ppl seem to b surprised that
- I can ride a bike to the gym & that I go to the gym that
- I can rollerskate
- that I can do this dance where u go all the way down to the floor n then come back up (this I'm usually in pain form afterwards)
I make comments

I joke about it all the time . . . AND . . . I also think it's very funny.

One of my favorites is about shopping at the Sears' Tent Dept. for my clothes. That one has always cracked me up.

I guess I'm not hung up about the weight so much because of having been raised in a European family where being heavy was a GOOD THING .. . . cuz if someone was skinny, that meant they had Tuberculosis.
Also, with my Mom having been born & raised in French Tunisia - around the Arabic culture - that also influenced how we felt about weight issues and beauty. It seems to be an Anglo "hang up" to not feel beautiful if one is heavy.

The ONLY reason I'm working on loosing weight is for my Health!!! and to be able to do things more easily. It has nothing to do with my beauty self image. (To me or my Hunny either)

I never have made self-deprecating jokes to cover up any embarrassment about my weight or stuff like that.

In the past but I am working at being positive about myself now. I am a child of the King and should act on that!

Do you ever joke about your weight, or make fun of yourself, even though you don't think its funny? Do you make jokes as a defense mechanism, to beat others to the punch? Have you used humor to cover up your embarrassment over your weight?
