I never do these goddesses justice, but I'm glad you enjoyed the post.

A belated thanks for this lovely post about Persephone. I learned some new details about her story! Her dual nature as goddess of the Underworld (death) and of Spring (rebirth) is somehow comforting and inspiring to me.

Persephone (Prosperpina to the Romans) was born Kore the only child of Demeter and Zeus. Her innocent beauty caught the eye of Hades. He struck a bargain with Zeus, to kidnap Kore and take her to the Underworld. While Demeter searched, with the help of Hekate, Kore, knowing full well that eating in the Underworld trapped you there, consumed pomegranate pearls (seeds). She was reborn as Persephone.

She serves dual roles. Queen of the Underworld and Goddess of Spring. She is often depicted as a corn goddess.

Her story in it's entirety tells us how a mother's grief created the seasons. It also tells us how to accept both our darkness and our light creating a whole.

To celebrate this lady, light a candle and make yourself a lovely spring greens salad with pomegranate seeds (Persephone's Pearls). Enjoy a walk in a field of flowers, or enjoy a spring bouquet.

And thank you to AMYFLA for her goddess of the month nomination.
