I can completely understand this! it can be crazy and frustrating especially when you feel like you're doing it all by yourself?!?!
How much time do you have?

Just take your time to figure out what you guys want to do for your wedding...Have fun with it...Get your girls together to go shopping...That's the best part. My Maid of Honor and I go out shopping for stuff for the wedding every time I get paid. I get stuff done plus me and her time to have fun. So don't let it stress you out...you'll go crazy! Good luck!

Ha ha! You poor thing! Take your time and think about what kind of wedding you want first.... do you want it in the fall or the winter? Then try to figure out a budget. The Knot has some online tools to help. Start with your venue though. Once you set a date and have the venue, it's a lot easier from there. Don't feel overwhelmed. There can be as many or as few details as you want. Remember it's your wedding... do what you want... and I guess your fiance too. :)

Congrats!

I completely agree. Do the big stuff first, and then the little things! Don't worry yourself about the look of your invitations right now, or what pair of shoes you'll wear. The first thing I recommend doing, in all honesty, is just sitting down with your fiance and discussing what kind of wedding can you imagine having. Do you want something intimate or something large? Do you want indoors or outdoors? Do you want something traditional, something modern, or something really unique and quirky? Other major factors: what's your budget, and how big a guestlist are you looking at? If you've got a large family, a small wedding probably won't happen. But if you're on a tight budget, that will eliminate some venues or the size of your guestlist.

Once you've got a picture in your head, this can help steer your decisions. If you know you want outdoors, you won't pick a cold time of year, that sort of thing. From there, a lot of the pieces can start to fit together: if it's a winter wedding, you'll probably want fabrics like satin, silk or taffeta, but for a summer wedding you might want something softer like chiffon, and that may make dress shopping simpler. For decor and flowers, the look of your venues may help you to choose colours and styles.

For picking the date, it can be done in a couple of ways. Either find a venue you really like and see when they're available and let that determine it for you, or pick a date that's really meaningful to you and find a venue that is available that day.

I hope this helps! And if you need any more help, just let us know!

Hi and welcome to the team! Congratulations on your engagement. Maybe if you start looking at where you're going to get married and checking their availabilitiy, the date options will be narrowed down for you. Once we found our reception hall, we had to pick between 2 of their open dates left. That made planning a lot easier because it determined the season which determined the dresses and food and favors, etc. There are a lot of little details that can become really stressful but don't focus on them yet. Start with the big stuff first - pick the church/reception location, date, maybe decide on your colors, find a photographer. For me, those things fell into place on their own and just felt right. Hopefully they do with you too. Once you have all the big pieces put together, at the very least you'll be able to get married. Then you can sweat the small stuff if you like all the little details. Enjoy it!

I am newly engaged, just on Christmas and just beginning to start planning. We don't even have a date set yet. Either the day of our first date 9/2/09 or sometime 2/2010. How do you even decide when to do it? I went to one of those expo's and there are so many little details that I have not even thought of before. I am overwelmed?!?!?!!??! Any suggestions?!?!?!!?!
