Anahita hails from ancient Persia though she is believed to originate in Babylon and ancient Egypt Minor. Her name means "The immaculate one." She was often clothed in golden robes and wore her jeweled crown. Her sacred animals were doves and peacocks.

She is a warrior maiden and ruled over all things water. As such, she was a goddess of fertility as well and was often pictured pouring water from a pitcher over the land, symbolizing the flow of a mother's milk.

She was also known as a protectress of prostitutes and an advocate for female equality.

As a warrior, she is depicted in a chariot drawn by 4 white horses that represent wind, rain, clouds, and hail. She is often associated with the planet Venus. The Greeks associated her with the goddesses Athena, Aphrodite, and sometimes Artemis.

To honor this goddess surround your self with the scents of cinnamon, vanilla, violets, and mint. Visit a body of living water, or take in the beauty of a rainstorm. Extend a green branch to someone in need of acceptance.
