I need to come up with a suitable routine as well. I like yours.

It's awesome that your hubby is onboard with it!

Remember to change those timer settings if you need to! If 15 on/15 off gets to be too tiring, try a different routine.

My routine for the weekends goes like this:

30 minutes playing on the computer.
15 minutes exercising (walking, usually)
15-30 mins doing housework of some sort.
(repeat through the day)

I use the exercise stints as "planning time" for what I will do in my housework stint. I actually don't set a timer for that part (I know, FlyLady would be shocked!)

Instead, as I pace (my exercise), I would think of a few things that I could do quickly. I start with the week's laundry, and the WHBH, so my first steps might be putting a fresh load in the washer, transferring a load to the dryer, and bringing up and putting away what was in the dryer. Then I might scrub down the shower, or vacuum the steps, or sweep downstairs. Perhaps I clean up the dishes. Basically, I make a short list of things that will only take a few minutes each to do, and then go do them. They are all babysteps--like, I might decide to take the bathroom trash down to the main kitchen trash can, rather than "gather up all the trash in the house to go out on trash day".

After I do those few small things (which usually end up being about 15-30 mins, depending), I go back to the computer and playing for 30 mins.

I get an awful lot done this way!

... but you have to find a routine that works for YOU!

The grumbling will ease up when he sees that your routines help it STAY clean and it won't be such a big task from now on. At least that's how it worked around here.

Write on!

Hang in there! I think that it is wonderful that you are working on it together.

LOL So glad your DH is working on the dining room table. The grumbling will stop when the 2 of you finish the 15 minute decluttering routines and your house shines. Since we are retired my DH has made the dishes his job. I'm loving that. He also helps with the laundry.

Finally got myself and hubby on board. He's, as we speak, doing blocks of 15mins. on 15 mins. off, to tackle our diningroom table that hasn't seen the light of day forever!!! He grumbles, but he's going.

Working on putting our control journal together, so hopefully our next weekend won't be full of housecleaning misery.

Oh my the grumbling is getting louder, but I'm cheering him on!!! Give us both strength!! emoticon emoticon
