If you feel you must snack throughout the day, just keep different snacks on hand. Grab a few carrot stick or a handful of grapes instead of unhealthy stuff! You can still eat when you need to if you just slowly change what you're eating!

Good luck! I have a 12 month old and a 3 yr old -- they run circles around me! :)

I've been trying to drink more water as well. Back in High School I did the "Water diet" before eating any meal you drink a large glass of water. Nice habit but I'm not a huge water fan.

I also find myself snacking more when I'm chasing my son. I've been replacing that urge with drinking more water.

You can make it a great day or not. The choice is yours.

I have always had insomnia and sleep four hours every night that I can actually sleep. I notice that the nights I can't, I snack more. Years ago my insomnia wasn't this bad and I'm hoping that is because I weighed less. It would be nice to just sleep a full night again!

Take heart that as you exercise more and more, after an initial lag, your energy levels will skyrocket.

That might not be a huge help now, but "this too shall pass" always helps me, at least mentally.

Try not to let sleep get too much of a backburner in the early weeks when you give up the extra snacking. I'm not normally a snacker, but find myself constantly hungry when I haven't had enough overnight sleep, moreso than based on how much I've done during the day.

Good luck :)

One of the things I do when I want to grab a snack and it's not time is to grab gum instead. Doesn't work for everyone but it helps me not snack as much. :-) (Oh the joys of chasing kids, my 19 month old keeps me completely on my toes!)
