breaks in between seasons just to recover. But I kept coming back because of Reid of Garcia or Derek or Giddeon or whomever . I can't binge it. It's too much. The characters have so many layers and we discover new things all the time. So shows "cough cough" NCIS LA made me wait years "cough cough " still its great.

Definitely. I love that how when things seem the darkest the characters use their assets to make their minds better. Like Garcia's knicknacks , Reid's books, Derek's "happy place", Dave's cooking, and so on and so forth. It makes it so that we see the humility and the inhumanity of their times in the field and how much of a control it can have on someone if you let it.

Shemar Moore coming in is amazing everytime! I need my "Baby Girl" once and awhile. It makes me feel all nice and toasty inside. Garcia and Derek were two of the most interesting characters to watch when they are together. Same thing with Spencer and Derek. I liked when Derek had come back when Spencer came home. I can understand why Spencer didn't want Derek to know. But it was nice to see the humility of that relationship and the respect of the situation.

Right? It's one of the strengths of the show, I think, and it's needed to counterbalance the inhumanity that they have to deal with at work (and that we have to watch). It's a good reminder that there are good people who have to work to keep themselves sane - and that they have good people around them to help them do it.

And how awesome is it that even though Shemar Moore officially left the show, he always seems to enthusiastically return when they ask him? It says a lot about him and the people working on the show (both on and off camera) that they have that kind of relationship, It makes me like the show even more.

Definitely. When I think about even with Garcia's psyche in the episode of reliving her GSW it is pretty defining for how hard and experience in that field can effect someone. I really loved how JJ had to call Derek to come in and work his "Chocolate Thunder" charm on "Baby Girl". It showed how JJ knew the only person that could make Garcia open up and tell them that something was wrong was her "Chocolate Thunder".

I totally agree. I can't even watch a marathon of the show without getting freaked out in public, so I can't imagine working those kinds of cases - and then having what happened to Reid - and not need something to remind you that there's a normal world out there.

Yeah, and I know this is a TV show, but one of the reasons why this show is still around is that that they are so good at making these characters three dimensional and realistic, which means that they need to show the affects of having this kind of career.

I also think how they handled how the mental health system works in any public emergency services division its helped me as a former EMT remember that there is still help out there even when you don't want it or don't need it. To have Reid teach class for time away will give him a much needed wake up call to remember who he is as Dr. Reid and not Reid being wacko.

I love how they're handling it. Some shows would've just gone on like it was just something that happened last season, and suddenly he's all better, but they're showing the mental ramifications of his jail time. I knew that it was going to be well done when he first got back to the office (I think it was one of the final episodes of last season), and he stopped in front of a door, waiting for permission to go through. It was just a small, automatic response, but it said so much about their attention to detail.

I just wanted to ask about the thoughts of Reid coming back to the team. I think his psyche will be comprised at times but he is getting back to the person he was its just gonna have to take time. What do you guys think about Reid coming back?
