Hi DThor,

I agree with you, this is definitely more of a lifestyle change than a diet. I have come to realize that more and more, so I am just trying to eat healthier and drink more water. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it!

Hi and welcome. As far as a "diet" plan, I am eating the calories spark gives me and making sure to get in at least 100 grams of protein and trying to stay under a hundred carbs easier said than done. But so far it has worked for me. I have not given up anything that I would normally eat, I just eat much less than I use to.

And to me this is truly not a diet. I changed my entire lifestyle, my way of eating, thinking and really living. I know for myself I will have to do this the rest of my life or I will end up right back where I was and I really don't want to go there ever again.

I have found it to be the same as the others said. I know it sounds like "been there, done that" but I have been so much more comfortable with my lifestyle change. I still eat hamburgers, bread, & desserts. I just make sure I am under my daily calories (which on Sparkpeople is quite generous). I have occasional special occasions or unavoidable high calorie days that I can just move past because I didn't "blow the diet." I didn't gain everything in a day so a day here or there is OK.

Whatever you do end up with, look around here and hopefully we can help in any way. Good luck!

I agree with SASSYTHING52. Having been "dieting" my entire life, I have been reading EVERYTHING I can about healthy eating and losing weight. I honestly believe that in the end, it all comes down to "what will work for you based on your lifestyle and food likes and dislikes". Almost, any "diet" will work if you can faithfully follow it but if you don't develop new healthy eating and exercise habits during the "diet process" you will not be able to keep it off. You'll likely fall back into your old eating habits. On the Spark People site, under the tab:Articles & Videos is a Motivation link. On that page is an article titled: "A 7-Step Weight Loss Plan that Works". It has some really good information there. You should really look at it.

I know, trying to find a diet plan that works for your lifestyle and one you can stick to as much as possible can be hard. It can take some tweaking and trial and error.

I also checked out the Amazon reviews and most all of them were favorable but said the book was hard to get through.

If you Google it there are a lot of sites that tell you the plan. Then you wouldn't have to put out the money to buy the book.

Here's one for example:
The Rice Diet
www.everydiet.org/diet/rice-diet

If you like meat, chicken, etc., this might not be the diet for you.

I'm a vegetarian and am vegan on some foods. I calorie count by what SparkPeople recommends. I have to watch the carbs and make sure I get enough protein. Does it work? Yes...if I stick to it, LOL! That's the trick:)

Hi,

I am not vegetarian, so I am not sure about it either. I am just trying to find something that might help me to finally lose the weight. I am struggling to find a diet plan to stick to, so right now I am just eating more whole wheat and whole grain foods, as well as eating more fruits and vegetables. Could you give me some advice on what plan you are doing and if it has helped you. Thanks!

I've never head of the rice diet so I Googled it earlier today. I'm not so sure about it. It sounds limited? Is it something you think you could stick to over the long haul? Are you vegetarian?

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to get any input and see if any of you have ever heard of the rice diet solution. I was browsing on ebay and found this book as well as the rice diet solution cookbook and was thinking of getting them and seeing if they might help me. Has anyone ever heard of this diet, and if so, could someone tell me if it helped them. Thanks everyone!
