I'll have to try that one! It seems my little guy is obsessed with exploring the cabinets and drawers... also..

I found a very inexpensive toy blender and mixer on line. He loves to make dinner right along with me. I will also give him a piece or two of lettuce and he will put it in my salad spinner and spin, spin, spin. He likes that he is "helping"...

Carpe Diem!

I put on a movie for my kids it works most of the time. If all else fails I find helper jobs like wiping the table down. He even will sit at the table and talk to me. My son is 3 and it is still a chanellage to get him out of the kitchen. I wants to help. Most of the time a movie works or playing with his older brother works as well.

Sadly the only thing that works for me is having my daughter attempt to entertain my son. Doesn't always work.

I often have to cook dinner for my family without the assistance of Hubby keeping my son busy (son is 2)

I have fridge magnets for him to play with, a drawer of tupperware that I usually have him "organize' for me, but it seems lately that my son wants to see what I'm doing (which is fine when I'm not using knives porcelain bowls or working with anything that is hot).

He doesn't like to sit still in his high chair while waiting for me to make dinner either.

Any tips so we can avoid frustration and tears in the kitchen?
