My days are pretty busy. I can't tell you how I stay in shape because I'm not in shape just yet. I'm a government contractor with DHS and work downtown.
I plan to get in shape by doing a lot of walking during the day and hitting the gym in the evening. Instead of catching Metro to and from my job, I walk from Union Station (about 1.5 miles each way). In addition to that I do a lunch walk which can range from 2.0 to 3.0 miles. To keep the lunch walk interesting I try to visit a different DC landmark everyday. For example today I walked from my job to the Smithsonian Castle, the day before I walked to West Potomac Park. So just by sticking to that, I walk a minimum of 5 miles a day.
The after work at least 3 times I week, I go to LA Fitness for weight training. I also use LA Fitness for the cardio equipment just in case I can't get my day walking in.
