Hey everyone, My name is Lauren and I'm a SAHM of a 2 year old boy. I have finally got my husband to start working out with me (when he doesn't have to get up at 4 in the morning to get to work on time) but I'm having a hard time getting motivated to do it by myself. We are recently realized that working out alone isn't going to do it. Which is why I have started back on Sparkpeople for the hundredth time. I have an extremely picky eater and I have just decided that he gets what I fix or he doesn't eat. Before when I was trying to diet alone and fix something that would work for my son and his dad I felt like all I did was fix food and that didn't seem to be a great way to do things when your on a diet. I have only lost about 10 lbs from when I was preggo and need to loose at least 50 if not more. It is a very long and hard road but it can be done. The first time I started on this site I lost 30 lbs in about 6-8 months. It can be done with a little patience and hard work you will get there. ( I think I need to be telling myself that too!!!)

Hi everyone. I am a mom of two girls ages 9 and 2 and I agree it has been harder to lose weight since my second was born. I lost all of the baby weight after my first daughter and kept it off for a while it started creeping back on before I got pregnant but when I had my second I only lost 10 pounds after she was born. I have been struggling for two years to get the weight off and I have a ways to go to get were I need to be. Sometimes it is hard to excercise because the two year old is mommy hold me or hold my hand. However I imagine the extra weight helps when I do carry her while I am walking.

What is it about 140! LOL I only have one child, who is 2, and have started getting serious about losing the "baby weight" because I could not seem to get below 140! I was 115 and very fit before I became pregnant. The biggest thing that helped me, honestly, was my son becoming able to eat what I eat. This sounds so weird (I can't believe I'm admitting this!) but he went through a phase of only wanting to eat off my plate and not his, so I would make a normal plate, half it, feed him, then eat the rest. I began to really notice how little food it took to fill me up and was more cautious of what I ate because he ate it too.
Been there on the picky eaters! Meat and potatoes don't have to be the devil! it's all about portions of the "bad" stuff and throwing even one healthy side in there that you know you like and can have your fill of without sabotaging your diet. I agree on the home workouts. I swear by the dance and yoga ones. Yoga is great because once you master it, you can start finding a minute or two here and there to incorporate it into your day. Good luck with your journey and may you achieve all of your goals!

You sound like me, Skinnymamaoftwo! I was 120 when married 10 yrs ago, right at 140 and STUCK now! Three kids, 7, 4, 20 mos. I married a wonderful, wonderful man! However, he can eat anything and not gain. I feel like I look at something fattening and it causes me to bloat! I am actually on the right track now...I joined my local bootcamp class, and when I can't make it, I have been doing the 30 day shred videos that are very reasonable with time needed to get them done. I add running in daily when I can...usually up really early. Able to tell a huge muscle tone difference after 4 weeks. Weight is the same, but clothes are getting baggy! As for food and cooking, I cook one meal that we all eat. I have found a light recipe slow cooker cookbook that I use constantly along with a few others that lighten up food. I have become very strict at mealtimes, and everyone must try one bite for each year of age and choose one veggie. I have also found that the more they help cook, the more the kids will eat. They like raw veggies much better than cooked, usually. While this sounds like meals are rosy, I promise they aren't always! I am hoping the stubbornness pays off soon! My husband has conformed his eating to mine because he knows I am a happier wife if I feel good about myself!
I am like you, one side of my family tends to keep weight on, and unfortunately, I am short and took after that side! Ugh. But, also like you, I refuse to let it be an excuse. So, as someone who totally gets where you are coming from, I am supporting you! emoticon

I have a 3 & 1/2 year old son and I'm fortunate that I get to workout on lunch breaks from work. There's a gym right across the street from my office and we get a discount on the monthly fees. I realize how lucky I am that my son is in preschool it gives me an opportunity to get some exercise in. That being said, the food thing was a hurdle for me. I totally hear you about how hard it is when your family isn't on board with your healthy eating. My husband and I sat down and had a long conversation about health and our family and now we all eat the same things. That means we cook one dinner and we all eat it - no special meals for my son, no healthy version for me and fat version for my husband. That makes it so much easier. Trying to do portion control on tempting foods is sometimes too much when you also have to care for little ones. It's very draining. Is it totally off the table to talk to your husband about eating a bit healthier as a family for the good of the whole family?

As for working out, not sure if you've tried this already, but there are some great video workouts that you can do with little kids. They get to feel like they're playing a game and you get to exercise. That might be a way that you can involve him and still get something done for your fitness. Whatever happens, just know that you can do it. Good luck!!

40lbs is nothing I can't beat.

I have noticed the weight gain harder to get rid of after baby #2. He will be two in November. My husband is a meat and lots of white rice and lots of anything else he can stuff in his face kind of guy. He is Hawaiian if that helps you understand. I work full-time odd hours and my youngest is attached to mom and dad. I just joined this week but so far my son and I have found that long, fast paced walks help him be less fussy and I get my exercise in. I have to really pump myself up though because it is hot! As far as food, I just don't eat what they do but if I have to, I eat in moderation and watch the nutrition label closely. I am finding that I don't have many cravings although I thought I would. When I do, I have just one Oreo or one french fry and I actually feel satisfied. It is hard but getting my weight down is more important to me since I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My doctor said we couldn't start trying for baby #3 until after my weight is back to pre-pregnancy levels and my blood sugar is in control.

Hey everyone! I'm new to the site and am excited to find this group! I'm the mom of two boys, ages 2 and 3. Finally attacking that babyweight that can't really be called "baby weight" anymore! haha! Feeling a bit frustrated today. Ok, backstory. I was 120 when I married 11 years ago. Maintained that weight until I got preggo with baby #1. Was only able to get back down to 130lbs before I got preggo again 7 months later (yeh, no one told me it was easier to get preggo the 2nd time....). After that baby, I did actually manage to get back down to 130.....for about a week. It has since been just creeping back on. Pushing 140 now. Everyone in my family said they started really putting on weight around this age (and everyone is overweight in my family). I refuse to join the ranks. Been trying to hit the gym a few times a week, but the two year old won't have any of that. Hubby works really odd hours, so I can't have him watch them. AND it's really hard to watch what we eat with two young ones that are so picky and a meat-and-potatoes kind of hubby. Just feeling really frustrated today. Anybody else in the same boat??
