I crochet and sew so I make sure that if they didn't get something from me for their birthday, that they get something handmade for Christmas. My nephew wants a sock monkey. I detest the things but I'm working on it right now. I haven't decided what I'm doing this year for sure other than that. I was thinking of making the nieces some purses made of some fun material.

I emailed my MIL and asked if we could draw names, she never replied to the email. 13 days ago and still waiting for a answer.

My side of the family also used to spend way too much on gifts, but we got together and decided it was getting too crazy. Now we do a white elephant exchange or just draw a name and exchange with them. The small children still get gifts though.

I do think making chocolates or cookies are a great idea though.

I like the craft ideas. I might bake something. You see my dh side spends way too much on Christmas gifts... Not too sure what they would think about getting a tin of cookies? I would love this gift on the other hand. I am going to look for some cook books on sale and put together some baskets.

I always bake a bunch of cookies. You can find really nice looking containers at the dollar store or a bundle of them at Wal-Mart for cheap.

You can have the kids do some nice little crafts and hand those out. One year, the kids made picture frames out of popsicle sticks, decorated them and put a picture in it.

Well this season I really want to give simple gifts. Last year we made wine and gave it our family members. What is everyone thinking about giving? Any idea's for a budget friendly gift?
